"Roses?"
"A dozen of em."
"Just out of the blue?"
"Yeah."
"Morgan?"
"Yep."
Kate blushes as she looks down at her coffee mug, sitting at the small kitchen table. Taylor grins back at her from her spot on the counter.
"He's head over heels in love with you."
"Oh no he's not."
"Kay, Morgan is in love with you. You just gotta open your eyes and let him back into your heart."
"I'm scared to." She admits. "He's changed since high school- I have too. We're not the same, T. What if- what if we don't work out?"
"Then y'all don't work out." She shrugs back. "He's not the only guy, you know."
"He's the only guy for me." She says then stands. "I swear."
Taylor smiles. "I knew it." She squeals. "I knew it!"
She rolls her eyes but smiles. "I still can't believe he sent me roses and violets and daisies."
"Looks like it was a good day for flower shops."

Kate smiles as she sits at the bar, her flowy red dress pooling around thighs, the thin straps contrasting against her tan skin. She makes small talk with the bartender as she waits for her date to join her.
The bartender sets a shot of whiskey in front of her and she knocks it back. Her next one has her feeling relaxed.
"You look too beautiful to be settin' by yourself."
Kate turns and her face lights up. "Hey!" She laughs, wrapping her arms around Morgan. He laughs back, sitting next to her. He orders a drink, his hand resting on her back. "Man, it's nice bein' out again."
Morgan takes a swallow of his drink then looks him over. "You are so beautiful." She rolls her eyes and blushes. "Wow."
"You're so cheesy." She playfully pushes his head. "Thanks for goin' out with me."
"Thanks for invitin' me." He grins back, looking her over again. She feels so comfortable around him.

"Let's dance!" Kate smiles, grabbing his hand. She pulls him out to the small designated dancing area in front of the stage.

Kate groans, running her fingers through her hair as she looks over some paperwork. It's some shit for Riley's album and she's so not interested in it at all. Her glasses slide down her nose and she huffs in annoyance.
Everything around her is annoying her.
She tosses her glasses down on her desk then stands, pacing around her office.
There's a knock on the door.
"Yeah."
"Flowers for Miss Katie Hurst." Morgan says, a bouquet of hydrangeas in his hand and a shit eating grin on his face.
"Well, I'll be." She says in a sweet southern voice, leaning back against her desk, watching him shut the door behind him.
He licks his lips as he sets the flowers down next to her, his hands going behind her on the desk. She leans back, her head lulling to the side when he starts kissing her neck softly.
Kate lets him spread her legs and stand between them, his kisses slowly moving down to the neckline of her blouse. He starts unbuttoning a few buttons at the top.
She threads her fingers through his soft strands of hair, a smirk on her face.
Her skirt is hiked up and her panties are moved to the side. Just as Morgan pushes into her, there's a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" She asks, breathing hard already. Morgan has his face buried in her shoulder, forcing himself to stay still in case it's someone important on the other side of the door.
"Riley."
"Shit." She mutters, rolling her eyes. "I forgot we gotta meetin' for his new album." She glances at the clock on the wall. "Son of a bitch."
Morgan groans quietly as he pulls away from her. "Come over and I'll take care of this." She whispers into his ear.
"Can I come in or...?"

"Hang on." She huffs, hopping off her desk while fixing her skirt. She gets her buttons redone as Morgan tucks himself away. "Come in."
Riley's blue eyes land on Morgan. He stops mid movement as he buckles belt and Riley gets visibly angry.
"I'm gonna get goin." Morgan says, giving Kate a soft smile. "See you later."
"Bye." She waves him off, a blush coloring her cheeks. "Have- Have a seat, Riley."
He sits in the leather arm chair, his long legs stretched out in front of him. "What's up?"
"Just need you to look over what we came up with for your album 'fore we release it." She turns the computer screen toward him.
Riley leans forward, his eyes on Kate and her unbuttoned blouse. They move from her still flushed face to her wrinkled shirt.
He wishes they were still together.
They were good together.
"Looks good." He mumbles, turning the screen back around.
"Then we are all set to release this in a couple weeks!" She grins, filing away some papers.
Riley stands to leave but his eyes linger on her partially exposed cleavage. "You look good, Katie." He says, mindlessly licking his lips.
"Thanks." She responds flatly, crossing her arms. Riley looks down at his shoes, a small smile on his face. "Somethin else I can help you with, Mr. Green?" She asks, crossing her legs, her pencil skirt riding up slightly, showing the bottom of her hip tattoo.
Riley steps closer to her, his hands slipping into his pockets. He can see what's running through her mind right now. He knows she's still riled up from whatever her and Morgan were doing before he came into the room.
Kate swallows hard, a burning blossoming between her thighs and belly.
"I- I think you should leave." She says, reading his mind. "Please." Riley steps closer to her, her breathing goes shallow.
Kate stands and steps away. "I'll see you later, Ri." She states, gathering her things.
Riley watches her leave, sighing heavily.
He misses her, honestly.
He misses everything about what they had.

"Hey, what're you doin' out here?" Morgan asks when he sees Kate leaning against the railing of the porch. "It's freezin'. You okay?"
Kate glances behind her then nods.
"C'mere." He wraps an arm around her, holding her close under the blanket he brought out with him. "What's up?"
"Just a lot on my mind." She sighs back. "I dunno if I told you but in two months I gotta go on a tour with Riley and- uh- Thomas Rhett and FGL."
"How long?"
"Four months, I think." She shrugs, cuddling further against his side as a cold breeze blows through. "End of May through September."
"That's a long tour."
"Sparse dates." She responds, burying her face against his chest. "I don't wanna go."
"I'm sorry, Katie." He whispers, rubbing her back through the blanket. "But you can handle this. You're strong, okay?"
She rolls her eyes but nods. "It's just gonna suck bein' away from you for sixteen weeks."
"Are you sayin' you're gonna miss me?" He teases.
"Pfft no." Morgan pokes her in the belly, laughing when she squeaks. "I just wish you could go with us."
"You'd get so sick of me."
"We've been on tour together before."
"And we fought a lot."
Kate sighs. "It's gonna suck."
"Well with that attitude yeah, it will." Morgan kisses her forehead. "You got this, babe. It's just for a few months."
She sighs and nods, rubbing her face with her hand. "You're right. It's just a few months. Nothin' I can't handle."
"That's right." He kisses her forehead again. "C'mon back to bed. It's cold."
