Morning comes and smells of pancakes. I glance over to the left and see a stack on the table and Cody and Lynn are eating together. Amelia is on the middle pull out couch still sleeping and Jenna is on the one across from Gerard and I. Gerard's still sleeping, his face buried under the pillows and his arms slung around me. The blankets with the combination of our body heat make it really cozy and unmotivating to get up. But I'm also really hungry.

Slowly, I inch out of bed. Gerard shifts to where I was, wrapping his arms around my pillow and hugging it close to him. Cody and Jenna glance over at me and wave. "Hey," he says in a low voice as I take a seat.

"Hi." I rubbing my eyes, starting to yawn. "What time is it?" I ask.

"Like 8:30," Lynn says.

I glance up at her. "And you're up?"

The two of them smirk at each other. "Um, yeah, well, you are, too," Cody points out with a grin.

"Obviously, but I fell asleep earlier. Like we came in after 2 am and then I just passed out. You guys were the ones who wanted to watch Shrek."

"Hey, Shrek is a classic," Cody says.

"I take it you went to bed after?" I grab a few pancakes and slowly drizzle syrup on them.

"Well, we finished Shrek," Lynn says. "But everyone else was asleep beside me and Cody. So then we watched Shrek 2."

I stop pouring and glance up at them. "And Shrek 3," Cody mutters before taking a bite of his pancakes.

I set the maple syrup down and glance between the two of them. "You guys didn't sleep, did you?" I ask.

"Nope."

"Absolutely not."

"So that's the reason you're up this early," I sigh. They both nod. "You guys are going to die when you go skiing."

"We don't have to. We can muck around in the snow," Lynn says, curling her knee up on the chair.

"Oh! We can sled! That's not as needing attentiveness," Cody suggests.

"Yes, I love it!"

"You guys," I mutter, shaking my head.

"Oh, please, it's not like you haven't pulled all-nighters before," Lynn says.

Cody gets up with his plate and stacks his dishes. "Okay, I'm done. Be right back," he says, heading over to the kitchen.

Lynn and I continue eating as he walks away. "Were we the first ones to fall asleep?" I ask.

She shakes her head. "Nah, Amelia was actually. Then I think you and Gerard. Jenna finished the first Shrek with us but she was done after that." I roll my eyes at her while laughing. "Yeah, so, weird question then?" I glance up at her, raising my eyebrows while chewing. "Like Jenna and I were together since we're dating and same with Cody and Melia...you and Gerard?" I freeze up and set my fork down. Lynn looks at me with a grin but I sit back. "I mean, I get that like it's how things paired up but...you know."

I swallow thickly, trying to clear my throat. "I mean, um, like, we're just the odd ones out." She looks at me nodding. "Yeah, and we're also like..."

"Best friends?" Lynn suggests.

"I mean...yeah, but..."

"But what?"

But best friends don't do the things Gerard and I do. They don't cuddle or flirt. I mean, some do but nowhere near the amount or...extents Gerard and I go through. And. Best friends do not kiss. Lynn looks at me, still waiting for an answer. "I don't know," I mutter. "Gerard and I...we're like. See, Jenna's like my best friend I feel. Gerard's different."

"How so?" she asks. I sit in my chair feeling smaller than I usually do. She rests her chin on her hand, looking at me with an innocent smile.

"Do you...know something?"

"Me? What's there to know?" she asks.

I chew on the inside of my lip. "You're acting..."

"Weird? You've been telling me that a lot lately."

"Well, you are weird. But why are you asking?"

"Just something I noticed. When Cody and I were watching TV, we saw you guys were all tangled up." I know my cheeks are blushing since she starts smiling at me. "You guys cuddling?" she teases.

"That was an accident, we were sleeping," I mutter. "And it's nothing like that."

She nods along as Jenna bolts up from sleeping. The two of us glances over at her as she starts moving her hair out of her face. "I thought I smelled food," she says, flopping back down.

"You getting some, dear?" Lynn asks.

Jenna waves her hand above herself. "Yeah, yeah, just give me a moment."

Within the next hour, the others eventually wake up and finish eating. Lynn, Cody, and I are watching Vine compilations on the TV while waiting for the others. Amelia, Jenna, and Gerard all want to go skiing. I want to go with them but I've learned that I really can't ski. At least, not as good as they can.

"Hey," Lynn says. "You think Cody and I could take a pass on that today," Lynn says. Cody and her exchange glances with sheepish grins. "We'll go sledding instead."

"Yeah, that's cool," Amelia says, adjusting the laces on her boots.

"Basically, they're way too tired to be able to stand up while going down a hill so they'd rather sit," Gerard says with a smirk.

"Oops," Cody says. "But tomorrow morning, we'll go."

"Alright then," Amelia says before turning to me. "Frank, you coming with us?"

I pause for a minute, glancing and them. "I think I'll go sledding today, too. Skiing and I don't work."

"You went skiing at the field trip thing," Gerard points out.

"Yeah, I know, I know, but I was struggling and it took all my energy out of me."

"But you were getting better. And you weren't that bad befo-"

"I sucked then and I probably still suck now," I say with a laugh. "Like Lynn said, we'll all go tomorrow."

"I didn't say that, Cody did," Lynn says.

"Oh, same difference."

We head out, the other three going to get their skis while Cody, Lynn, and I march through the snow to get sleds. "Hey, guys, remember that movie Cool Running?" Cody says, jumping around to face us as he walks backward.

"Oh my god, yes!" Lynn says.

"I don't know that one."

Cody glances at me dumbfounded. "What? Gerard has failed you. How have you not seen that?" I give him a shrug. "Well, then. But it's basically about the first Jamaican bobsled team and it's really fun."

After we grab a three-person sled, Cody quickly explains the synopsis of the movie to me while we hike up the snowy hill. At the top, Lynn gets in the front and I sit behind her. Cody isn't in behind me. Instead, he's at the back of the sled, getting ready to push us down the hill. "Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme!" Lynn cries out.

"Let's get on out! It's pushcart time!" Cody finishes, breaking into a sprint and pushing us toward the hill. My stomach gives a jump as it hits me how large this freaking hill is. "Cool running!" Cody screams, hopping in the back of the sled as we go down the hill.

I grab onto Lynn's waist tightly and Cody's holding my shoulders as we start speeding down the hill. "We're tipping!" I scream, our weight leaning to the side. I feel Cody try to overcompensate for it by whipping himself to the other side but it just flips us all over. Lynn and I roll out and Cody flies behind us. The momentum keeps us rolling down the hill, snow falling inside my hood and down my jacket. "Oh my god!" I cry out, unable to breathe from laughing so hard.

Lynn sits up, her dark hair covered in white snow. "Cody!" she laughs, wiping off the snow from her hair. "You fool, you absolute buffoon!"

"Guys! The sled is getting away!" Cody screams, running down the hill after it. Lynn and I just look at each other and continue laughing.

Fortunately, the rest of our rides down don't end up in such a wreck. After several runs down, we get individual ones and start racing each other. Cody seems to be struggling with coordination without sleep because there is 4 incident when after taking a running start with his sled, he tries hopping in but misses. So he and the sled would go down the hill. Separately. Granted, Lynn's no better because twice, while hiking up the hill, she's dropped her sled so then she's had to run down the side of the hill and chase after it and then walk all the way back up. But at least she doesn't miss or drop it when actually going down.

There's a small snowy ramp that was built at the bottom that someone built to go up on when sliding down. It's only like half a foot tall so I figure it couldn't be that much of a deal. However, physics is a bitch. I'm the first one to go down it because I thought it would just be like a little bump up at the end. Momentum and speed and something about parabolas, I go down whizzing by and somehow manage to angle myself to get it dead center. I go launching into the air and for a second, I don't know if I'm coming back down. The sled is completely gone and I fall into the snow with a heavy thud. Miraculously, I don't feel any pain when I hit the ground but then I worry it's because I'm paralyzed. Slowly, I get up and everything's working.

Cody and Lynn are at the top of the hill looking at me. "That was awesome!" I scream.

A few hours go by quicker than I thought when I check my phone and see it's 2 p.m. At this point, I'm sure Cody and Lynn are going completely pass out once they sit down and their adrenaline high wears off.

"We should go back and get lunch or something," Cody says. "If you guys are hungry. I mean, I'm not."

"Yeah, me neither," I say.

"I'm not either but we could still go back, see what the others are up to," Lynn says.

We make it back to Amelia's place but see the others outside in the patio area. We walk around and see Gerard, Amelia, and Jenna rolling up snow. "Hey, guys!" Cody calls out.

They all look back at us. "Hey," Jenna calls out. "Do you want to build a snowman?" she sings.

"Come on, let's go and play!" Lynn says, skipping over to them.

"We're going to make this thing huge!" Amelia cries out, throwing her arms in the air above her head. "This is the base we're working on.

"Let's do it!" Cody says. He and I go over to it and start helping them roll the snow.

Ten minutes pass after we finally can't move the base anymore due to its overwhelming amount of weight. It comes up to my waist. Granted, that doesn't say much since I'm not impressively tall. Jenna sits down, starting to shave off the dirty parts of the snow and make it more round looking. Cody and I start making the middle section when snow explodes from the back of Gerard's head.

"Wh-hey!" he says, spinning around. Lynn stands a few feet away with a mischievous grin and turning another snowball in her hand.

"Oops," she says with a shrug, throwing the other one. Gerard tries ducking but it still hits in him the chest.

He stands up at narrows his eyes at her. "Okay, you're on." He starts sprinting at her, scooping up a handful of snow along the way.

"Oh no!" she squeals, scampering back.

"Jeez," Amelia mutters under her breath, starting to add her bundle of snow to ours. It's about the size of a cat when we start rolling it around. "Wait, stop," Amelia says after a minute.

"What?" Cody asks.

"We have to put this on top of the base."

Cody and I look at each other. "Yeah, so?" I ask.

"Well, we can't make it too big or heavy. Otherwise, we can't lift it up." A high pitch scream comes from behind us. "Jesus, Lynn!" Amelia calls out.

"That wasn't me!" she hollers, pelting Gerard with snow one after the other."

"I came out here to have a good time," Gerard tries covering his face but it's pointless, "and honestly I'm feeling so attacked right now!"

Cody shakes his head while laughing. "Okay, this is probably heavy enough. Ready?" The three of us all grab it from the bottom and lift. It's a lot heavier than I thought and we can barely get it off the ground.

"Go, go, go!" Amelia grunts, as we start lifting it up and sliding it on top of the base. Some of the snow chisels off from the bottom and falls on Jenna.

"Hey! I'm working here!" she says, dusting off her head and continues rounding off the base.

"I think I got a hernia," Cody muters under his breath.

"Oh, sorry, Jen-" I get hit in the back and stumble forward. I turn around and see Gerard and Lynn standing next to each other both looking guilty. I cross my arms and smirk at them. "Okay, which one of you threw that?"

"She did," Gerard blurts out.

"What? NO!" Lynn says, playfully shoving him. Gerard cracks a grin but he doesn't deny her.

"Gee?" I take a step toward them, picking up a clump of snow and balling it up.

"Peace, I'm out," Lynn says, flopping back in the snow and laying down to make a snow angel.

"What's up, Frankie?" he asks. I smile and start running toward him. "Oh god!" he cries out. I throw the snow at him but I can't sport. It completely misses, going far right. Even if it was in his direction, it was way too high. "Ha, missed-whoa!" He stumbles back and falls down. I grab more snow and start throwing at him. Being much closer, I hit him.

"That's what you get!" I laugh, picking up more snow and standing over him, ready to drop it over him.

"No!" He suddenly sweeps my legs and I fall over too. All the snow I was carrying slips as I hit the ground. Gerard tries sitting up but I grab his boot and pull him back while laughing.

He falls over again, desperately trying to crawl away. "Aback! Aback, you fiend!" he hisses, frantically tossing snow behind him but none of it comes close to hitting me. I can't stop laughing as he frantically scurries away but goes nowhere. There's no more snow around him as he starts scrapping up grass. "Ack!" he cries out.

"What are you going to do now?"

He glances at me, rips off his glove and chucks it at my face. I let go of him as a reflex when it hits me. "Freedom!" he cries, getting up to his feet. I grab his glove and stand up, backing away. He looks at me, narrowing his eyes. "Give it back."

"No," I say with a smirk.

"Frankie, don't make me say it." I look at him and he grins. "Hand it over."

I roll my eyes at him. "You and your puns," I mutter. Gerard stares at me with his bare hand still out. "Technically, you gave it to me." Gerard looks at me and I bolt.

"NO!" I know he's faster than me but I still try running. Gerard tackles me down but I put my arm behind me. He falls on top of me and I land on my arm with the glove underneath me. "Give it back." He pins me down to the ground.

"Nope!" I say, trying to escape from under him. Gerard pins down my other hand at the wrist and rips off my glove. Immediately, the cold hair his my hand. "How dare thy!"

"A fair trade," he says, getting closer to my face. I shake my head, thrashing my legs up to try getting him off. "Not that easy, Frankie." He starts straddling me just below my hips and holds me down tighter. I can barely move. "Come on, trade. A glove for a glove."

I try lifting him off me but he's weighing me down. "Hmm, what if I don't care if I got mine back?"

"Oh come on," he sighs while chuckling. He's leaning right over me. His cheeks are rosy red from the cold and running around. I get my hand free from him and try shoving him but he catches my wrist again, slamming it back on the ground harder. "Ah, ah, not that easy," he whispers. I sigh, pouting at him. "I told you, trade you."

"And I told you, I don't care about my glove," I say smugly, still squirming around.

Gerard pauses, leaning down next to me. "Well, what do you want?" he whispers in my ear. He sits back a bit and looks me in the eyes. I don't say anything, just staring up at him. He smiles, waiting for an answer. His eyes are really green right now, peeking through his bangs. I glance down at his lips for half a second and then look back up at his eyes. "Deal," he whispers.

I lift my head up and kiss him. His lips are cold and mine are numb. Our teeth tap against each and he loosens up, going more gentle. His gloveless hand holds the side of my face. His fingers are really hot and clammy against my windburned and cold cheek. He slowly pulls away and I look at him with a nervous smile. Neither of us says anything for a moment, just staring at each other. He's still holding my cheek in his hand, gently running his thumb back and forth.

With my free hand, I scoop up a handful of snow and dump it on his head. "Oof," he mutters, easing off of me. He starts dusting the snow out of his hair and I roll out of the way, tossing his glove at him. He takes it, shaking out some snow, and then puts it on. He's still holding mine

"My glove?" I ask.

Gerard glances up. "You wanted something else, remember?" I stare at him and he chuckles, tossing it toward me. He looks behind him and notices the others still building their snowman and not paying attention in our direction. "I think Lynn passed out.

Lynn's lying down, still in her snow angel but her eyes are closed. "She and Cody didn't sleep whatsoever," I say.

"I'm surprised she had this much energy left. And I'm surprised Cody's still going."

Gerard and I walk back to the others as they finish building their snowman. There aren't any rocks or sticks around so we leave him like that. They've managed to make it taller than me. Cody and Gerard stacked the last piece on top on their tiptoes then Amelia hopped on Cody's shoulders, smoothing it out.

"We did it, now let's eat please," Jenna says.

"I could go for Ramen," Amelia says.

"Hell yeah-where is Lynn?" Jenna asks.

Gerard gestures behind us. "She passed out." Jenna eyes widen. "No! Not like that, like she fell asleep."

"Oh, ha, okay." Gerard and Jenna go over to wake her up but she just brushes her away. Cody, Amelia, and I laugh watching Jenna failing to drag Lynn by her arm. Until Gerard finally scoops her up in his arms and carries her inside the house. The six of us strip off our winter gear and hang them up in the utility room to dry off. Amelia trips over her boots and Jenna catches her before she smacks her face into the floor. I'm really hot but my face is burning cold since it was the only thing exposed outside.
