Dustin Lynch as Preston Oliver
The following morning, Haley tip toes into Morgan's room. She sits next to him as he sleeps and runs her hand through his hair before pressing her lips against his cheek. He hums and stirs, slowly opening his big blue eyes. "Mornin'." He mumbles in a deep, sleep filled voice that gives her goosebumps everywhere.
"Time to get up." She whispers, still running her hand through his hair, smiling as he fights to keep his eyes open. "Lots to do today." He groans as he sits up. "Downstairs; fifteen minutes." She kisses his lips before bouncing back to her room to get dressed.
Morgan groans again as he pulls on his Levi's and a long sleeve t-shirt with a hoodie on top. He pops his Hancock County Co-Op hat on then heads to the bathroom to clean himself up before going downstairs to the kitchen.
"Mornin'!" Haley beams, scrambling some eggs. "Have a seat at the table!"
Morgan does as he's told, sitting one down from Clay, whose at the head of the table. He lets his tired eyes rake over his girlfriends figure in a pair of tight, curve hugging jeans, a Carhartt tee, a zip up hoodie and a Case IH hat on top of her pulled back hair.
"Stop it, son." Clay says, noticing how the boys eyes are stuck on his daughter.
"Here y'all go." Haley slides two plates of eggs and bacon on the table in front of two of her favorite guys. She sits across from Morgan and eats the quick breakfast with them, the three talking quietly so that Louisa May can still sleep in.
After they eat and Haley does the few dishes, they're taking the bench seat truck to the back barn.

Haley is hanging halfway out of a tractor engine when she feels a hand on her ankle. She jumps, smacking her head on the hood. "Son of a bitch." She groans, slipping to sit on the step into the cab.
"I'm so sorry!" Morgan gasps, standing next to her as he rubs his hand against the spot of her head where she hit it. "Are you okay?"
"'Side from the mild concussion, yeah." She chuckles, looking up at him. "How're you doin'?"
"I'm havin' a lot of fun." He says honestly, tucking a hand in his pocket after packing in a pinch.

"I'm glad." She smiles back, tugging him to sit with her, scooting to the dirt below them.
Haley sits with her legs over Morgan's, her hands holding one of his as they chit chat for a couple minutes before the walkie talkie in the cab chirps. "Shit, gotta get back." She sighs, leaning against the tractor before she stands.
"You look great in them jeans, darlin'." Morgan says, biting his lip as he gives her ass a light snack.
She shoots him a wink before she picks up the walkie talkie. "What's up, daddy?"
"I need you to run into town and pick up my truck from Oliver's. He just called the house and said it's done."
"Sure, Morgan and I can do that in a couple hours."
"Oh, you can go now, baby. Oliver's closin' up early today."
"You gon' be okay on your own?"
"Don't you worry 'bout me, baby." Clay chuckles before he pops the walkie talkie back into the pocket of his shirt.
"C'mon." Haley grabs Morgan's hand and starts walking toward the equipment barn. "I gotta set up a trailer." She sighs. "Man, I hate hookin' up trailers." She says as she hops into the cab of a truck, quickly backing up to turn around.
Haley effortlessly gets the trailer hitched up in less than twenty minutes and Morgan blown away. "Don't give me that look." She mumbles as she latching the lock.
"That's the hottest thing I've ever seen." He bites his lip, leaning against the truck with his arm on the edge of the bed. "Seriously."
She blushes, climbing back into the cab with Morgan sitting shotgun. "Oliver's on the other side of town." She tells him as she's throws the diesel into drive, starting down the dirt driveway.
Morgan can't stop himself from looking her over, the way her lips are pursed in concentration as she drives, the way she's constantly looking in the tow mirrors at the empty trailer, the way her body bounces with each pot hole she hits, hell, even the way she's holding the goddamn steering wheel- He's tingling.
"Before we pick up the truck, wanna quick tour?" She asks as she's stopped at the end of the driveway. Morgan bites his lip again. "We don't have time to fuck around and get the truck and do a tour."

"Then just do the tour tomorrow and let's just fuck." He breathes, his arm on the back of the bench seat with his fingers rubbing against the back of her neck. She takes in a deep breath before pulling away from him slightly. She fights against her own wants as she rolls into town, her lip tucked between her teeth with Morgan's eyes occasionally running over her face and figure.

"Hey, I'm here to pick up a truck." Haley tells the cute boy behind the counter at the shop. "Clayton Mack's truck. It's a Chevy Silverado."
The guy, Preston, nods and turns to the shelf of small cubbies, pulling a ticket with the keys taped to it. "I'll bring it round front for you, Haley."
"Thanks, Preston." She smiles, turning to the door.
She hops back into the cab of the truck and starts it up. "Gotta back this damn thing up." She mumbles, taking a deep breath before swinging around toward the road, hanging half way out the window as she backs up, her tongue sticking out and her ass in the air, Morgan can't help but check her the fuck out.
"Looks good!" Preston shouts of the rumble of the diesel engines. He creeps the truck up the flatbed trailer before hopping out to help the cute girl with the straps and chains.
"How ya been?" Haley asks as she tightens a strap.
"Been here." He responds, hooking a chain around the front end of the truck. "Haven't see you 'round here for a while, where you been?"
"Nashville." She says, taking his outstretched hand as she hops off the trailer.
"How long you back for?"
"Couple more days. Been busy with the farm." She tucks her hands in her pockets. "I gotta get goin'. My fella's waitin' for me." She hitches her thumb to the cab of the truck before giving him a friendly smile.
"Who's that?" Morgan asks, watching the attractive man scuff his boots on the dirt lot as he walks back into the shop, his hands in his pockets.
"Preston Oliver, just, uh, a kid I went to school with." She sighs as she puts the truck into drive and soon, the couple are on the road back to the farm.
***
After everything is done for the day, Haley and Morgan are sitting on the tailgate of a farm truck in the middle of a field, stargazing.
"You're so beautiful." Morgan whispers, his arms tucked behind his head as he looks over at her. "I think I'm fallin' in love with you."
"What?" Haley asks, her face pink from the surprise and the sun.
Morgan sighs and leans up on his elbow. "What?" She chuckles and rests her head on his chest, smiling brightly. He smiles too, running his hand through her hair.
"I think I'm fallin' in love with you too."
***
"You better come back soon." Sam says, his hands on his little sisters shoulders. "I mean it."
"I promise." Haley nods, tears in her eyes.
"Haley Mae." Wes sighs, wrapping her in a tight hug, his chin on the top of her head. "I'm gon' miss you."
"I'm gon' miss you too." She sniffles, tears actually slipping down her cheek when she looks up at her favorite man; her father. "Daddy, I-"
Clay nods, holding his little girl in his arms, tears of his own in his eyes. "You better come back soon." He whispers, hugging her tighter. "And I like Morgan, he's a good one."
Haley chuckles as she pulls away, wiping her cheeks. "Momma."
"Haley Mae, if you don't get your ass back here soon, I'm gon' drive myself up to Nashville and-" Louisa May sighs, hugging the girl, running her hand through her hair. "I love you."
"I love you too, momma. I love all y'all and I'm gon' miss y'all." She brushes away more tears. "We better get goin'." Morgan gives her a soft smile, rubbing her back as they head back to her Dodge Ramcharger.
As soon as she climbs into the drivers seat, Haley drops her head against the steering wheel and lets out a sob, trying to keep it quiet. Morgan's heart aches as he pulls her close, rubbing her back as she cries against his shoulder. "I'm sorry. Leavin' 'em is harder than I thought it'd be." She sniffles, taking a deep breath. "Sorry."
"It's okay, darlin." He whispers, kissing her temple. "Let's just get home."
Haley huffs as she slides back into the drivers seat, running a hand through her hair before she throws her car into drive and they're soon on the road back to Nashville.

Despite appearances, there was once a time where monsters did not exist. Where peace and prosperity reigned over all life. They wanted to taint it, corrupt it, revel in its dark side. This is the story of a boy who was tainted. Of a boy who unintentionally bore a seed of sin and who in his naivety let it out. This is the story of how that boy was shamed and disgraced. Of how he was outcast for simply being. This is the story of how that boy learned to embrace the darkness that made him different. A darkness that would later make him known as the Lord of Night. Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.
