《Poems》That Stupid Feeling

I wake up to my same stupid alarm

At 6am like every morning

But today is different

I am late to class with an empty stomach

And my tired eyes burning

I get a D on my English quiz

And I fail the math test I studied so hard for

My friends aren't here

And there's this feeling

Of being alone in a crowded room

Of smashing plates in an abandoned forest

Of free falling through the air with nothing to hold onto

Of screaming into my pillow but not making a sound

Of watching water run down the drain

Of snapping pencils with all my might and getting splinters from the wood

Of standing in a soundproof glass box, the world moving around me

All my emotions tucked into one place

One place that doesn't exist

I place on my fake smile

And make it through the day

With my made up emotions

I stand in the shower

Water pouring down my back

Tears dripping down my face

And I realize

I don't want to be here anymore

So I go to my safe haven

And pull out a book

And suddenly

I'm home again
