《Foster Brothers | COMPLETED》Ch. 39 - Home

Getting off of the plane, I took a deep breath of relief. I was glad I'm back in West Virginia.
"You ready?" Lisa asked me as I waited for her to get her bag.
"Yeah, lets go home," I told her which made her smile.
We went down the escalator when I saw the boys, Brent, the girls, and Ross standing at the bottom waiting for us.
I smiled, and they ran to us when we were on the floor. They hugged Lisa and I saying stuff,"We miss you. We're glad you made it safe."
"I missed you guys, too," I said, hugging them back.
When we broke apart, Elliot asked,"So did he sign it?"
I nodded,"He did."
They cheered, and Brent wrapped an arm around my shoulders. I laid my head on his shoulder as we walked out of the airport.
"How was the game?" I asked Brent.
"It was good. We won, but it wasn't an easy game," Brent replied. "And it didn't help that my good luck charm wasn't there."
I smiled,"Believe me, I wanted to be there."
We stopped outside where all of the cars were parked. Everybody started to load into three vehicles, and Brent popped the trunk to his car. I placed my suitcases in the trunk.
Then we got into his car, and we drove off towards my house. Since we were in the city, it was a long ride home.
The sun was setting, but it still was cold. Nothing like Florida was, but I wouldn't trade for the world.
When we parked outside my house, I noticed somebody moving from the window. My eyebrows scrunched in confusion, and I looked back at Brent.
"Is somebody here that I don't know about?" I asked Brent when we got out of the car.
He shook his head,"Not that I know of. Why?"
"I just saw somebody in the window," I said as he opened the trunk.
I got my suitcase out of the trunk, and everybody was behind us. They parked their cars, and I was about to ask them, but a familiar voice made me freeze.

"Finally. I was about to send a search party," Bella's voice yelled.
I turned around to see her in jeans and a sweater. Her black hair was in a braid, and she was shocked to see me too.
"I thought you were picking up Lisa," Bella said, looking at Ross.
He nodded,"We did. She's right here with Campbell. They went to Florida to get Campbell's adoption papers signed from her father."
I couldn't tell if Bella was mad or sad. Maybe a mixed of both.
I walked passed her, not making eye contact with her. I walked upstairs to my room, and I put my suitcase on my bed.
I felt relived to be back in my room. My safe spot.
Brent knocked on my opened door, and he smiled when I turned around.
"The group was thinking about going to a movie theatre to watch some comedy movie," Brent said, pointing behind him.
"That sounds fun," I replied, focusing on my suitcase.
"You don't sound excited. Did something happened in Florida?" Brent asked me, breaking my focus from the suitcase.
There really was no point in lying to Brent. He knows when I'm lying.
"I had to put my foot down. My father refused to sign the papers, and I lost it," I said, sitting on the edge of my bed.
Brent sat down beside me, and he enlaced our hands together. I looked at him directly in the eyes.
"Campbell, you had to. If he didn't sign those papers, there was a risk that you would have to leave here," Brent said.
"I know, but his face just broke my heart. I never seen him like that."
"Well, if it helps, my parents are leaving in two weeks. Vanessa was really upset this time. She thought they were staying, and to be honest I thought so too," Brent said, looking down at our hands.
I let go of one of his hands, and I gently rubbed his cheek with my thumb.
"I'm sorry, Brent."
He shrugged,"I should've known better."
"Are you guys coming or what?" Nick asked, walking into my room.
We looked at him, and he said,"Oh was I interrupting something. I'm sorry. I'll come back later. Just keep it PG!"

Before we could say anything, he shut the door. I shook my head, and Brent chuckled.
"How about we forgot about our problems, and go to the movie theaters like regular teenagers?" I asked Brent.
He nodded,"That sounds amazing."
I smiled, and we walked out of my room. We walked downstairs where everybody was at.
"Let's go to the movies," Elliot said with a smile.
I nodded, and we said goodbye to Lisa and Ross.
"Campbell, can I talk to you for a moment?" Bella asked when we walked outside.
"Sure," I replied, giving her no reaction.
We walked over to the side of the house, and she licked her lips.
"I'm sorry," Bella blurted out loud. "I judge you too quickly, and I shouldn't have went through your past. That was personal, and I invaded it."
I bit my lip,"How did you find out?" About my past?"
"I have a close friend who works with the foster care. She told me what she could. Again I'm sorry. I should've respected your privacy," Bella said.
"Why are you apologizing now?" I asked her.
"At first, I hated the idea of you living here. But now I see that you helped them a lot. Ross and Lisa tried for a girl after Micheal for years, but they never got pregnant again. I always saw there was something missing in their lives. And that was you. Instead of judging you, I should have been thanking you. Please forgive me," Bella said.
"I forgive you, Bella. Family?" I asked her, extending my hand.
She shook it,"Family."
"Awesome, now excuse me, I have something to do," I said, looking over at Brent who was already in the car.
"Have fun," Bella replied before walking inside.
When I got into the car, Brent asked,"Everything okay?"
I nodded,"Yeah. Everything is perfect."
Brent drove off towards the theatre where the group was at. When we got there, Brent and I got out of the car before walking over to them.
"Finally! I thought we would be frozen by the time y'all got here," Micheal said, shivering.
"Sorry, little dude," I said, slinging an arm around him.
We walked in the theatre before getting our tickets. We got some candy and popcorn before going to our seats.
I laid my head on Brent's shoulder while he ate some popcorn. The movie started, and I smiled.
Half way through the movie, we laughed, and I looked around me. The group was either laughing or smiling at the movie.
I looked back at the movie, and I thought to myself.
I am extremely lucky to have all these people in my life. They basically saved me.
My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I took it out to see who texted me.
My screen brightness was down all the way so I wouldn't be disturbing anybody else.
Don't get too cozy. - Unknown
I stared at the device, confused. Whoever this is has the wrong number. I quickly blocked the number before putting the phone back in my pocket.
That message stayed in my head for the rest of the movie. When the movie ended, Brent drove me home.
"I'll pick up tomorrow," Brent said, kissing my forehead.
"Sounds like a plan. Goodnight, Brent. I love you," I said, giving him a smile.
"Love you too. Have sweet dreams," Brent said, letting go of my hands.
I walked inside the house, and I heard Brent's car leave the driveway. I walked upstairs, and I walked into my room.
I really needed to unpack, but I didn't feel doing it right now. I changed out of my clothes into a black tank top and a pair of gray sweatpants.
I turned the light off, and I climbed into bed. I stared at my ceiling for hours, thinking about that text message.
Something about it gave me bad vibes, and I don't know why.
Maybe I just need to take a chill pill.
Everything is perfect. I'm getting adoption, Bella and I don't hate each other any more, and I'm back home.
I don't need to worry about anything.
I think.
