A road stretches

Across the ground we walk.

We follow

Without any questions.

Straight and narrow,

A dirt beaten path

With cracks like lightning

And weeds like a jungle.

Jagged rocks

Dig into our skin

Leaving little red patches

In our wake.

We keep our heads bowed

And keep on walking,

Like they have taught to us

From the people before them.

But some of us have the courage

To raise our heads in defiance

And dare to step off

The dirt beaten path.

We battle the road of risks

And of broken hearts and tears.

We climb over expectation's wall

And turn our backs on the mundane.

Tasting the sunshine in the air,

We take the road less traveled.

Free from the weight of the world,

We live and we don't look back,

Simply because,

We don't want to.
