《Flower Shops [m.w]》Chapter 7

After her day out on Saturday, Lacey went back to her apartment and enjoyed the rest of her weekend by herself, just relaxing. Monday morning rolled around and she dragged herself out of bed, getting ready and grabbing a cup of coffee on her way out. She was getting in her car when Blakes name popped up on her phone

Blake: Hey! Do you want to grab lunch today?

She smiled at her phone for a second before replying

Lacey:Yea, of course. What time?

Blake:I was thinking around 12. I can pick you up from your work.

Lacey:Ok, that's perfect. See you soon!!

When Lacey got to work she went to her new office that she was informed she received this morning via email and began working on some songs by herself. She had got there pretty early so no one was there yet and she could have some peace and quiet. It was almost eight and Lacey headed to the kitchen to rinse out her coffee from earlier. She was looking at her phone when she rounded the corner and ran into a tall, hard figure. Screaming she threw her cup in the air and jumped back.

"What the hell!" she screamed.

Morgan, not quite so shaken said "Damn Lace, what's got ya so jumpy?"

"I didn't think anyone was going to be here, that's all" she said, picking up her cup and walking past him into the kitchen "We've really gotta stop running into each other like that"

"Why ya here so early?" he asked

"Just wanted a little time to myself to work"

"I've got an early meeting," Morgan said, answering a question that wasn't asked

Lacey simply nodded, finished filling her cup with water, and walked back to her office, leaving him standing there.

Hours passed and Lacey worked on her songs for Lainey and other artists like Hardy and Luke Combs, which she was very excited about, but was ready for a break. All of her creative energy ran out as she heard her stomach grumble. She looked at her phone to see that the time was 11:56. Not realizing she had been working for so long, she ran to the bathroom and touched herself up while waiting for Blake. She finished straightening up and walked out of the bathroom.

She turned the corner to find Morgan...again.

"Hey Lace, I was gonna grab some lunch and I was wonderin' if you'd come, I think we need talk." He said with a welcoming yet serious tone.

"Thanks for the offer, but Blake is pickin' me up. You remember him from the other night" She said.

"Oh um yea.. y'all datin' now?" he asked his face falling slightly

Lacey became slightly uncomfortable, noticing how much of an effect this had on Morgan. "Yea I guess you could say that"

"Well have fun" Morgan said with tight lips and walked away seeming almost angry

Now Lacey was just mad. He had no right to be upset by this. He had a girlfriend, a very serious and public one at that. She was allowed to enjoy her life. He was the one that left, not her.

Lacey saw Blake pulling into the parking lot in his black Range Rover from the window. She grabbed her bag and met him outside. She went to the passenger side and got in. He smiled and said

"So, I was thinking we could go to Ergo. Its a place downtown"

"Ok, whatever you think, you're the one from around here!" Lacey said with a smile, not wanting to mention that she wasn't much of a city girl.

As they made their way to the restaurant they made small talk, talking about work and friends and such. Soon they had arrived at Ergo. Lacey immediately noticed it was a pretty nice place with mostly fancy cars parked outside. They both got out and walked to the front door, Blake opened the door for her and walked in behind her.

The interior was mostly white, black, and gray with modern decoration and lots of plants. They walked up to the front desk where Blake asked for a table for two. They were seated immediately.

"So, how was your day?" asked Blake

"It was pretty good, I got to work early and worked on some new stuff. I like to get there early and have some peace and quiet. Thats what I thought I was gonna get this morning, but there were already people there which kinda ruined it, but it was ok. I still got a lot done. How about you?"

"Lots of meetings. We have hired a lot of new people recently so I have been having to train them all which has been bit of a pain in the ass, but can't complain"

Lacey began looking at the menu, noticing they only had fancy things with names she couldn't pronounce, She just settled for a salad.

"You said you were from Sneedville?"

"I did"

"Tell me about it. I'm assuming it's a pretty country place, judging by your accent" He said with a small laugh

"Yes, it's a tiny town. I only had about 100 people in my graduating class, but it was fun. You could always find a good time like going to the lake on the outskirts of town. There was a big lookout over it where most of the parties went down and there was a small cafe kinda place called Eddie's where everyone hung out a lot. I loved growing up there." She said, reminiscing about her childhood.

"That sounds fun. I grew up here but mostly in the suburban areas. I never really realized how rural it can get once you get out of Nashville"

"Oh yeah, I went drivin' around the other day. There is a lot of pretty farm land once you get out of the city. You know Morgan is actually from Sneedville too" Lacey said feel almost obligated to. Damn him for squeezing himself into her mind, yet again

"Really? Did y'all know each other"

"Yea, we hung out sometimes" she didn't go into further detail, not wanting to drag up the past or let Blake know that they had history.

Lacey and Blake ate and talked for the good part of an hour before they both had to go back to work. Blake paid the bill and took Lacey back to Big Loud. When they got there Blake got out of the car too, giving Lacey a hug, and to her surprise, a small kiss on the lips. Her face immediately got a little red. Smiling Blake said "I had a great time. We need to do this again"

Lacey still flustered managed to spit out " Yes for sure" with a smile she hurried towards the door and walked in still smiling
