Cole's POV

It was the day of the game. My team was a bit nervous because this school was really really good. Coach told them not to worry and that he has faith in us. He also made sure I bring Lex with me.

Lex was with me. She was wearing a replica of my soccer jersey. All of us in the team have one and we give it to anyone we want. Usually we give it to our girlfriends or whoever will be cheering us on.

A bark snaps me out of my thoughts. I look around and see Cola running towards me. I chuckle and open my arms out for him. He jumps into my arms and licks my face.

"Hey Buddy!! Glad you could make it." I say, petting his head.

"Where's Lexi?" I ask him.

Just as I say that, a pair of hands cover my eyes. I chuckled, automatically knowing who it is.

"Hmmm I wonder who this is..." I trail off

"Is it...Chase? No the hands are too soft." I continue to fake ponder

"Is it Ariana? Hmm...No. " I remove the hands and turn around. I grab Lexi by her waist and pull her closer to me.

"Ariana isn't as pretty as this person."

"Hi." I say breathlessly

"Hi." She giggles

"I was right. Ariana is definitely not as pretty as you." I say as I shamelessly check her out

"You're eyes were closed though." She points out

"Yeah. I knew it was you, so I know you're more beautiful than her." I say. She rolls her eyes at me.

"I brought Cole with me if that's okay." She says

"I don't really know if dogs are allowed..." I say

"Cole!!!! There you are" Coach yells

Coach nears us and a smirk crosses his face when he sees Lexi and I. I realized then that I still haven't let go of Lex and that we were still very close to each other. I mentally sighed and let her go.

"Hello Alexa! I'm glad to see you'll be joining us" Coach grins

"Heya Coach! Is it okay if I brought my dog with me? I just couldn't leave him alone." Lexi says

"Of course!!! As long as he behaves." Coach says

"Anyways. Cole, the game is about to start. It's time for the team cap to give some inspirational speech." He tells me

"Okay Coach. I'll be there in a minute." I say. He nods. He gives me a knowing look and Lexi a smile.

"So...how the hell do you know my coach? And why is he so kind to you?" I ask the question that has been nagging me since we first saw Coach smile

"Oh. Coach and his wife used to be our neighbors. They knew about how my family treated me and would help as much as they can. I always refuse their help, especially financially, because they needed it more for the wife's treatment. Coach's wife had breast cancer and they needed the money for her. Since I refused their money, they gave me something else. They gave me family. They cared for me and treated me as if I was family. When Coach's wife died, he moved to a new house. The old one jusy had too many bad memories. He apologized for not being able to help me and I've forgiven him."

"Ohhhhhhhh"

"Yeah. Oh. Now go Mr. Team Captain, give them your speech." She says and tried to push me towards the locker room

"Okay okay I'll go." I say. I hug her tightly and she hugs back

"Goodluck Cole." She says

"Thanks Lex." I smile lightly. I felt her lips on my shoulder and she kisses it ever so softly. I almost missed it. Key word: almost. My smile growns even bigger and I almost didn't want to let go. I had to though.

I walk back to the locker room and just as the door closes you can hear Lex yell

"DO YOUR BEST AND HAVE FUN"

The team chuckles and so does Coach.

"Yeah...I think she summed up my speech" I chuckle

I gave the team a proper talking to and soon we were out on the field. I looked around and saw her sitting with Jess. I smiled and soon the game started.

The team playing was really good. It was half time now and the cheerleaders were performing. I was stressed out because currently the other team was leading. I ruffled my hair in annoyance and took a big gulp of water. I felt a pair of eyes staring at me. I turned to see who it was and saw Lex staring at me with concern. I smile lightly at her and give her a thumbs up to show her I'm okay. Jess wasn't by her side right now which I found strange but shrugged it off nonetheless.

As soon as the cheerleaders finished, the teams went back onto the field.

"WOOOOHH GO COLE!!! GO CHASE!!!!" I hear two familiar loud yells. I turned around to see Jess and Lex yelling at the top of their lungs and holding two huge signs that said and

I laughed along with Chase, who was now stood next to me. We waved at them and they laughed. They fake squealed and fanned themselves, as if fangirling over us. We laughed even more before running back to the team. I felt a sudden rush of energy and I was feeling more determined to win this thing.

We won.

Screams and yells filled the air. It was a close game, but we won. Ever since half time, we've been catching up fast and I took the final shot for the team. We yelled in victory. Chase came running towards me and jumped ontop of me. The whole team soon followed and we ended up in a big dog pile. Peopld were cheering my name and our team. We all hugged Coach and he gave us high fives. I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around, only to be kissed roughly by Ariana. My eyes were wide in shock but I kissed back. The yells got louder and wolf whistles can be heard. We pull away and I see that we were caught on the big screen. Ariana giggled and basked in the attention.

"There's your congratulations kiss" she giggles

"Why thank you Madam" I wink at her, making her giggle even more. In the corner of my eye, I see Jess hugging Chase. I quickly excused myself and went over to them.

"Hey guys!!" I say

They looked over to me, and for a moment a flash of disappointment could be seen in their eyes. It was only for a second though, as it was replaced by a big smile.

"CONGRATS COLE!!!!" Jess yells. I smile widely and thank her. We were talking for a while but then Lexi runs up to Jess. Her eyes stayed glued to the floor and she was shaking badly. She tugged on Jess' arm frantically.

"Lex, speak up. I can't hear you." Jess says

"WE HAVE TO GO!!!" She yells

"Why?! I know you're upset and all but jeez at least congratulate Cole and the twins" Jess exclaimed angrily. Why was Lex upset?

"Jess, please." Lex looks up and pleads. She has tears in her eyes which shocks us all.

"Reynolds!!" Someone calls out. Lex freezes in her spot as we all turned to see who it was.

The team captain of the other team was calling out to me and walking over to us.

"Congratulations on the win and the girl, Reynolds." He says

"Heh. Thanks. You and your team played well today." I say

"Thanks." He looks over at Jess and sees Lexi. He smirks at her, but Lexi keeps her face void of any emotions.

"Hello Alexa." He says

"Josh." She nods at him

"How are you doing?" He asks

"Fine."

"Missed me?"

"Please leave. My friends and I have somewhere to go." She snaps

"Tsk tsk tsk. I don't like your tone Alexa. That's really rude." He says

"Oh Alexa. I remember the last time you had friends." He smirks

Something flashes in Lexi's eyes and her body goes even more stiff if it was possible. She moves away from Jess and takes a growling Cola's leash.

"I'll just wait for you guys there." She says coldly. She walks away from us and Cola follows her. Once she's out of sight, Jess glares at Josh.

"YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE." She yells

"Nice to see you too Jessica" His smirk grows wider

"DONT YOU FUCKING CALL ME THAT YOU SHIT HEAD" She continues to yell. Jess goes up to him and tries to slap him, but Chase holds her back.

"I'll see you and Alexa real soon, Jessica" he says and winks at her before walking away.

Jess starts shaking and runs away. Chase and I look at each other in confusion before running after her. It didn't take long for us to catch up with her because she had slumped down on the floor and started crying. Chase quickly runs over to her and comforts her.

"Jess? Jess, babe, what's wrong? What happened? Who the hell was that douche?" Chase asks her. Jess just shakes her head and continues sobbing. After a coupls of minutes, Jess finally speaks.

"Find Alexa. She'll tell you everything." She says looking at me

"Please take me home." She whispers to Chase. Chase immediately nods and takes her keys. He carries her bridal style to her car. I went back to the locker room to collect both Chase and I's stuff. Almost no one was there. They were most likely out celebrating or getting ready for the celebratory party.

I rushed to my car and began my search for Lexi.

She has a lot of explaining to do.
