I learnt here to always be the best person you can be. Be kind even when you are tired. Be understanding even when you're angry. Do more than you are asked, and don't ask for anything in return. Don't silently expect anything either.

Listen when someone talks, and really listen too, stop just thinking of how'll you'll reply. Tell people you love them and that you appreciate them. It's not this scary word, it shouldn't be embarrassing to figure out that you love, to hear the words spill from your mouth.

These people we met in Berlin, they live their life just being- kind. They offered us a chalet, that they had three for them all and that they could squish into two and Luella and I could have one. We had spent only one evening with them at this point. There is darkness out there, we've seen it, experienced it... but how can you truly believe that everyone is bad when we've also come across some people who are just blatantly good?
