《Nothing Lasts Forever》17. Day Off

Gigi decided to give us the rest of the day off to refrain from someone actually getting hit in the head with one of those stage lights.

The minute I entered my trailer I received a call from Nicole who somehow caught wind of this debacle.

She called to tell me that she scheduled a photoshoot and an interview that I have to be at in an hour.

I am still trying to figure out how the woman caught wind of this.

I adjust my black sweatpants and hoodie before slipping on and tying my converse.

Once my shoes are tied I pull my hair up into a slick ponytail, not liking the feeling of said hair touching my neck.

I make sure that I have all of my personal items before opening my trailer door and exiting said trailer.

"Oh" I say as I accidentally bump into Hunter due to me not paying any attention

"I am sorry, I wasn't paying attention" I honestly tell her

The raven haired girl shrugs her shoulders at my apology.

"It's fine," she says

I nod my head.

She surprises me by walking alongside me, the both of us making our way towards the large gate.

"So...what are you going to do today?" She awkwardly starts up a conversation

I furrow my eyebrows at her.

"Uhm- work?" I reply but it comes out more as a question

The actress hums at this.

"So, just work?" She asks

I nod my head.

"Just work," I nod

"Unless I go to the mall" I feel the need to add

Why am I telling her this?

The actress hums again.

"So you're not just working today" she states

I shake my head.

"I guess not"

There is a silence between the two of us as we wait for the guard to open the gate, exiting said gate once it is open.

"Do you mind if I go with you?" The actress suddenly suggests

I pause in my spot at her suggestion.

I am pretty sure the shock is clear on my face.

"Is this a joke? Are you joking with me?" I cannot help but ask

The raven haired girl stops as well, turning to face me.

"If I were joking with you don't you think I would've already done something?"

I cross my arms at her.

"You could be waiting for me to let my guard down so that I will be clueless to your antics"

She hums at this, indirectly agreeing with me.

"I promise that I'm not doing anything to 'prank', 'trick' or 'fool' you" she tells me

I give her a singular head nod.

I get the feeling that she is telling the truth.

"Okay,"

"Do you need a ride or..." I ask when I notice that my car is the only one left in the parking lot

Hunter smiles guiltily at me.

"Please" she accepts

I use my head to motion for her to follow me, making my way towards my car.

-

I pull up at a red light just as multiple cars around us do the same.

Hmm. It is very crowded today.

I hope that will not be a problem today.

I go to fix my ponytail only for Hunter to catch my attention.

"Looks like we have some fans" I hear the amusement in her voice

I turn to face the actress only to notice her pointing towards a car near my window.

I turn in the direction that she is pointing only to notice two teenage girls, one in the driver's seat and the other in the passenger seat.

The second I turn to face them I notice the one in the passenger seat scream.

A soft laugh exits my mouth as the scream alerts the one in the driver's seat, the driver's eyes going wide when she recognizes me.

I glance over to the girl in the passenger seat and notice that she now has a cellphone in her hands, her back camera pointed at Hunter and I.

This persuades me to wave at them, wanting to be nice.

I would have rolled my window down and talked to them but the traffic light turned from red to green.

I give the girls a 'goodbye' wave before making a right hand turn, turning into the mall parking lot.

"They were so nice" I cannot help but smile

I feel Hunter's eyes on the side of my face but I do not turn to face her, focusing on said parking lot.

It takes a few moments but I eventually find a parking space, pulling into it.

Hunter waits until I turn off my car to exit it.

She surprises me by waiting towards the front of my car for me to get out.

Wow! That is actually...nice...of her?

I quickly grab my credit cards before exiting said car, using my keys to lock it.

I jog a bit to meet her, the two of us soon walking in sync towards the large building.

Unfortunately, Hunter and I barely get halfway there before a few paparazzi run up to us with huge cameras.

Immediately feeling uncomfortable with the unwanted company I bring one of my hands up to block my face as best as I can from the bright flashes.

I assume that Hunter notices this judging by the way that she grabs ahold of my wrist and pulls me closer towards her.

I opt for grabbing ahold of her bicep so that I can completely cover my eyes without the fear of bumping head first into something.

"McKenna King and Delaney Carson's longtime feud over?!" One reporter says

He seems to be filming instead of taking photos.

"McKenna! Delaney! Sources say that the two of you are friends now. Care to comment?!" Another yells

Hunter uses her other hand to push a reporter out of our way.

My nails dig a bit into the side of her muscular bicep.

"McKenna I thought that you hated Delaney?! Do you forgive her for what she said?!"

What I said?

What did I say?

At this point I feel like they are just making things up!

"Are the two of you dating?!"

"How is the movie going?!"

"Give Delaney a kiss McKenna!"

Ew! Do these old men have nothing else to do this afternoon?!

It does not get any better as McKenna and I enter the building.

Not only do theses men continue to follow us, a bunch of onlookers begin to film all of this from the side lines.

Eventually a security guard breaks through the paparazzi, dragging us towards an empty department store.

As soon as Hunter and I are safely inside of said department store the security guard blocks said paparazzi from entering the same store.

"I am sorry," I apologize

"I did not think that it would be this busy today" I tell the actress

I release my grip from her arm, feeling weird about our sudden closeness.

"It's fine," she assures me

"We should've expected it though" she admits

I nod my head in agreement.

As a silence falls upon us a question that has been bugging me since we entered the building makes its way past my lips.

"What did he mean by 'do you forgive her for what she said'?" I ask

The actress tightens her jaw at my question.

This only raises more questions in my head.

"What did I say Hunter?" I ask again

The actress quickly turns to face me, an annoyed look on her face.

"I told you not to call me that" she grits out

I go to ask her 'why not' only to be interrupted by a store employee making her way towards us.

"Welcome! How may I help you today?"

Unfortunately Hunter and I did not get very far.

We were locked inside of that shoe store for thirty minutes until the security guards got off of their lunch break.

While waiting for them I tried to start multiple conversations with Hunter but to no avail.

She completely blocked me out, again.

Just as I think we are taking one step forward we take three steps back.
