《Nothing Lasts Forever》2. The Movie Deal

I adjust my necklace before climbing out of the black SUV.
I am currently adorned in a cropped, white tee that is covered by a chocolate brown sweater vest. My pants have a brown and white flannel design on them. They're not too baggy, but not too tight either. As for shoes I just chose to wear a random white pair.
Since I woke up too late to go to my stylist I made the quick decision to take two chunks from the front of both sides of my head and pin them towards the back using a clip.
As soon as my foot touches the hard surface of the cemented sidewalk a bright white flash goes off.
Do paparazzi ever sleep?!
It is ten twenty five in the morning and they are choosing to loiter outside of a talent agency with heavy cameras.
Once I am fully out of the car my bodyguard closes it behind me before ushering me towards the glass door of said agency.
The bright white flashes of the cameras begin to pick up speed as soon as my bodyguard closes the car door behind my body.
Screams and shouts fly left and right the closer we get towards the door.
I have gotten so used to the screaming and shouting that I am able to just block them out at this point.
I am practically a zombie as I keep my eyes straight in front of me, my chin parallel to the ground.
It does not takes us more than thirty seconds to reach the large building.
My bodyguard gently rests his hand on the middle of my back as we approach the glass door.
"Thank you so much" I politely thank him
He does not react to this, opening the glass door and allowing me to walk through.
As soon as I enter the building a cold gust of air hits my body, surprising me.
Okay.
I guess they decided to turn the air on full blast today.
It takes me no time at all to reach the shiny, silver elevator.
I quickly retrieve my issued identification card and slide it over the red lit scanner. I patiently wait until the light turns from red to green to remove my identification card.
I place said card back inside of my purse just as the elevator doors effortlessly ease open.

I waste no time, climbing onto the conveyor belt and pressing the button labeled 'thirteen'.
Thirteenth floor, here I come.
-
"Good Morning, Ms. Park" a lady kindly greets me as I step out of the elevator
She appear to be an elderly woman with soft looking, marshmallow white hair.
The woman has her hair pulled all the way up into a tight neat bun.
If I am being honest, the hairstyle looks really painful.
She has on a white long sleeve shirt which she paired with a stormy grey skirt that stops a little below her knees.
It is casual, but still 'office appropriate'.
I give her a kind smile in return.
"Hi," I greet her back
"Do you know which office Nicole wants to meet me in?" I ask her with genuine confusion
More often than not Nicole and I will meet in her office if it is just the two of us.
This allows other celebrities or staff that work here to use the large meeting room if they have a whole group of people.
She uses her hand to motion towards the currently empty, glass wall surrounded meeting room.
"Room three" she answers
Oh.
I wonder who else is going to be joining us today.
"Thank you" I smile before making my way towards said room
Once I reach the room I make my way towards the large glass table.
I slide a rolling desk chair away from the table only to immediately take a seat in it and pull out my cellphone, deciding to use this time to go through some of my unanswered emails.
It does not take long for someone to enter the meeting room after I do.
About fifteen minutes after I enter the room I hear a pair of stilettos enter the same room.
"What are you doing?! They'll be here any minute!" I hear Nicole's stressed voice not so secretively whispers
I silence my cellphone and slip it into one of my back pockets before standing up from my chair to face the older woman.
"Who is 'they'?" I ask since she has not told me much about this meeting
All I am aware of was the time that I had to be here.
That's it.
Nicole makes her way over to the chair beside me which just so happens to be the chair at the end of the large table.

"The casting woman, the director, other people working on the movie" she waves her hand distractedly
It takes all of my strength to hold my jaw up at this major bomb that she dropped.
"Movie?!" I quietly exclaim
I do not want to cause a ruckus to those who are working here.
This is a business after all.
Nicole glances up at me, seemingly going to sag something.
She does not get the chance to when there is a small knock on the door.
Nicole's eyes flicker over towards said door and her body immediately freeze in shock.
That must be the crew from the movie.
Nicole's shock only lasts for a mere second before realization kicks in and she fixes her posture, straightening her back and pushing her shoulders back.
"Elle, Jason, welcome," Nicole puts on a pseudo nice act
Nicole uses one of her hands to motion towards the large glass table, insinuating that they should take a seat.
"I think it's best if we get started immediately, my talent is booked solid today" my manager says as the crew of about five people make their way towards the table
I thought that this was the only thing that I was supposed to be doing today.
I guess that I was wrong.
-
"Legally we are not allowed to discuss the script or characters is said script with you, but both Elle and I thought that Delaney here would be perfect for one of the lead roles," Jason uses his hands as he speaks
Me?
"She's graceful, she has an exceptionally excellent vocabulary, and she fits the character's description perfectly" He compliments me
I give him a small smile at this compliment.
If I am being honest I am not the biggest fan of myself.
If I were to say this out loud then I would be misunderstood and ridiculed by everyone.
Well, maybe not everyone.
Nicole nods her head with the fakest smile I have ever come across.
"How much will she be getting paid?" Nicole immediately asks
Seriously Nicole?
There were so many nicer ways that she could have approached them with the inevitable question.
Elle just smiles sweetly at the woman.
"Delaney will be making somewhere from fifty dollars to a hundred dollars hourly" Elle politely answers Nicole's question
My eyebrows raise up my forehead with pure shock.
Oh my- Wow!
That is a lot of money.
Nicole nods her head with a satisfied smirk on her face.
"Then I guess we have a deal" she continues to smirk
Elle giddily claps her hands at this.
"Wonderful!" She opens a vanilla envelope
She pushes the opened envelope in front of me along with a black ballpoint pen.
"We just need you to sign on the dotted line" Jason cuts in
I nod my head and grab said pen, using it to neatly sign my signature on the dotted line.
Once I am finished with this I push the pen and envelope back towards Elle.
"Great! We'll email you all of the details and mail you her script as soon as possible" Elle says as they begin to pack up their things and stand up from their chairs
Nicole and I follow suit, standing up from our seats and grabbing our personal belongings.
"Great! We'll keep in touch" Nicole smiles as they begin to exit the large glass meeting room
Before Elle exits the room along with the rest of the crew she turns to face me with a bright smile on her face.
"I t was nice to meet you Delaney" she says before completely exiting the room
I smile at her compliment.
She actually sounded completely genuine.
Unfortunately there is no way of telling if she was being serious or not.
Looks can be quite deceiving.
"Now that they're gone," a bored Nicole trails off
I turn to face the woman only to notice that she is scrolling through her cellphone.
"You have an hour and a half before your next meeting regarding a shoe collaboration," she informs me
Oh wow!
Another one?
I wonder why so many clothing brands have wanted to work with me this year so far.
"I suggest that you either stay here or go to lunch," she adds
"I call you in an hour to pick you up" is the last thing she says before strutting past me and making her way out of the room
Okay, today is going to be one of those days.
Cool.

The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
