《Signed, Sober You - Michael Hardy》TEN

Jenna's pacing. It's three in the morning and she's pacing while chewing on her thumbnail. Her heart is beating so hard that it hurts. She's leaving for a three month long tour in a couple hours and she's freaking out.
"Babe." She doesn't look up or stop pacing. "Jenny." Still nothing. "Jen." She stops moving but continues chewing on her thumb. "Jenna." Michael's voice is hard and it makes her look up at him. "What's-" He looks at the alarm clock and groans as he sits up. "What's up?"
"I leave- I leave for tour in three hours. I gotta be at the airport in three hours. I gotta live on some... fuckin bus for three months and I can't- I can't- babe- I can't-" Tears form in her eyes as Michael stands. "Babe, I can't do this- I'm gonna fuck this up-"
"Jenny."
"I know-"
"Jenny."
"It's gonna make my career flop-"
"Jennifer!"
She gasps, tears spilling down her flushed cheeks. "Michael, I don't- I don't- I can't-"
"Calm down, Jenny." He says softly, cupping her cheeks. "Everythin' is fine. It's normal to be nervous. Morgan is gonna be there with you. He'll keep you safe, okay?"
"I-" She takes in a shaky breath. "Babe, I can't do this-"
"Take a deep breath. I'll do it with you. In and out." She copies his breathing and nods. "It's gonna be fine."
"I'm sorry." She whispers.
He shakes his head and sits her down on the bed. Jenna drops her head on his shoulder and grips his hand tightly.
He brushes his thumb across the back of her hand. "You're gonna be okay. This tour is gonna be great. You're gonna have the time of your life."
"I'm gonna miss you."
"I know. I'm gonna miss you too." He kisses the top of her head.
He somehow gets her back into bed and she falls asleep in his arms.

"Hey," Michael takes Jenna's hand. "Look at me." Jenna looks up with bloodshot eyes.
She's never been on a plane before and she's nervous as hell but Michael had a private conversation with Morgan and he promised him that he'd take care of her, look after her.

"You're gonna be fine." He whispers, looking her dead in the eyes. "Call me when you land." He kisses her forehead then lips. "I love you."
She nods and swallows hard. "I love you too."
Michael smiles at her then gives Morgan a bro hug before they and their team heads to security.
After getting through that, Jenna is pacing in front of Morgan.
"You're makin' me dizzy." He mumbles, packing in a pinch. "Would you just sit with me? Please? Just do that for right now."
Jenna sits next to him and starts bouncing her knee. Morgan rests his hand on her shaking joint, his thumb brushing across the skin peeking out of her ripped jeans.
His touch sends zaps through her body.
Jenna awkwardly moves his hand off her knee and onto his leg. "How the fuck are you so calm right now?" She asks in a sharp tone causing an older woman to give her a dirty look.
"I ain't worried 'bout anythin'." He says, his arm on the chair behind her. "It's always stressful in the beginning but once everyone gets settled and comfortable, it's a blast." She laughs softly and leans back in the chair.
Morgan and her small talk until their group is called to board.
Their seats are next to each other.
Jenna goes to shove her bag in the overhead storage compartment but Morgan stops her. He takes her bag and puts it up for her.
She gives him a look. "I could've done it." She says, sitting in the window seat.
"I know." He replies, sitting next to her. "You ever been on a plane before?"
"No."
He nods and tightens the seatbelt across his lap, she copies him. "Are you nervous?"
"Does it show?"
"Yeah." He chuckles. "You're gonna be alright."
+++
Jenna feels woozy. She feels dizzy and hot but also freezing. She peels off her zip up hoodie then drapes it over her lap. She bunches her hair up into a shitty bun.
"You doin' okay?" Morgan whispers, tilting his head to look at her as he rests against the headrest. She squeezes her eyes shut and nods. Morgan pulls his backpack from under the seat in front of him and snags a bottle of Dramamine from his front pouch. "Here."

She pops the travel sized bottle open and taps two tablets out. She takes a drink of her lukewarm water and downs the medication.
"Thanks." She mumbles, squeezing her eyes shut again.
He keeps his eyes on her face for a little longer before lounging back in the chair.
The motion sickness medicine finally kicks in and starts making Jenna feel drowsy. Her eyes get heavy and her head slips onto Morgan's shoulder.
A couple minutes later, the plane hits some turbulence and causes her to stir. She hums as she leans against the wall beside her and stretches her legs out across Morgan's lap, her jacket bunched up behind her head, her arms crossed over her belly.
Her moving makes Morgan wake up. He snaps a quick picture of Jenna in a light sleep next to him and sends it to Michael. He slides his phone between his thighs before resting his hands on her shins, brushing his thumb across her inked ankle peeking out from the hem of her jeans.

Salt Lake City, Utah
"I've never been to Utah before." Jenna says as she picks up her suitcase from baggage claim.
"Buncha Mormons who know how to party, apparently." Their tour manager, Aaron, says as he picks his duffle up. "C'mon."
Jenna catches up with Morgan. "You excited?" She asks, adjusting her old military duffle on her shoulder.
"Hell yeah!" He laughs, playfully nudging her shoulder with his.
The group makes it to the bus.
"Okay." Aaron tosses his bag in a bunk. "Jenna, a few rules for tour."
She nods.
"One; try to stay on schedule."
"Okay."
"Two; no unknown visitors on this bus."
"Got it."
"Three; have fun. You get to travel with a great group of guys- we're your family for the next three months." He says. "So just, y'know, be careful and cautious. We got your back."
"Damn right y'all do." She responds. "Thanks for settin' this up and everythin'."
"Yeah, no problem." He nods then pulls his laptop from his bag.
"How long of a drive is it to the venue?"
"It is about thirty minutes." Aaron responds, looking up at her. "Have a seat, take a shot, relax."
She looks at Morgan who offers her a shot. She takes it and knocks it back. "Woo!" She says with a sharp inhale. "Shit, I gotta call Michael."
She stands and makes her way to the narrow bunk hallway, sitting in hers with her feet dangling over the side. "Hey!"
"Hey baby!" Michael greets with a huge smile that's practically audible. "How was the flight?"
"It was real good, fine. Almost throw up from motion sickness but landed in Utah safe and sound."
"Good, I'm glad." He nods. "I... I miss you."
She giggles and chews on her thumbnail. "I've been gone for not even a whole day."
"So? I miss you bein' a little shit."
"Well ain't you just the romantic." She can hear him chuckle on the other end. "I am so nervous, babe. I wish you were here."
"Ah, you'll be fine. You got a great team with ya and Morgan so, it's no sweat."
"I know but it just feels weird without you after you been there for everythin', y'know?"
"Yo, Jenna, c'mon! We're here!" Aaron shouts from the front of the bus. "Let's go!"
"I gotta go." She says sadly, her body starting to tremble with nerves. "I love you."
"I love you too. Hey, good luck tonight. You're gonna do great."
"Thanks. Bye."
"Bye."
She sighs heavily as she pockets her phone. She hates how they're not together for her first tour but she's got a good friend with her.
It's not like she's totally alone.

My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe...
Xavier had a happy, humdrum life: normal friendships, a normal girlfriend, a somewhat oddball family. Until, that is, he literally stumbled through the fourth wall and discovered he was the protagonist of a manga. Now he's scrambling to maintain any semblance of control over his own life in the face of something he never imagined he would need to contend with: the power of the Genre. Hello, E.O. Tenkey here; thank you for your interest in "Not A Manga"! This was my first serial novel, and I hope you enjoy Xavier's predicament! Familiarity with manga not required (though it can't hurt)! I look forward to exploring the bounds of the Genre with you. (First volume is rated PG-13 for comic mayhem and light profanity—these are high school students, after all. Second volume is rated PG-13 to R for some violence and similar levels of profanity. Tags may or may not contain spoilers.)
