《Nothing Lasts Forever》3. Photoshoot

I exit the bathroom and make my way towards my closet.

As I enter through the door way I flip the switch up, illuminating the abnormally large room.

A smile immediately makes its way onto my face at the sight of its contents.

Most of my wardrobe has came from sponsorships and collaborations meaning that about ninety percent of the clothes in my closet I did not pay for.

While I am incredibly grateful for all of these clothes I am thinking about donating most of them.

I have not and most likely will not wear any of them because...well I just hate the way I look in them.

The way the fat of my stomach will cause the material of my shirts or dresses to poke out.

Or the way my inner thigh fat will be on complete display if I decide to wear a simple pair of shorts.

It is all absolutely unflattering on me.

I make my way over towards my hung hoodies and grab a random black hoodie that has no logos or anything on it, immediately making the unconscious decision to pick out a matching pair of black sweatpants.

Once I have my outfit picked out I slip the oversized hoodie over my head, letting the edge of it fall to my mid thigh area.

I quickly retrieve a pair of white panties and slip them up my legs to cover my private regions. It takes practically no time at all for me to slip my oversized black sweatpants on to cover said panties.

Not only does this hide my body, it is also extremely easy to change out of once I get to the photoshoot.

It is a win-win situation!

I make my way over towards a random shelf that I placed my cellphone down on.

As soon as I reach said shelf I grab my phone, bringing the screen up to my face so that I can see it.

Nine thirty in the morning, the time read.

I should hurry up considering the photoshoot is scheduled for ten in the morning and I have no clue where it is.

I should probably text Nicole for that information.

-

"Hi! Sorry for the delay!" I rush out as I enter the brightly lit studio where the photoshoot will be taking place

A really tall man turns around to face me at the sound of my nervous voice.

He appears to be somewhere around the six foot tall range.

As he turns to face me my eyes instinctively glance down at the large camera in his hands.

He must be the photographer that they hired.

A minuscule wave of sadness crashes down upon me at the sight of someone other than Bea.

As soon as his eyes land on me a wide smile breaks out onto his well sculpted face.

"You're fine," he assures me with an amused chuckle

My shoulders instantly relax at the sound of his tone.

Thank goodness he is not one of those easily angered photographers who get annoyed by you simply just asking where the bathroom is.

"Your dressing room is over there" he brings one of his hands up to point towards a closed red door

I nod my head.

"Thank you so much" I give him an appreciative smile before making my way towards said door hidden room

Who knows.

Maybe this photographer will seriously surprise me.

I continue to make my way towards the bright red door, placing my hand on the doorknob and twisting it once I reach said door.

Nothing could have prepared me for what sight lay behind this door.

One enthusiastic hairstylist singing along with a song coming from the speaker in the corner, a random hairbrush in his hand.

Two seemingly stressed make up artists digging through their piles of makeup.

And last but not least a bored Nicole sitting beside a random curtain in a plastic blue chair.

She was here the entire time?!

At the sound of the door swinging closed behind me everyone pauses, turning around to face me.

My breathing speeds up at the sight of everyone's eyes on me.

"H-Hi" I nervously breathe out

I bring one of my hands up to give them all a small wave.

They all continue to look at me for a second more, their eyes trailing my body, before going back to what they were originally doing.

Well, besides the hairdresser.

He just went back to his station.

"You're late" Nicole says with a bored tone of voice

I turn to face her, unconsciously making my way towards the curtain beside her.

"Is my costume in here?" I ask her, not wanting to argue with her in front of all of these professionals

"Mhm" she hums, her thumbs flying across her cellphone's keyboard

I roll my eyes at her.

A sigh leaving my lips as I enter through the curtains.

Fine, if she wants to be immature about this then that is fine with me.

I have been acting like more of an adult than her for about three years now.

As I enter the makeshift changing room my eyes land on multiple different aspects for my costume.

Oh my goodness...

This is going to take some strength.

Oh who am I kidding?

This is going to take a lot of strength.

-

I think that I finally have this outfit figured out.

"Is this how I wear it?" I ask as I exit the makeshift dressing room

You know, just to be safe.

One of the makeup artists turn to face me at this question.

Her eyes slowly trail down my body.

She makes sure to take in every dip, crevice, and flow of the dress.

"Yeah," she eventually replies

"Come sit in the chair" she motions towards a directors chair

I nod my head and do as she says, making my way towards said chair.

The first dress that they have me wearing for today is a really loose, flowing dress.

The dress resembles that of a men's button up shirt.

The sleeves pool around my hands due to the neckline being designed to be worn off the shoulder.

The dress as a whole is pretty short, but thankfully it covers what it should.

With this dress they had me wear a floral corset since it goes with the movie's timeline.

Or at least I am assuming that it does.

Nonetheless the dress is beautiful, but I do feel a little too exposed in it.

I slowly climbing up onto the directors chair.

I do this so that my dress does not rise up.

I would hate to accidentally flash someone after only being here for half an hour.

Once I am completely in the seat I cross one of my legs over the other one as I am freezing my ass off at this point.

Before the makeup artists get the chance to touch my face I notice a piece of paper in the corner of one of their mirrors.

The paper read, 'natural makeup, loose curls'.

I hope that is what they will be doing today.

-

The time flew past in a blur.

One second I had multiple makeup brushes touching my face and two hands in my hair, the next second I am staring at myself in the mirror.

Ah! So they did choose to go in the more natural direction.

The ladies covered my bags and any other discoloration on my face with concealer.

They applied blush to my cheeks, highlighter to my nose, a berry colored lip tint to my lips and mascara to my eyelashes.

I could have sworn I felt an eyeliner pencil near my eye at one point, but it is so natural that I can barely tell.

As for my hair the man who was in charge of it brushed all of my hair out, heatlessly getting it as straight as possible.

Once my hair was to his desire he produced a large curling iron and began curling my brunette hair in pretty large chunks, following it with a little more hairspray than I am comfortable with.

In other words, I am going to have trouble getting all of this hairspray out of my hair tonight.

"She's ready!" Nicole yells out to the photographer

I assume to alert him that his preparation time is up.

I hurry out of the chair, not wanting to hold up everyone any longer.

As I make my way towards Nicole I furrow my eyebrows.

"Why am I the only one here? I thought that I had a costar?" I quietly voice my confusion

The two of us make our way out of the small room and towards the large white backdrop that now has three bright lights shining at it.

The thing practically looks like it is glowing.

"You do, she's scheduled to arrive after you leave" Nicole states

My confusion only worsens at Nicole's statement.

What sense does that make?!

"Why can't she and I just take our photos together? Not only would we be done sooner, but the crew too" the two of us stop a few feet from the backdrop

I turn to face Nicole only to catch her rolling her eyes at my suggestion.

"Delaney, it's just...better this way" She tries to carefully word her sentence

Why is she being so ominous?

My confused facial expression does not falter in the slightest.

"What does that even mean?" I question

As these words leave my mouth something flickers in my brain.

"Do you know who my costar is?" I ask

Nicole's demeanor changes at this question.

Her body becomes tense and she stares wide eyed at the backdrop in front of herself.

She knows.

Just as quickly as this happens it is hidden, her body relaxes and her face reflects that of a bored facial expression.

"If you know who my costar is you need to tell me" I tell her with a serious tone of voice

Nicole's bored expression easily morphs into that of pure annoyance.

"Listen here you little brat," she hisses out as she quickly turns to face me

I do not react at her sudden emotion change.

This is not the first time she has called me a 'brat'.

And I seriously doubt that it will be the last.

"I'm doing this specifically to protect you, so you should be grateful," Nicole continues

Me? Ungrateful?

I try my best to be kind to everyone!

No matter who or what.

"Filming for this godforsaken movie begins in a month," she informs me

Finally!

She keeps ignoring all of my text messages whenever I ask her!

I would understand if she did not know.

However, I signed the contract for this movie four weeks ago, meaning that Nicole received an email around then from the director.

An email containing all of the information for the movie, as in the location address, the filming schedule, when filming begins, and others.

"If you really want to see your costar so bad then you'll see her in a month when you two are on set" Nicole finishes

My brain sort of stutters for a moment at the word that leaves Nicole's mouth.

Her?

My costar is a girl?

I really need to read that script tonight!

"Sorry for the hold up, I'm ready for you Delaney" the photographer interrupts with a nice smile

I push all of my questions and confusion to the back of my head.

Work mode.

I have a job to do here today.

I smile back at him and make my way onto the large white back drop.

I hope that my dress does not blend in with this.

That would be a highly stressful situation.
