《Nothing Lasts Forever》29. Movie Premeire

"What's wrong?" Hunter questions

I am currently sat in from of the mirror in my bedroom.

If I am being honest it feels sort of...odd to be in my bedroom again.

I continue to stare at straight at my unusual reflection in the large mirror.

"I kind of want to do something to my hair," I say

Hunter, who is currently laying on the lower end on my bed, makes a confused facial expression.

She silently expresses her confusion about my 'sudden' decision.

As someone who is not constantly in my mind I understand why this may seem like such a sudden decision.

"I just want a new look...you know?"

I turn around to face her so that I am looking at her eye to eye versus through a reflection.

By doing this I can truly see how much the actress has changed from the last time I saw her.

Her black hair that used to be long enough to reach her midsection now reaches her forearms, not

a big difference but a noticeable one.

It appears as if she got it cut shorter, but it inevitably began growing back as the months went on.

Although her skin looks paler somehow from the last time I saw her, her brown eyes contrast this.

Her previously brighter looking brown eyes seem to have lost a bit of their spark.

I guess these last ten months haven't been all sunshine and rainbows for her either.

"What's wrong?" I ask her this time around

She just stares at me. I would even go as far as to say she is giving me a rather judgmental look.

I assume that you can imagine my shock when Hunter suddenly smiles at me.

Her smile is a soft one, her lips being closed as the corner of said lips turn upwards.

"I just missed you."

A smile of my own makes its way onto my face.

I adjust my body so that I am now sitting on my calves.

I lean forward a bit so that I can give her a gentle kiss on her cheek.

As I pull away from her I maintain our close proximity.

"I love you" I tell her

"I love you more."

-

"I received your email and set up an appointment for you to get your hair and makeup done at four," my manager tells me

"I hired a car that'll take you to that as well as take you to your dress fitting after your hair and makeup is finished,"

"You and McKenna have to be at the Skyline Theater around eight in order to walk the red carpet and be interviewed all before the movie's premiere"

I nod my head.

"Who am I wearing?" I ask so that I can get the information memorized

"You are wearing Chanel" my manager responds

"Okay, I got it" I smile

"Anything else you want to ask me or just get off of your chest?" They ask

A genuine smile makes its way onto my face.

"No, that's all. Thanks Gigi."

The woman chuckles lightly at my tone.

"No problem, I'll send a car over around three thirty to take you to your appointments" she informs me

We bid each other goodbye before eventually hanging up the phone.

-

I stroll from my bedroom into the living room, following the strong aromatic smell.

I follow this smell all the way into the kitchen.

A look of amusement paints itself across my face at the sight in front of me.

Hunter's hair is neatly tucked behind her ears as she mixes an orange colored sauce in a large pan.

"Are you sure your hair shouldn't be up?" I question

The raven haired girl ceases mixing the contents of the sauce as she turns around to face me.

"It's pushed back" she says

I roll my eyes and make my way towards her.

"I meant in a ponytail or bun" I do not stop the chuckle that bubbles up my throat

Hunter immediately shakes her head.

"Absolutely not, I'm not in the mood to detangle my hair later,"

Before I can get the chance to ask any further questions the raven haired girl is holding a metal spoon full of the orange sauce.

"Try this for me"

I raise an eyebrow at her lack of the use of manners but taste the sauce anyways.

The second the sauce touches my tongue I want to throw up.

I do not hide my cringe as I remove the spoon from my mouth.

"I love you...."

I gently place one of my hands on her cheek.

"but please add salt to that at the very least" I beg her before walking towards the refrigerator

I desperately need to get this god awful taste off of my tongue.

-

'I wouldn't eat that if I were you.'

'Do you want to get fat, again?'

'...fatter than you already are that is.'

I lower the metal fork within my grasp that has pasta on top of it.

'That's right.'

'No one likes a fat celebrity.'

"Hey" the actress says softly

I feel Hunter grab ahold of my free hand.

This alerts me to the fact that I am physically shaking with fear.

I slowly turn to face the black haired girl who is already facing me.

"I can't do it...I-" I try to tell her

Hunter nods her head with an understanding facial expression.

"It's okay, Laney" she assures me with a gentle smile

Although she has a smile on her face I am able to sense a bit of disappointment exuding off of her.

I frown at this realization.

I do not want to hurt her.

I take a deep breath and try my best to block the cruel voices out of my head.

Unfortunately they are louder today than they have been in the past...or that is what it seems like to me.

I grab ahold of my fork and stab it into a few sauce covered pasta noodles.

I feel Hunter's eyes burn into the side of my face as she watches me closely.

Okay Delaney, it is now or never.

I quickly shove the forkful of pasta into my mouth, chewing it and swallowing it not too long afterwards.

'What did you just do?!' The voice reappears

Oh my god! They sound really angry!

'Hello?! Are you listening to me?!'

I shut my eyes really tightly as I try my best to focus solely on suppressing the internal voice.

'I'm trying to help you Delaney!'

'Hello?' The voice begins to fade out

'Hello?!' They attempt to question a bit louder but to no avail

I few more seconds pass by before I open my eyes again.

I am so tired of this never ending cycle....

It needs to end now.

-

I adjust the top of my dress before grabbing ahold of the driver's hand and carefully climbing out of the white limo.

I am currently dressed in a short, black velvet dress that ends around my mid thighs. Attached to the back portion of the dress is a mixture of black lace and feathers.

The designer said that the dress appeared "too basic" without it.

My hair is tied up in a neat bun in order to showcase said dress.

As for shoes I am just wearing a simple pair of black stilettos.

I have not seen Hunter since we ate a late lunch earlier today.

After the two of us ate lunch I had to leave so that I would not be late for my appointments meanwhile Hunter had another hour to waste.

We promised each other that we would meet at the premiere but it seems like she is not here yet.

I wave at the crowd of screaming paparazzi and fans as soon as I am completely out of the vehicle.

A lady makes her way towards me with a sign that has my name on it.

She leads me onto the carpet.

The lady kindly fixes my dress as I move and pose throughout the front of the red carpet.

Eventually I make my way towards the interviewers who are beginning to yell louder than the fans themselves.

"Hi" I greet the woman

She briefly greets back.

"How was it in rehab?" She does not waste any time

Wow!

A nervous laugh slips past my lips.

"Rehab was very...enlightening," I answer

"I truly feel like it was the right decision to admit myself" I smile

The lady nods her head, a wide smile resting on her lips.

"Was it an easy decision or a more difficult one to admit yourself?" She questions

I take a moment to answer her question.

"I'll be honest...it was difficult, but I am glad that I did it" I nod my head

The lady who is holding a paper with my name on it tells me that I need to move up the carpet.

I bid goodbye to the interviewer before making my way towards the next one.

"What was it like acting in your first movie?" He asks

I mentally thank him for asking me something that actually pertains to the theme of this movie premiere.

"It was so much fun!" I express with excitement

The reporter laughs along with me.

"Well that's great! Does this mean that we'll be seeing you on the big screen more often?"

I shrug.

"Maybe, maybe not" I answer

He nods.

He attempts to ask me another question but I am forced to move further down the carpet.

"Delaney and McKenna, or rather 'Mclaney' according to some fans who ship the two of you together," the new interviewer jumps right into it

Oh wow...

I nervously laugh at her, not entirely knowing how to respond to her statement.

"Tell us, are the two of you planning to get married anytime soon?"

My eyebrows raise with surprise at her enthusiasm.

Get married? When did we even confirm that we were dating publicly?

"Um...McKenna and I are really good friends?" I awkwardly respond

Wow! I do not even believe myself.

She nods her head.

"Well 'friends' get married all of the time" she tries to emphasize her point

I am a bit surprised.

She really likes to dig answers out of someone.

"She and I are not dating" I respond

Technically I am not lying...

"The photos don't lie, Delaney!" she tells me, clearly not willing to take 'no' for an answer

Thankfully I am ushered towards the next interviewer.

Before he can ask me any questions the crowd of fans begin to scream so loud that I temporarily go deaf in one of my ears.

Jesus Christ!

I notice that they are all looking in the direction where the limos pull up.

Unfortunately because I am so far away from that area I cannot see who is getting out of the vehicle.

"I think that McKenna just arrived" the interviewer says

Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense.

I try my best to peek around all of the heads so that I can confirm whether it is Hunter or not but there are just way too many heads.

"Umm...If you had to meet one of the characters in the movie in real life who would you choose?" He asks

I turn to face the reporter as I quickly look away from a group of girls who are yelling out to Wesley.

"I'd love to meet Genevieve because she is one of the coolest characters that I have ever read about" I say

He nods his head.

I do not miss the way that his eyes glance over towards something behind me, or should I say someone.

"Wesley Williams has joined the interview everybody!" The reporter practically congratulates

I smile as I try my best to hide my disgust.

It is harder to hide this disgust when he throws one of his arms over my shoulders.

"What's up?" Wesley greets the interviewer before glancing down at me

"Hello to you too, Delaney" he smirks

I try my best not to glare at him.

He is still trying to get a reaction out of me!

"Hi Wesley" I greet back with a cheery tone

The interviewer sighs at this.

"Wow! We finally have the two leads in an interview together!"

"Tell me, what was it like filming together?" The reporter rushes

I go to answer only to be cut off my Wesley.

"Acting alongside Delaney here was a dream,"

"She's a way better actress than anyone would think!" Wesley blabbers

My eyes widen at the words that leave his mouth.

"Filming with Wesley meant that there was never a dull moment" I choose to respond before making my way towards the next reporter

The reporter greets me and I greet them back.

"If you had to describe your character in five words which words would you use?" She asks

My eyes widen a bit at her question.

"Wow! That is such a great question." The best one today by far

"If I had to describe Princess Elaine in five words I'd for sure say that she is adventurous, brave, carefree, unapologetic..." I pause as I try to think of one last word

I only do this for a few moments when I am interrupted by a pair of arms wrapping themselves around my midsection.

The large crowd of teenage girls who are standing behind this interviewer go crazy at this, practically screaming at the top of their lungs.

Not wanting to start a scene, I glance down at the strangers hands only to immediately notice a 'D' ring on the person's pointer finger.

Hunter!

"Affectionate" the black haired girl adds

I nod my head with agreement.

Hunter and I wait until the lady clears us to enter through the door to the theater.

"I love your outfit" I compliment as I grab ahold of her hand and interlock our fingers

Hunter is wearing an all black suit, the midsection of the blazer being made of a corset material.

She paired this with a low ponytail and a pair of black triangle toe heels.

"Thanks, I love your kisses" she diverts the conversation

I roll my eyes at her diversion.

"Are my lips all that you think of?" I tease her

The two of us make our way towards our respective seats in the front row of the theater.

"Hmm...no" she reveals

This answer intrigues me.

"Really? What else do you think about?" I ask as we take our assigned seats which just so happen to be right next to each other

Hunter chuckles.

"That's a surprise, babe" she says

My jaw drops a little at her reluctance to give up important information.
