《Flower Shops - Morgan Wallen》4
Katie looks over at Evan as he sleeps peacefully next to her, his hands resting on his belly while he lays on his back, soft steady exhales falling from his barely parted lips.
She hasn't been able to get that kiss she shared with her ex out of her mind and it happened weeks ago.
Morgan hasn't tried to make another move on her since but she kind of wishes he has. She missed his touch. She had no idea how boring Evan was until that kiss.
That fucking kiss.
After he kissed her like that, Katie promptly went home and fucked her boyfriend with her ex in her mind. Yeah, that's a shitty thing to do but Evan is so boring.
Whoops.
It had to be said.
Yes, Evan is the kindest man ever but a good heart doesn't make up for being boring in the sack.
Morgan's got both; good in bed and a huge heart.
She sighs as she sits up, pulling sweats on before heading out to the kitchen, pouring herself a glass of water. She looks down at her phone and taps on Taylor's name hoping she'll give her words of advice.
"This better good." Taylor's sweet voice snaps. "It's three in the goddamn mornin'."
"I kissed Morgan."
"Morgan?"
"Morgan Wallen Morgan." She sighs, rubbing her eyes under her glasses. "He's my- I manage him now and he kissed me and I kissed him back."
"Holy shit."
"Who knows what would've happened if we didn't stop?"
"Oh, you woulda fucked him." Taylor states. "I know you and I know him and y'all's chemistry is off the charts."
"You think Evan isn't the right guy?"
"If he makes you happy then he's the right guy. I'm not one to tell you how to live your life." She responds. "But, if you want my honest opinion, no. I don't think he's the right guy."
"Thanks, T."
"So was this kiss just a kiss or was it more than that?"
Kate laughs quietly. "It was so hot." She's blushing at her words. "Got me all worked up."
Taylor giggles then yawns. "I gotta get back to bed. Good luck with your boy problems. Lemme know how it goes."
"Night, T. Love you."
"Love you too." She says then hangs up.
Katie exhales heavily as she sits back on the couch and runs her hand through her hair. She hates how Morgan is still on her mind.
Evan stirs awake when he reaches his arm out. He grunts softly as he sits up and makes his way out to the living room.
"What're you doin' up?" He mumbles, his voice thick with sleep.
"Couldn't sleep." She shrugs back. "Why're you up?"
He licks his lips. "Felt lonely." He kisses her cheek but she subconsciously pulls away. "What's up?"
"I need to tell you somethin'." His face drops. "I kissed my ex."
"What? When?"
"Couple weeks ago."
"Couple weeks ago!?" He repeats, his volume making her shrink in on herself. "What the fuck, Kaitlyn!?"
"Don't yell at me. It's not like I slept with him."
"You kissed him though!"
She's never seen Evan upset before. Seeing him livid actually makes her feel scared.
"Fuck you." He spits. "I can't believe this."
"It was just a kiss, Evan." She whispers. He clenches his jaw as he pushes past her to get dressed. "Evan. Evan-!"
"I'm done. I'm gone." He snatches his keys off the counter then slams the door shut behind him.
Kate knows it's good that she was honest with him. She knows that they weren't a forever thing but it still hurts. The way he yelled at her hurt the most, though.
Tears swell in her eyes as she heads back to her bedroom, willing herself not to cry over a boy again.

"Here." Kate hands Morgan a plane ticket the following morning. "I got you a show in Pensacola."
His brows furrow. "Florida?"
"Yep." She slides her glasses to the top of her head. "Then I got you a tour with Riley Green."
"Wow."
He wasn't expecting that. His old manager struggled to get him a gig at least once every few months but Katie is killing the game.
"I got you a hotel room for two days in the Panhandle so you can sight see or whatever." She hands him a print out of his hotel.
"You comin'?"
"I have to. You signed me on as your tour manager in addition to your manager manager." She suppresses a yawn.
Morgan looks her over, she looks exhausted. "You okay?"
"Yeah." She nods. "Yeah, I'll, uh, meet you at the airport in a couple days, okay?" She gives his bicep a squeeze then picks up her purse.
Morgan smiles to himself at the plane ticket. "Okay." He whispers, thumping it against his fingertips. "Hell yeah." He pockets it then heads out to his truck.
He's never been to Pensacola, neither has Kate but they're both honestly excited.
+++
"You're late." Kate yawns, giving Morgan a dirty look.
He gives her the same look back, the bags under his eyes dark. "I overslept."
"C'mon."
She takes his wrist and pulls him to the American Airlines security check. They make it through, no problems then they're at their gate.
"First class, huh?" Morgan says, trying to keep a conversation with her as they wait for their plane.
"For you. I'm in coach."
"What? Why?" He snatches her ticket and looks at it. "You- you take it."
"No. It was cheaper." She shrugs, taking it back. "They just called you, man."
Morgan huffs, giving her a look. "You-"
"Go, Morgan." She says tiredly. "Just- don't fight me on this."
He rolls his eyes as he heads to the door. He gives her one more look before he goes down the Jetway. Katie sits for a while before her group is called.
When she gets on the plane, Morgan grabs her arm. "Sit here. The seat is empty."
"Wha-?"
He pulls her down next to him then stuffs her bag into the overhead storage bin. "There."
"I can't-"
"You will." She huffs and crosses her arms, looking out the window when the plane starts moving.
This is her first time on a plane.
As they start going up, Katie immediately clenches her hand around the arm rest. Morgan coaxes it lose then slips his hand into hers, his thumb brushing across her knuckles. So what that they're not dating? They're kinda friends. He still knows how to comfort her when she's feeling worked up.
She relaxes when the plane steadies.
Her head drops back against the headrest, her eyes shut. She falls into a light sleep shortly after they're in the air.
Morgan elbows the arm rest up to give himself more room. Kate's curled up against the wall so he figured why not. He leans his head back, his eyes shut too, trying to get used to the motion of the plane.
An hour or so passes and Katie's head slips to Morgan's shoulder, she's still out. He cracks an eye open and looks over, smiling to himself as he rests his hand on her knee, gently brushing his fingertips across her flushed skin. She wraps her arm around his, his touch keeping her relaxed.
He rests his cheek against the top of her head and smiles. He hates how she makes him feel tingly without even trying.
When the plane lands in Florida, Morgan rubs her knee. "Katie, we're here."
She silently yawns, lifting her head. "Sorry." She mumbles, picking her glasses up from the seat pocket in front of her. She slides them on then stands, watching Morgan pull their bags from the overhead storage.
"Where do we go from here?" He asks, ignoring her outstretched hand as he grips her bag strap.
"I got a rental car set up and we can check into the hotel."
"Cool."
The two make it to the rental car and over to the hotel she booked.
+++
"What do you mean the second room is gone?" She asks. Morgan's room got taken because they missed their check in time without a notice. "No, ma'am, listen." She takes a deep breath. "That's not- we can't-"
"I can do a room with two queens but that's gonna cost a little more or y'all can stick with the one queen you got and we can knock a few off the price." The girl behind the desk says.
Katie glances at Morgan. "We can handle that." He says for her. "It's just for a couple nights."
Kate nods. "We'll do that," She takes the keys from her. "Thank you."
"Enjoy your stay."
Morgan follows her to the elevator. "We've slept in the same bed before. It's nothin' we can't handle. I know you's got a boyfriend so I'll keep my distance."
She chuckles. "I don't got a boyfriend but you're right. It's nothin' we can't handle."
The door chimes open and they make it down the hallway. She opens the door and they step inside.
Kate lays back on the bed and exhales heavily. "Sorry." She sighs. "I don't want you to feel awkward."
"Oh, it takes a lot for me to feel awkward." He says as he lays next to her. "You look stressed."
"I do?"
"Yeah." He turns on his side. "Your eyebrows are furrowed." He pokes her forehead. "Relax."
"You wanna go out? We're real close to downtown."
"Sure." He stands and pulls his t-shirt off to button a cut off on. She blushes slightly as she digs through her bag for her curve hugging flares and a tight tank top. She changes in the bathroom, messes with her hair and puts her contacts in then she's back in the room with Morgan.
"Ready?"
+++
"Okay, c'mon Katie." Morgan chuckles, his arm locked around her waist as they walk back to the hotel. "We gotta- we gotta- heh, we gotta-"
She cuts him off by pressing her hand rather hard against his mouth, giggling quietly. "You gotta stop talkin'."
They laugh hard as they stumble through the hotel's main doors. "Man, I gotta pee." She exhales. "You really- you's still cute as hell, Morgan. You's ain't changed since high school." Her southern accent gets slower and stronger the drunker she gets. "I'd still fuck 'round withcha."
He snorts, leaning against their door as he slides the key in. "You're still beautiful as hell, y'know that?" He responds, stumbling when the door opens. "C'mon!"
Kate lets out an exasperated moan when she gets to the bathroom. "Morgan, we're drunk."
"That we are." He says, kicking his boots off.
Kate stands in front of him as he sits on the edge of the bed they're sharing, her hands on his shoulders. "Your eyes." She whispers, her thumb brushing across his cheek. Katie leans down and kisses him, lowering herself to sit on his lap, slipping her tank top straps off her shoulders. "I missed this." She breathes as she starts clumsily undoing the buttons of his cutoff, tugging on his belt.
She pulls her top off, looking down at her ex with blown out pupils. He wraps his arm around her then flips them so she's on her back and in one swift motion, he's got his hips flush against hers.
