《Poems》Looking Back

The worst past about growing up

Is forgetting who you were before.

That younger version of yourself

Left behind a closed door.

So focused on the unknown future,

Curious about every little thing,

The past gets pushed out of the way

Like Winter before Spring.

Soon enough you forget how you felt

All those years ago.

Then you forget that you forgot at all,

And the forgetfulness is shown.

You keep focusing on your goal,

With little room to spare.

Your passion and joy melt away,

But you've forgotten how to care.

The forgetfulness will catch up with you

Without a warning or a cause,

Making you question why you're doing this,

For a reason or just because?

This question will never get answered

Until you remember the things about yourself.

The past you pushed aside,

That lay collecting dust on a shelf.

Though the answer seems easy,

For too long you've been departed,

So I'll say this just this once:

Remember where you started.
