《Give Me All Your Hopeless Hearts // Frerard》January 16th

A/N: Hey, guys! In honor of Gerard Way's birthday tomorrow, I'm updating today, which is the ski trip. So if you sent me in a character sheet, this is the part where they'd be presented. Between this chapter and the next few are when I'll be using them. Thanks so much if you sent me one, it was really fun incorporating you guys in here. I'm doing my best to portray them as to how you stated. Hope you all enjoy!
The group of us stand in the commons among the other juniors and seniors attending the trip. Lynn hangs out with us before class. "Literally, no one is in art," Lynn says. "Like I walked in there to drop my backpack off and all the stools were still up."
"I'm sure at least one person will be there," Cody says. "You won't be the only one."
"You'll probably get a lot done with us distracting you," Gerard says.
She pauses for a moment before agreeing with him. Warning bell rings and she says goodbye to us all before heading out.
Brendon heads over to us with his bag slung over his shoulder. "Hey, guys," he says.
"Oh, I completely forgot you were coming with," Jenna says. Brendon looks at her, narrowing his eyes but laughing it off. "Wait, so who isn't going?"
"Well, Lynn," Cody says, "and Patrick and Hayley."
"And Sarah," Amelia says.
Brendon shakes his head. "No, she's going."
Jenna and Amelia's eyes light up. "Awe, we should have asked her to room with us," Jenna says. "That would've been fun."
"Have you guys figured out who you're other two roommates are yet?" Cody asks.
"And they were roommates," Gerard whispers. There's a pause while he laughs at his own joke.
"Oh my god, they were roommates," Brendon says.
Jenna just stares at the two of them. "Yeah, I wonder how many times you guys will say that one," she says.
"But backtracking," I say, "who are you rooming with?"
"We should probably figure that out," Amelia says. "Come on." Amelia grabs Jenna's hand and drags her to the front.
"And then there were four," Cody says dramatically.
"So out of us, who here knows how to actually ski?" Brendon asks. Cody and Gerard raise their hands. I shake my head. Looking in my direction, Brendon smiles. "Well, you and I will probably be spending a lot of time together on the bunny trail."
"It can't be that hard," I say. "I mean, it'll take some practice but eventually we can get the hang of it, right?"
Brendon sways his head side to side. "Eh, not really. I mean, it might just be a me-thing but I've gone a few times with cousins and I don't know how to stand."
"While skiing or in general?" Gerard asks. Brendon wacks his arm.
"No, it's hard," Cody says. "I have gone a lot and there are times where I just can't even stand up."
"But you know how to ski?"
"Yeah, I know how to ski," Cody repeats, "but it's still difficult. At least, for me it is."
"Isn't Amelia some champion," Brendon asks.
Cody has a soft smile on his face. "Yeah, she's really good. She knows how to do tricks and stuff. Like she can flip in the air. I saw some videos her brother showed me."

"That's insane," Gerard says. "See, I have no trouble skiing but I prefer to keep myself on the snow at all times."
A staff member comes over to us. "Hi, are you all rooming?" she asks. We all nod. "Awesome, what's one of your names?"
"Cody Carson," he says.
"Okay, you're bus 2 and hall 4 with our school," she says, flipping through a packet. "Your chaperons are Mr. Finn and Ms. Wong."
Brendon, Cody, and Gerard all get really hyped. "Yo, we got Ms. Wong!" Gerard says, jumping up and patting on Brendon's shoulder. I don't know who Finn is but I know Ms. Wong is their English teacher and I heard everyone loves her.
"Hey, can I ask you about Jenna McDougall?" Cody asks.
The staff member flips to a different page, scanning down. "She's also with you guys, bus and hall."
Halfway through first period, they have someone going over all the rules an explanations. The typical be courteous, we are still under school rules. It takes much longer than it probably needs to be. The passing period comes and it's loud for the five minutes. Eventually, we finally are ready to start heading on the bus. They send out bus 1 and the remaining students wait for them to head out. It's better than waiting outside. Bus 2 gets ready when second period is almost over. Walking out of the school with our luggage dragging behind us as our bags over the shoulder, we head to the coach bus. The staff members load the luggage in the compartments outside. I never realized coach buses have little drawers on the outside for suitcases and such. On the bus, we stick our bags up in the compartments above us.
Cody and Brendon lead the way, sitting somewhere in the middle. They sit together and Gerard glances behind me. I give him a small shrug. He sits down in front of them and I sit next to Gerard.
"Do you guys know how long the ride is?" I ask.
"It's several hours," Brendon says. "Like it will be a while."
Several other students pass us to go sit in the back. I know a few of the students here, some I have a class with. But there are a lot of seniors with us, some familiar faces. Nobody, in particular, is someone I dislike so this weekend should be fun. Jenna and Amelia get on and we wave in their direction. There are two girls with them that look very identical, either sisters or best friends at the least. They're both the same height, just a little shorter than me. Amelia comes over to us and sits in Cody's row. The other to girls sit in the row next to Gerard and me.
"Hey, you were gone a while," Gerard says, turning back to face Jenna.
Jenna smiles and introduces us to the other two girls. "This is Rachel," she says, pointing to the girl in front of her. She has blue-green eyes and fair skin. Her hair is tied back in a ponytail but I can see purple streaks running through her hair.
"And this is Skylar," Amelia says, pointing to the other girl wearing the leather jacket. Her eyes are more of a hazel. Her hair is dyed purple as well, the exact same shade. Her hair is down and parted on the side. Part of it is shaved kind of like Lynn's hair but not as extreme. And they're dressed similarly too. Jeans, band shirt, choker, cartilage earrings. We take turns introducing ourselves to them.

"Are you guys related?" Brendon asks them.
They start laughing, exchanging looks. "No," Rachel says, "but we get that a lot."
"Yeah, we already looked kind of similar and have the same sense of fashion. But then we dyed our hair together so it's the same shade now," Skylar says. "We wish we were sisters though. That would be awesome."
"Yeah, I wish I had a sister," Jenna says. "I just got him."
Cody double takes at her. "Well, thanks." Jenna starts giggling to herself.
"You guys seniors?" I ask.
They both give a solemn nod. "Yeah, can't wait to get out of here and graduate," Rachel says. "You guys juniors?"
"Yep," Gerard says. "All of us."
"Ah, junior year was a good year," Skylar says. "Those were the good times. When I didn't have so much homework and AP classes to worry about."
The teachers get on the bus, standing up at the front. "Quiet down, everybody," Mr. Finn says. Half the bus starts whispering but the other half doesn't even acknowledge him. He stares at Ms. Wong.
"Hey, guys!" Everyone instantly shuts up within 3 seconds. Mr. Finn stares at her impressed then lets her continue. "Going through roll call, alright?" Calling out everyone's names, she goes through it quickly. She doesn't mispronounce anyone's name and I'm surprised she gets mine right the first try. Brendon and Gerard are the last ones. Everyone is here so we start going.
"Do you guys know how to ski?" Cody asks them.
"Not ski," Skylar says, "I prefer snowboarding."
"Same," Rachel says, "but I'm not as good as her." Skylar smiles contently to herself. "What about all of you?"
Cody points to Amelia. "Expert skier, Jenna and Gerard are also pretty good."
"Then Frank and I are new to this," Brendon says.
The ride is painfully long. We were told to bring a bagged lunch for the ride there. After 4 hours, they suggest we eat our lunches. Still driving, we take turns with our seat buddy, standing up and grabbing out lunch. Brendon and Gerard stand up, flipping open the compartment, grabbing out lunch. Rachel and Amelia try getting theirs but they're rather short. Cody goes over and helps them.
After nearly an hour, Ms. Wong comes by with a bag to throw out the trash. "Are you and Finn going to ski with us?" Rachel asks.
She glances up at Rachel. "I am, I love skiing. Mr. Finn though is going to be staying inside."
"Not to be a narc but how long do we have left?" Brendon asks her.
"Brendon, you're a narc regardless," she says. "We probably have a couple more hours left. It'll be early evening when we get there." Brendon's face kind of drops. "I know, we're stopping soon to go to the bathroom and walk around. I'm only getting your trash so I have an excuse to stretch my legs." She keeps walking.
"Well, we're more than halfway there," Jenna says.
Another 20 minutes pass when we get to a truck stop area. We'll be here for 30 minutes for everyone to stretch out and use the bathroom. There are also fast food restaurants for us to get something if we're still hungry. The 8 of us go to Wendy's, mostly to avoid the mass crowd of people who is going to McDonald's.
"I know we just ate, but I'm still starving," Brendon says.
"Dido," Cody says. "And I want ice cream."
"It's freezing outside," Amelia says.
Cody looks at her. "Tell me you don't want ice cream right now."
She ponders for a minute. "I mean, sure, but I'm still cold." After the 30 minutes pass, we get back on the bus, retake attendance, and continue driving.
When we get to the place, we are somehow the first bus here. Getting off, it's much colder than before. Granted, we are 6 hours north and it's snowing here with wind. Mr. Finn unloads the luggage out from the compartment and stacks them out. The girls easily find theirs, having them specific colors. All of us guys have black ones, like the other half of the students on the bus. Eventually, after flipping through name tags attached to the handle, we find all of ours.
The resort is a massive building. The entrance is the foyer and registration area and a small sitting room. Up ahead is the dining buffet, which is empty right now. Dinner will be in a little bit though. Further down is a massive arcade that I can't even see the whole inside from just looking through the doorway. The staff directs us to the different halls, which branch off from the center building. Hall 4 is on the left, clustered near the other ones from our school. We are sent off to our hall and from there, our rooms are picked. The hall is a big open area, sort of like a commons with several couches and a large flat screen over a fireplace. There are other doors surrounding the commons, which I'm assuming are everyone's room. I'm standing with my friends and there are two other groups with us. I'm pretty sure we're the only juniors here. Well, Sarah is also with us by luck. I didn't know we were on the same bus as her and I don't think she knew either. She's with her friends though, I'm not sure what grade they are. Ms. Wong steps in a few minutes after us.
"Alright, everyone," she says, the door shutting behind her, "the plan for tonight is setting up your rooms and getting comfortable here. We won't be going out today since it's late. You have the next 2 days to enjoy that. Dinner is open between 6-10 so we'll be going down there at your leisure. Breakfast is open at 6-9 so you'll have to be awake if you want to eat. Lunch is at 12-2, so less of a window there. You guys are upperclassmen so I trust that I don't need to babysit you?"
"Yeah, we're the good ones," one of the guys says with dark hair, minus the red hair dye.
Ms. Wong smiles softly. "That's what I thought. I'm going to be your adult for hall 4. If you need anything, try to find me but if there is an emergency, find anyone. If you can help it, don't have an emergency."
"No promises," Cody says.
"Yeah, I anticipate some disaster coming from you," she says, staring at him. "But you will be in your rooms. There's the whole lights out policy. Here's my condition. If you guys are quiet and following the rules, I don't mind you hanging out or talking. Just don't be scandalous teenagers. None of that, got it?" Of course, we all agree. Looking around, it's rather even between guys and girls but I doubt anything is going to happen. "Right, go call dibs on your own rooms."
It's not like there is anything to claim. All four rooms are practically identical. Four dressers, nightstands, a small closet for our coats and shoes, a mini bathroom with a shower, two queen size beds. We all take our room. We're supposed to be unpacking but I see no point in using the dressers when we aren't staying here that long. I can just live out of my suitcase. The others have the same mentality as I do so we just drop our luggage and bags on the floor. I throw myself on the farthest bed and Cody falls back on the other one. Brendon sits down next to Cody and Gerard jumps at me. I roll out of the way as he hits the mattress, the two of us giggling.
"So there are two beds and there's 4 of us," Brendon says. "Not to be gay or anything but are we just going to double up or do you guys want to sleep on the floor?"
"I don't mind sharing," Cody says. "I mean, it's not like it matters, at least to me, and I don't think the floor looks that comfortable."
"Well, if the one straight dude doesn't mind, I don't think it's a problem," Gerard says. "So pairing up, I think we're good as is? Me and Frank then you two?"
"I'm good with this," I say nonchalantly. Brendon and Cody agree.

8 151Vigilantes Make Us Safe: Rebel Rebel
When the world was on the brink in the 1940s a group of men and women with uncommon ability pulled the world from the brink. They inspired generations to come and led to a golden age of vigilantes protecting the world. Times change. By the early 2000s almost nowhere was willing to tolerate unregulated men and women dispensing their own form of justice. The dawn of the internet made operating in the shadows virtually impossible. Everyone thought the days of vigilantes were done but presidential candidate Richard Hughes, riding a wave of populism, has promised to bring these men and women into the light and empower them to keep us all safe. The passing of the Vigilantes Making Us Safe Act changes everything. All teenagers feel like they don’t fit in at times. Ryaan Asfour knows the feeling well. As part of an immigrant family in a country turning against immigrants, there’s a lot of people who don’t think he belongs. The election of Richard Hughes and the passage of the Vigilantes Making Us Safe Act hasn’t helped matters. Suddenly anyone who wants to discriminate can just say they’re keeping people safe and do whatever they want. Sudden popularity at school after hitting a game winning shot makes it even more apparent how much he doesn’t fit in with the rest of his world. A clash with a pair of vigilantes on his way home from school puts things in perspective. What can Ryaan do to protect his family and his neighborhood? Vigilantes Making Us Safe will follow a variety of lead characters including Serenity, Toxic, Hitbox, the Rebel and more. I'll keep the cover image and title updated to reflect the current protagonist but I encourage you to check them all out.

8 115Heretic: Unbound
The Fifth World is a testament to the mercurial nature of the gods. Four worlds before have been created, then destroyed, eradicated in the petty wars of their creators. The Fifth would be different, they assured themselves. Every god and goddess would limit themselves, to ensure that none of them was powerful enough to destroy what they worked so hard to create. But there are some who are not so easily controlled.Isaand Laeson is a follower of the Unbound god Szet, a Lector who wields his gods miracles to heal the sick and injured. He travels the world, hoping to do enough good in the name of his god to win some hearts and minds. But everywhere he goes, he is an outcast, slandered, insulted, hunted. A heretic, in a world ruled by the faithful. And there are none so dangerous as those who fear change. There are more chapters available on my website: https://hereticunbound.wordpress.com/
