《Nothing Lasts Forever》13. The First Week

I make my way over towards Genevieve, who is now sitting on her bed.
"Can you turn off the lamp before you lay down?" She asks
"Sure" I say, making my way over towards said lamp
I do as she says, twisting the knob under the lampshade until her bedroom is painted black by the night sky, the subtle moonlight being our own source of light.
Genny holds the blanket open for me, allowing me to effortlessly slip under the warm fabric.
I adjust myself under the blanket before turning on my side and resting my head against cold pillow.
The corners of my lips turn upwards at the sight of her coffee brown eyes.
Our faces are rather close considering the limited space on this bed.
The two of us just stay like this for a moment, relishing in the calming repetition of the chirping crickets outside.
Our silent breaths gently fanning against each other's cheeks.
My breath hitches as I suddenly feel the tips of her fingers gently trail up my bare arm.
The raven haired girl's fingertips leave a trail of goosebumps in their wake as they continue to ghost up my arm.
I practically hold my breath as her fingertips stop at my shoulder before moving towards my face.
I release a soft gasp as she gently taps the tip of my nose.
The raven haired girl smiles at my reaction, soon bringing her pointer finger up to carefully tuck a few loose strands of my brunette hair behind my ear.
I scrunch my nose up at this due to it still tingling from her touch.
My face slowly relaxes as she rests her hand on my cheek.
The pad of her thumb gently runs along my cheekbone.
"You're beautiful," she suddenly whispers
My heart stops at this compliment.
She sounds like she actually means it.
No. This is Hunter we are talking about.
My bottom lip quivers as I try to figure out what to say next.
This goes on for a few moments which does not go unnoticed by her.
She moves her face an inch closer towards mine.
The two of us are so close to each other that I feel her slow exhales brush against my lips.
"What's going through your head?" She asks me with a softer tone of voice
I pretend to panic internally due to the script saying something along the lines of my character panicking.
"Lainey?" She whispers again, her eyes hooded
"Do you really have a dick?" I rush out without thinking
I hear a few people try their best to stifle their laugh.

What really breaks me is when someone snorts from trying not to break out into laughter.
I instantly break out of character as I burst into laughter as well.
Unfortunately this only urges everyone else who had been holding in their laughter to also being laughing.
"Cut! Everyone take five!" Gigi calls out
I ignore the bell that goes off a few seconds later as I begin to get up from the bed.
Wesley makes his way into the partial bedroom set as soon as the lights are turned back on.
"'Do you really have a dick?'" Wesley mocks me
"Why did you deliver that line like that?" He chuckles
I roll my eyes as I accept the robe that he is holding out for me.
What I have quickly come to learn is that this set is always freezing and it does not help that we have to be here by five in the morning.
"It said to deliver it awkwardly" I shrug as I continue to laugh
"Yeah...awkwardly, not monotonously" he states
I ignore him as I stand up from the bed.
Just as I go to tie said robe closed I am pushed away from the bed.
Thankfully Wesley catches me before I accidentally land face first on the wooden night table.
Hunter walks past me which only causes me to become furious.
"What the hell McKenna?!" I call out
The raven haired girl groans out with annoyance before turning to face me.
"What are you bitching about now?!" She groans out
I do not miss the annoyance clearly written across her facial features.
"Why did you push me?!" I question back
The raven haired girl crosses her arms across her chest.
"You were in my way" she answers with the calmest tone I have heard her talk in out of character so far
I just blink at her, completely gobsmacked.
"You have serious issues, you know that?" I tell her
This angers her.
Her eyebrows furrow and she makes her way closer to me.
"Excuse me?!"
I raise an eyebrow at the actress.
"You heard me," I do not back down
"You could have easily asked me to move out the way, or better yet go around me. Instead you chose to push me out of the way."
She rolls her eyes at me.
"So what?! I pushed you. Deal with it!" She states
I am taken aback when she takes another step forward, our noses almost touching.
I am taken further aback when her eyes glance down at my lips.

"A word of advice Delaney, if you want to survive in this industry you don't make yourself a difficult person to work with,"
She glances back up to meet my eyes.
"That's how you get blacklisted" she says before turning on her heel and walking away from me
What?!
Every time I talk to her I swear I become more confused.
"What is her problem with me?!" I groan out
I plop down on the bed as I try to figure out the answer.
So what I spit milk in her face?! That was thirteen years ago!
Plus did she not get her revenge when she poured hers on my head?!
"I mean...you did kind of spit milk in her face" Wesley awkwardly trails off
I glance over at him.
"Technically it wasn't real milk," I say
Wesley makes a disgusted facial expression at this.
"And that was over a decade ago!" I exclaim
There is an immediate silence between us.
"I can talk to her?" Wesley suggests
I glance in his direction again.
He seems to be serious.
"No, it's fine," I assure him as I stand up from the bed
"I will figure something out"
Honestly I just want the two of us to stop fighting all the time.
My head and throat hurt from all of the yelling we have been doing this week.
-
I wave goodbye to Wesley as I make my way back to my trailer to get changed out of this costume and back into the tracksuit that I came here in.
As I open my trailer door a scream of terror leaves my throat at the sight of a large silhouette standing in the middle of the room.
The person quickly turns around at this.
My screaming ceases as soon as I recognize that it is just Nicole.
"Oh, it's just you." I say as I enter the trailer, closing the door behind me
The tall woman rolls her eyes at me.
"I'm here to inform you of the set list" she tells me
Oh that is right! The mini tour she has scheduled is in two weeks.
"Nicole, can we please do this tomorrow?" I question, not in the mood to do this after being yelled at all day
The lady silently shakes her head.
I sigh as I make my way towards the miniature booth in this trailer, the woman following me.
As soon as she takes a seat opposite of me she passes me a folder.
I waste no time as I open said folder, wanting to get out of here as soon as possible.
I immediately nod my head at the song order.
I am only performing five songs, two of which being the ones that she is making me write within these three weeks.
"Each show on the mini tour is going to to be thirty minutes with no opening act," she tells me as I look over the information in the folder
"There isn't going to be any meet and greets just yet as I want to save those for the tour in three months,"
"There is however going to be a limited stock of merchandise that they can buy at the locations"
I furrow my eyebrows at this information.
"So these are basically just pop up events?" I question
"More or less."
I silently nod my head at her before standing up from my chair.
"Anything else you need to tell me?" I ask but it comes out a little ruder than intended
Nicole closes the folder seeing as I am most likely not going to look at it again.
"You have a photoshoot tomorrow morning before you come here as well as a sound check at the first concert location in two weeks"
As soon as Nicole is finished talking she stands up, getting ready to exit the trailer.
I stop her before she can do so.
"Nicole, I have to be on set by five in the morning. What do you mean by 'you have a photoshoot tomorrow morning'?" I stress
The woman rolls her eyes at my question, obviously not seeing a problem.
"The photoshoot is at five," she states
My eyes widen at this information.
"If you're not there by the time the clock hits five it will not be pretty" she says before making her way towards the door
"Nicole!" I call after her
The woman exits my trailer urging me to follow her.
"Nicole!" I call again
I groan out with frustration as I receive no response.
She is impossible!
I bring my hands up to cover my face, not caring about the makeup that I am most likely smearing.
I take a few seconds to calm myself down before making my way back inside my trailer.
As I turn on the metal stairs to make my way back inside of my trailer I catch sight of something moving a few trailers away from mine.
Upon taking a closer look I realize that it is...Hunter.
She appears to be smoking something.
Weed maybe?
I ignore this and make my way into my trailer, shutting the door behind my body.
What am I going to do tomorrow morning?
