《Neon in the Dark - Morgan Wallen》Twenty Nine

Maggie hums softly as she stirs under the comfortable hotel sheets that brush against her bare skin. She hums again, rolling onto her front before she inhales deeply. Morgan smiles over at her from his spot against the headboard. "It's pretty early to be fiddlin' 'round with music." She mumbles, leaning up with her chin propped up on her hand. "Whatcha messin with?"
Morgan chuckles, tucking a curl behind her ear. "Nothin' too excitin'."
"Play me somethin'."
He smiles happily as he starts running his thumb over the strings; he ditched his pick to stay quiet for her while she slept.
"She's somebody's problem, somebody's goodbye, somebody's last call number that they can't find. Somebody's best day, somebody's worst night, somebody's reason for leaving on the porch light. Thinkin 'bout them tan lines and I'm thinkin' damn I'd love to drown in them heartbreaker blue eyes. She's somebody's problem and somebody's problem's bout to be mine, 'bout to be mine..."
Maggie blushes as she gets to her knees, sliding the guitar out of his hands to set it against the nightstand before she sits herself on his lap. Morgan gets ahold of her hips and smiles up at her, brushing his thumbs against her skin. She leans down and kisses him softly, holding onto the sides of his face. "I love you." She whispers, her forehead against his.
He chuckles, "I love you too." Morgan brings his hand down against her asscheck making her squeal before he moves her off his lap. "I'm gonna shower." He bites his lip. "You're more than welcome to join me, baby."
She hops off the bed and into the bathroom with her boyfriend, the two giggling between themselves as they step into the shower together.

"C'mon!" Maggie squeaks, grabbing Caleigh's hand. The two girls laugh as they force their way to the barricade of the crowd, front row for Michael's set. She presses herself against the fence as he runs out on stage, his arm in the air as the introduces himself and the band.
He kicks his set off with a couple songs from his first album as HIXTAPE then a couple off of his newest album A Rock. Maggie sings along with the songs that she helped him write, dancing with the tall brunette next to her. They scream the lyrics at each other, laughing as Caleigh spins Maggie.
Soon, Unapologetically Country As Hell closes his set.
The girls make it backstage for Morgan's set because who knows how rowdy he's going to make the crowd. They find a spot next to Michael off to the side and watch him light up the stage like always. He grins over at his friends as he starts with his first song.
Maggie's stomach starts to twist and she grips her water bottle tight in her clammy hands. Michael glances down at her, his hand on her shoulder but she pulls away and plasters an obviously fake smile on her face as keeps her eyes on her boyfriend.
"This next song is for the girl that I love." Morgan breathes against the mic. "We haven't released it yet but I think y'all should hear it anyways." Morgan slings his matte black acoustic over his shoulder with a genuine smile.
"With me on whiskey, and you on wine, getting Tennessee tipsy in the neon light. Yeah, it's what we do, girl, it's kinda our thing, a little jukebox dancing in a smoky dream. We're as easy as you got your drink and I got mine but we've got the same thing on our mind. I guarantee best times tend to be with you on wine and me on whiskey, with you on wine and me on whiskey, yeah..."

Maggie smiles slightly, her eyes darting around the stage as Morgan sings. She turns to Caleigh, her cheeks pink. "I gotta go to the bathroom." She mutters, weaving her way to their bus to grab another pregnancy test, she realized that she never did a second on and she's still feeling kind of off. She's still waiting on that period to come knocking on her ovaries but it still hasn't made an appearance, maybe it's just the stress from touring but she wants to make sure that it's still negative.
She snags two tests and dips into the cramped bathroom.
=
"Where'd you disappear to?" Morgan asks Maggie as they pile back onto the bus.
She glances between him and Caleigh, unsure of what to say. "No where special." She shrugs, Morgan gives her a look once he sees her bloodshot eyes and flushed face. "You did good durin your set."
"Thanks." He says, half heartedly. "You go on tomorrow." She gives an obviously fake smile. "C'mere." He grabs her hand and pulls her off the bus for privacy. "The hell is goin' on with you? You've been actin' weird ever since tour started and it's startin' to worry me."
"It's nothin." She whispers, looking down at her bare feet.
"Mags-"
"I'm fine. Just crazy stressed with this tour and everything." She sniffles, shaking her head as she starts to get emotional. "I'm-" She chokes out a sob, rolling her pretty lips into her mouth as tears stream down her flushed, freckled face.
He wraps his arms around his girlfriend, holding her close to let her sob into his chest. Morgan sighs, his cheek on the top of her head, rubbing her back. She pulls away and nods, wiping her face with the neckline of her shirt. "You look exhausted."
"Thanks." She mumbles, taking a deep breath as she steps back to the door. Morgan stands shocked with what happened; he doesn't know what to do so he just slumps himself on a couch in the front lounge while his girlfriend hides herself in the back.
"She okay?" Caleigh whispers as she makes herself a drink at the counter.
"I don't know." He responds, reaching into the cooler in the counter for a beer.
Caleigh gives Morgan a squeeze to the shoulder, leans over to kiss her beau then heads to the back lounge to have girl talk with Maggie. She knocks on the slider. "Who is it?"
"Caleigh."
"Okay." She lets herself in and sits with her on the floor against the couch. "Sorry."
"What's up?"
"So y'know how the, uh, test was negative?" The brunette nods. "The second two were positive."
"What!? Really?"
Maggie nods, fiddling with the rips in her jeans. "So I'm either gon' make an appointment with a place in town or just wait til we get back to Nashville to see what the deal is."
"Wow."
Maggie whimpers softly as she starts to get misty eyed again, her head in her hands. "I just ruined my life, Cal." She exhales. "And- and Morgan's."
"Well, Morgan likes kids."
"But he don't want kids." She huffs, wiping her eyes. "I ruined our lives."
"Oh, Mags." She wraps her arm around her shaking shoulders. "We won't say anything to anyone til you know for sure, okay?"
"Yeah. Thanks."
"No prob, girl." She says in an over-the-top valley girl accent making her giggle.
"I gotta get some sleep." Maggie yawns, rubbing her eyes. "Thank you again, Caleigh."

Maggie is bugging backstage as she paces with a water bottle in her hand. "You're on in five minutes." Brooks mutters, tapping his pen against a clipboard with her set list on it. "You happy with the lineup?"
"No." She snags the board from him and crosses and switches a few songs around. "Here."
"You sure?" She nods, tossing her water bottle to Morgan before she slings her acoustic over her shoulder. "Good luck, kid." She shoots him a look that has him giggling.
Maggie jogs onto the stage, waving at the crowd as she gets set up at the mic. "Hey y'all." She jumps slightly at the feedback the mic gives. "It's an honor to be up here in front of all y'all today." She nervous, her heart pounding in her throat as her sweaty fingers slide around the neck of her guitar. She sets her guitar to the side. "This first song is called Must've Never Met You." She licks her lips as she closes her eyes, her hand on the mic.
"I guess whoever said the grass was greener, must've never seen the other side. What don't kill you makes you stronger sure sounds like a lie. And whoever said that time heals everything and everything'll be alright? Whoever said 'it ain't the end of the world, you can find somebody new', must've never met you..."
She stops and lets the crowd scream her song back, her mood lifting as she looks at the fans in front of her and then over at her boyfriend and best friends.
After she sings Straight Up Sideways followed by Hell Yeah, she's helping pack up the stage gear. Morgan suddenly grabs her arm and pulls her to the side. "You okay?"
"Yeah." She mumbles, refusing to look up at him.
"What's goin' on with you, Gracie? I'm real worried."
"There's just a lot goin' on and I'm ready to go home and finally get some alone time." She whispers into his ear, pressing her lips against his jaw before she spins on her heel and makes her way back to the bus. Morgan smacks her ass playfully as they step back onto the cramped tour bus. She changes her clothes and slides into her bunk, laying awake until the sunrise.

"Brooks!" Someone borderline screams, startling everyone backstage at the show in Missouri. "Brooks!" Maggie looks up from her guitar in time to watch said man booking it across the stage to a guy cradling his arm against his chest with pain smeared over his flushed face.
"What the fuck happened!?" Brooks shouts.
Soon, everyone is surrounding the two guys while an EMT pushes her way to the center. "Okay, you're fine." She says, handling the injured arm gently. "You broke your wrist."
"What!? No!" Adam, the drummer, shrieks as she moves his arm. "I-I can't have a broken wrist-"
"You do."
"Fuck- what the hell are y'all gon' do without a drummer!?" Dean asks, messing with the buttons on his shirt.
"Mags can drum." Morgan says, his pointing at the curly blonde.
"No she can't." She responds quickly.
Morgan grabs her arm and pulls her off to the side. "C'mon, I know you can-"
"No way!"
"She said she'll do it!" He shouts over her.
"But-"
"C'mon! You gotta run through Hardy's songs!"
"But-!"
"C'mon!" Michael grabs Maggie's hand and pulls her to the drum kit, shoving her to sit on the small stool. "Okay, I'm opening with Rednecker so here are the beats Adam and me came up with-"
"Michael-"
"Shh!" He cuts her off, snagging a box of sticks to slide in the bag hanging off the snare. She looks over at the laptop on the stand next to her and takes a deep breath before pounding the shit out of the drum heads, her foot moving on the pedal at the kick drum.
"I had no idea she could drum." Brooks says, his a bottle of Gatorade in his hand.
"She don't like to tell nobody." Morgan butts in. "It's her secret talent."
"I thought singin' was her secret talent." Michael comments, wiping his glasses off with his t-shirt.
"I'm full of secrets." She mumbles, standing from the drum set. "I need a drink if I'm gonna play for y'all."
"Sounds good." Michael follows her back to the back of the venue where their clothes and things are set up at. "Here." He hands her a solo cup with a shot in it.
She looks down at the shot, the pregnancy shock rattling around in her head as she swirls the liquid on the plastic up. When Michael's back is turned she pours it down the sink. She picks up at bottle of water and take a swig. "Shit, I gotta change." She turns to her plastic bin and pulls out a pair of jeans and a cropped tank top.
Morgan smiles at her from his spot on the couch, patting the space next to him. She sits, her head on his shoulder with his arm around her. "You nervous?"
"When am I not nervous?" She shoots back, twisting her fingers with his. "I gotta tell you somethin-"
"Mags, c'mon!" Brooks shouts from the hallway. She huffs and stands, grabbing Morgan's hand to lead him to the stage. He spins her with his hands on her hips and kisses her before he sends her out to the drum kit. She laughs as she steps onto the platform and sits on the leather stool, stepping on the kick drum pedal a couple times as Michael rushes out on stage.
"We've got a very special guest on the drums tonight: Miss Maggie Wilson." She gives them a confident drumroll before a shy wave. Morgan smiles comfortingly at her, nodding to help ease her nerves. Michael nods at her to, signaling her to start with Rednecker and she absolutely kills it.
She's impressed with herself for drumming as clean as she did after ten or so years of not touching a drum kit or sticks.
She's sweating by the last song; He Went To Jared. Morgan comes bouncing on stage with that big goofy grin of his, belting out his lines.
Maggie sings along with them, laughing at herself as she ends the set with a dramatic roll, the cymbals crashing in time with the lights that go off now that the sun is setting.
Michael's set ends and Maggie is filing off the stage behind Dean and Marty, the bass player. Morgan grabs her with an arm around the waist and spins her around, laughing with her. "I'm so proud of you, Gracie." He says, kissing her.
"Thanks." She giggles, dropping to her feet.
"Okay y'all." Brooks says, gathering everyone at the door of the bus. "I wanted to thank all y'all for workin so damn hard this tour, especially Mags." She waves him off, rolling her eyes. "Seriously, you kicked this tour's ass."
"No, I couldn't have done this without all y'all's help so thanks." She smiles as she leans into Morgan's side.
"Sad to see this tour end but also relieved- I know y'all're feelin' the same way." There's a collective laugh. "C'mon, let's get back home."
And soon, they're on their way back to Nashville, Tennessee.
=
"What was it you wanted to tell me?" Morgan asks as they move their things into the house from the porch after the bus had dropped them off at six in the morning.
"Oh- it's nothin'-" she shakes her head as she picks up a guitar case in each hand.
"Mags, c'mon now." Morgan says somewhat sternly as he leans against the kitchen counter.
She swallows hard. "I'm pregnant."
