《Nothing Lasts Forever》Epilogue 3.0

"Whoa" I whisper as I enter through the door of our rented beach house's bedroom.
Upon entering the large room my eyes immediately land on the large king size bed, the back of the oak headboard resting against the cream painted walls.
The glossy, tanned wood of the floor boards contrast this.
The white trim lines the bottom of the wall as well as the top of it, connecting to the matching ceiling and ceiling fan.
Directly across from the large bed is a sliding glass door that leads out to a large private beach that only the residents of the beach houses are allowed to use.
To the left of the sliding door is a tanned wooden sofa frame with stone grey cushions and two powder white decorative pillows.
Two long floor lamps rest beside the couch, one on either side of the piece of furniture.
To the right of the sliding glass door is a circular mirror with a tan frame, the reflective glass being mounted on the cream colored wall.
Directly beside the mirror is a large flatscreen television that is also mounted onto the cream colored wall.
A tan wooden dresser, with six drawers, rests underneath the mounted television.
Believe me, I was fine with staying inside of a hotel.
Imagine my surprise when she pulled up to this beach house and she told me that she rented it out for two weeks just for our honeymoon.
"What are you looking at?" A familiar voice interrupts my thoughts.
A large dorky smile makes its way onto my face as the black haired girl places her bags beside mine that are currently on top of the white bedspread.
"I think that I am going to change and go down to the beach." I tell her.
"Do you want to join me?"
"Fuck yeah!" She answers, not taking long to answer.
-
"I can't see." I groan out with frustration.
"You're the one who wanted to come down here even though we didn't arrive at the beach house until twelve in the morning." Hunter scoffs.
I roll my eyes at her logic, but choose not to argue since she is correct in this situation.
The two of us continue to trudge through the loose sand, the moonlight lighting our path.
"Are you scared?"
My wife furrows her eyebrows at my question.
"Scared of what?"
"Scared of how crazy it's going to be when we go back in two weeks." I say.
"We have only been here for forty minutes and honestly I do not want to leave. It's so peaceful and most of the locals have absolutely no clue who we are."
Hunter uses one of her hands to grab ahold of my hand that is closest to her and immediately interlocks our cold fingers. I continue to talk as she does this.
"I mean, you saw how relentless the paparazzi and some of our supporters were."
"If we do not make some changes soon then we could possibly end up not only endangering ourselves, but our friends and families."
"How would we be endangering them?"
"Their information is publicly accessible online too, Hunter." I quip.
"If someone really wanted to, they could find their addresses and do who knows what." I finish.
A gust of wind brushes past us.
My brown hair blows into my face due to it not being tied up. While my hair is not tied up, Hunter's hair is pulled back into a Dutch braid.

She stops walking which forces me to stop walking as well and turn to face her. Turning to face her, I notice that her eyes are already on me.
The two of us are silent, the only sound coming from the large body of water that lays a foot away from us.
Hunter brings both of her hands up to my face and uses her pointer fingers to move the hair out of my face, neatly tucking it behind my ear before resting the palms of her hands on my cheeks. I feel her finger rest over the hair that she tucked behind my ears, holding the hair down so that the chilled wind does not blow it all over the place.
"We could get full-time security?" She suggests.
I quickly tilt my head from side to side a few times, not entirely hating the idea.
"Yeah, but the paparazzi still know where we live." I remind her.
True, they are going to know where we live if we move to a whole new neighborhood or stay in the apartment that we are currently living in, but in a more secure neighborhood we could hopefully keep them from trying to open and look through our windows.
"Okay," she gives me a singular nod.
"We could move into a more private neighborhood, you know, the ones with a large gate and full-time security?"
This time it is me who nods their head.
If we wanted to invite people over it would be so much safer, plus if we notice a paparazzi trying to hop the fence or trespass we can call law enforcement and they'll actually do something about it.
"There, it's settled. When we get back to California we'll go house shopping." My wife says as if it's the most normal thing ever.
A smile unconsciously makes its way onto my face, refusing to go away no matter how hard I try.
Our first house together.
Officially, that is.
"Deal."
The black haired girl leans down and places a lingering peck to my lips before pulling them away from mine.
The pad of her thumb slowly runs over my cheekbone in a calming manor.
"Can we go for a swim now, Princess?" She asks with a joking tone.
"No, I'd rather see you be executed."
She rolls her eyes at my sarcasm, the two of us soon bursting into light chuckles.
"Haha, so funny." Her sarcasm naturally flows off her tongue as we begin to enter the ocean.
The warmth of the large body of water contrasts the chilliness of the wind nicely.
I cannot believe that we currently have an entire beach to ourselves at the moment.
Hunter and I wade further and further into the salty water until it covers our chests.
"Why are you all the way other there?" She pouts.
"Come here."
I smile at her request and do as she says without even thinking away it.
My arms push back against the water which causes me to move closer towards the actress.
I do this three times before wrapping my arms around her shoulders when I inevitably reach her.
"I'm here."
She silently smiles at this.
"I love you." She whispers lowly.
You would think that she was telling me an important secret with how low her tone of voice is.
"I love you more." I reply.
"You wish." She scoffs, her arms now holding me against her.
I wait for the small wave to pass us before I begin to speak again.

"Hunter."
"Hmm?"
"Just kiss me already."
She does not waste a minute more as she leans in and connects our lips in a loving kiss.
-
I flush the toilet and use a paper towel to rid my lips of the excess throw up.
"Still feeling bad?" Hunter asks as she enters the bathroom.
I nod my head, too tired to respond as I am still waking up.
I was peacefully sleeping in Hunter's arms when I suddenly felt bile quickly rising up my throat.
Honestly, I have been feeling really nauseous for a week now but I have been able to push it down enough that I could get through whatever task I was in the middle of doing.
Unfortunately, these last two days it has been at its worst.
I can barely sleep and when I can sleep it's only for three or so hours before I feel the strong urge to vomit and have to rush into the bathroom.
Hunter presses a gentle peck to my sweaty forehead.
"How long have you been feeling sick?" She asks, handing me my toothbrush.
I thank her for this before making my way over towards the sink.
"All week." I answer.
Hunter goes silent for an abnormally long amount of time, longer than she usually does that is.
I take it that she is deep in thought about something, therefore I begin to brush my teeth and ignore her.
She is completely silent the entire time that I brush my teeth.
"Have you taken a pregnancy test?" She suddenly asks, causing me to jump a bit from fright.
Pregnancy test?!
"I'm not pregnant." I deadpan.
"How do you know that for sure?"
I freeze, not knowing how to respond.
"We've been sexually active practically the entire time that we've been here," Hunter continues when she realizes that I am not going to respond.
"Out of all of those times, we never used protection."
She's right.
Fuck! She's right.
A breathy groan exits my body and I bring my hands up to cover my head, the feeling of tears pricking my eyes.
"I cannot be pregnant right now,"
"This is quite literally the worst possible time to be pregnant."
I feel Hunter wrap her arms around me from behind.
"Technically, we don't know if you're pregnant yet." Hunter tries to help, but I just end up bursting into tears.
"Hey," she tries to grab my attention.
"Just take a test when we get back to California."
I sniffle my nose, removing my hands from my face and looking up at her through the mirrors reflection.
"And what if it reads positive? Then what?"
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there." She tells me.
Little did I know that the small white stick would in fact read positive.
-
"I'm home!" I yell as I enter the oddly quiet house.
At the sound of my voice, both the white Maltese dog and the two year old child come running in my direction.
"Mommy!" The toddler's squeaky voice greets me.
"Gia!" I mock, kneeling down to the ground in time to lift her up into my arms.
"How was my favorite girl?" I question as I make my way towards the kitchen.
The last three years have been...eventful to say the least.
As soon as Hunter and I got back to California I took a pregnancy test.
While waiting for those results, I asked Hunter to help distract me which she did by telling me that she's retiring from acting.
Honestly, she gave me some good reasons as to why, but deep down I knew that it was because she did not enjoy doing it.
She had been acting since she was seven years and at the time of her making that announcement she was twenty five years old.
To my understanding, she never truly had a childhood nor a normal teenage experience.
She's always been on a set.
Whether that set be for a commercial, informercial, television show or movie.
The last movie that she ever did was with me funnily enough.
Gigi got us guest starring roles on a really popular teen show for an episode before our characters got killed off.
The experience would have been more enjoyable if I was not a few weeks pregnant and throwing up every few hours, but Hunter made it tolerable.
Since she has decided to retire from acting, her mood and energy levels have been way higher than they were before.
Do not get me wrong, the bitch is still sarcastic as hell, but she is way more playful with it now versus before when she just appeared grumpy most of the time.
We waited until Gia was one to adopt a fluffy grey and white kitten as well as a Maltese puppy, both of which obviously grew as the years went on.
Gia Elena Carson-King, her name was very loosely inspired by Hunter and I's first movie together.
Hunter wanted to name her after me due to her thinking that Gia and I look more alike, but I convinced her to go with something that represents the both of us.
Thank fucking god that I did, especially since Gia looks more like Hunter everyday.
She even picked up on that annoying ticking sound that Hunter does with her mouth whenever she is trying to remember something.
Speaking of my wife, where is she?
"I've been great, baby."
Speak of the devil and she shall appear.
My wife presses a quick peck to my lips before making her way towards the refrigerator.
Our daughter gags us which causes both Hunter and I to chuckle.
"I was speaking to Gia." I say.
"Oh, I know."
I cannot help but roll my eyes.
"I missed you, Mommy." The two year old whines.
"I missed you too, pumpkin." I say which causes her to smile.
Noticing that Hunter is preparing Gia's lunch, I make my way into the den with the two year old still on my hip.
"Do you want to watch cartoons while Mom and I make lunch?" I ask.
The toddler agrees.
I carefully place her down onto the large couch and switch to the correct channel before making my way to the kitchen once again.
My wedges are heard against the hardwood flooring as I walk up behind my wife, who is cutting a chicken breast into long strips.
As soon as I reach her I wrap my arms around her midsection from behind and rest my cheek against her upper back.
The two us enjoy the calm silence.
"I cannot believe that this is actually our lives right now." I mumble again her back.
My wife chuckles, her laughter vibrating throughout her body.
"You did an amazing job raising her."
"We did an amazing job raising her." I emphasize.
Truthfully, I didn't think that my life would turn out like this in any way, shape, or form.
However, I am not complaining about it at all.
