《Foster Brothers | COMPLETED》Ch. 31 - Dinner with the Masons

To say I was nervous was an understatement. I was terrified.
I didn't go to school today because Lisa didn't want any paparazzi stalking me. The only reason why the boys went was because of practice. If they didn't go to school, they would have to run laps.
"Anna, I promise you that I'm fine. I'm probably going to watch Vampire Diaries all day," I told Anna through the phone.
"I wish I was there instead of school," she said, making me laugh.
"I thought you love school?" I asked her.
She sighed,"I do, but right now I'm exhausted."
I laughed,"Well, you should probably head to class before you get in trouble."
"Yeah," she agreed."Call you later?"
"Yep. I'll be here all day until six," I said, spinning in my chair.
"What happens at six?" She asked.
"I am having dinner with Brent's parents tonight," I said, casually.
"Oh, well, it shouldn't be that bad. You had Thanksgiving with them a couple of weeks ago," she said, and I heard rustling.
"I hope it goes well."
"It will. They'll love you. You're sweet, respectful, and you make their son happy."
"But my face is all over the news right now," I added.
"Anna! Come on or we'll be late," I heard Elliot's voice said in the background.
"I'm coming," she replied.
"Go to class, and I'll text you later," I told her.
"Okay, well, you know if you need anything, we're all one phone call away."
"I know. Bye," I said.
"Bye," she said before she hung up the phone.
I put my phone on the table, and I sighed. What am I going to do today?
I looked over at my bookshelf to find a book. I read all of them, and I really needed to go to the bookstore. I picked out a romance book, and I laid on my bed.
I have read it a lot, but I'll probably read it again today. And to finish watching season 5 of The Vampires Diaries.
And that's exactly what I did. I ate lunch, played with Winter in the backyard, and I watched tv. When it was around three o'clock, I went upstairs to take a shower.
I washed my hair and my body before leaving the shower. With the gray towel wrapped around me, I started to blow dry my hair. It takes about forty minutes to blow dry my hair since it's so thick and long. When I was almost finished, somebody knocked on my bedroom door.
"Campbell? Can I come in?" I heard Nick's voice came from my bedroom door.
"Hold on," I said before throwing on sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I opened the door to see him leaning against the frame, patiently waiting for me.
He walked into my room, and he sat on my chair. I shut my door, and I sat on my bed.
"What's up?" I asked him, breaking the silence.
"I need you to promise me something," he started.
"Okay?" I asked, hesitant.
"Promise me you will never break Brent's heart," he said, making me confuse.
"Okay," I replied.
"I'm serious. Promise me you will never break his heart. He doesn't show it, but it kills him every time his parents leave, and his brother leaves him, too, to go party," Nick said, looking at me serious.
"Nick, I promise you that I'm not going to break his heart," I said, slowly.

Then a huge grin broke out onto his face,"Well, now, I'm going to Krispy Kreme."
"Have fun with that," I said while he walked out of my door.
"I will," he replied before shutting the door.
I shook my head, and I walked over to my curling iron. Since my hair is dry, I can get started on curling it. While the iron was warming up, I walked into my closet to pick out an outfit.
I grabbed a maroon v-neck dress with no sleeves, a white cardigan so I won't freeze, and my brown ankle boots.
Then I looked in my jewelry box for some jewelry. I picked out a golden bracelet with white diamonds in it and a golden necklace with a white diamond on it. I laid the outfit on my bed along with the jewelry.
I walked back over to the curling iron to see that it was ready to be used. I grabbed my hairbrush, brushing out all of the knots in my hair. Then I started to curl the ends of my hair.
Six Shawn Mendes songs later, and my hair was completely done. I decided to put on some makeup as well; foundation, concealer, brown eye shadow, mascara, and red lipstick.
After I was done with my makeup, it was five fifteen meaning that Brent will be here any second. So I quickly changed into my dress, trying my best not to mess up my makeup, and my shoes. Then I put on my jewelry. As I was putting my phone in my little black purse, a knock on the door scared me.
"Coming!" I yelled before slinging my purse over my shoulder.
I opened the door to see Brent standing there. He was dressed in a gray sweater with a black button up shirt over it, and a pair of dark blue jeans. His sleeves were rolled up, revealing his forearms. His hair had some gel in it, but it was spiked up.
He looked me up and down with wide eyes."Hey, beautiful."
I smiled,"Hey, handsome."
He extended his hand for me to grab. I took it without hesitation, and I shut my door. We walked downstairs, and he opened the front door for me.
"Lisa! I'm going with Brent! I'll be back at eight!" I yelled.
"Okay, sweetie! Have fun!" She yelled back.
I walked outside, and Brent shut the door behind us. We walked to his car, and he opened the door for me. I climbed in before he shut it and went over to his side.
Then we drove off towards his house. I can't believe I'm about to have dinner at his house. I hope his parents love me.
Omg! This means that our relationship is like official, official.
"Holy crap," I muttered, causing Brent to look at me.
"Hmph?" He asked.
"Nothing. I was clearing my throat," I lied, faking a cough.
"Still a bad liar, princess," he said, trying not to laugh at my reaction.
"Okay, fine, you caught me. I'm just nervous. This means that we are official like really official," I said, playing with the hem of my dress.
"Don't be. They loved you at Thanksgiving, they'll love you tonight. We are official, this is just taking another step in our relationship," he said, holding my hand.
"You're right. I'm just overreacting," I said, taking a deep breath.
He gave me a side smile, and I looked out the window. We passed the high school, and we turned onto a road a few minutes after. It was a neighborhood with a lot of houses on either side.

He slowed down, and he turned into a driveway. The house was a two story brown house with some parts of it brick. There was some other cars parked in the driveway, which I'm guessing belongs to his family.
When Brent parked his car, I unlocked my seatbelt. I opened my door, and I stepped out before grabbing my purse. Brent came over to me, and he shut my door.
"You ready?" He asked, standing gin beside me.
I nodded,"Yep."
He held my hand, and he gave it a squeeze in comfort. Then we started to walk to the front door. Me, being my clumsy self, tripped on one of the stairs, but Brent caught me.
"Careful," he said, helping me up the stairs.
He opened the front door to reveal a huge living room. Vanessa was sitting on the couch, watching Bubble Guppies before noticing we were in the room. She ran to me, and she hugged my legs.
"Campwell! I've miss you!" She said, holding my legs tightly.
"I missed you too, Nessa," I told her with a bright smile.
"Come watch Bubble Guppies with mw!" She exclaimed, dragging me to the couch.
"She can in just a minute, Nessa. I think Mom wants to see her first," Brent said to his sister.
"Fwne," she said with a eye roll.
I quietly laughed to myself as Vanessa threw herself on the couch. Brent led me into another room which was the kitchen. His mother was standing there at the oven, cooking some rice.
"Mom, we're here," Brent said, making his mother turn around.
Martha looked the same like she did at Thanksgiving. Her long blonde hair was in a tight bun, and her brown eyes were filled with happiness. She was wearing a light gray dress with black heels.
"Campbell!" She exclaimed, hugging me. "It's so nice to see you again."
"You too, Mrs. Mason," I said, hugging her back.
She let go of me, and she looked me up and down.
"You can call me, Martha, dear. You look gorgeous, by the way," she said.
"Thank you, Martha, you too," I complimented her.
She smiled, and she looked over to her son. "You better not lose this one, Brent. She's one of a kind."
Brent nodded,"I know."
"How about you go with Brent, and he'll give you a tour of the house while I finish dinner?" Martha suggested.
"Sure," I said, making Brent nod.
Martha went back to cooking while Brent led me back into the living room.
"As you can see this is the living room. One of my best friends; especially the couch," Brent said, gesturing to the leather couch.
I laughed while he kept talking about the other rooms downstairs. Once we were downstairs, we walked upstairs.
"Vanessa's room is down there along with my parents' room. And down this hall," Brent said, walking to the other hallway,"is my room, Xavier's room, and a bathroom."
He opened a door, and we walked into a gray room. This must be his room. The bed was against the wall, and he had two lacrosse sticks crossing each other on his wall. Then he had a desk which was covered in textbooks (sorta like mine). Then there is a flat screen tv hanging on the wall. For a teenage boy, his room is super clean.
Nick's room and Gaberial's room are the dirties rooms I have ever seen in my life. The others aren't that bad, but those two are the worse.
"It's cozy," I said, looking back at Brent, who was leaning against the wall.
"That's what I like about it," he replied, walking towards his bed.
He picked up a book from his nightstand, and he handed to me. I took it, and I looked at the title.
The Notebook.
"You were saying the other day that you didn't have anything good to read. That book is amazing," he said, walking back over to me.
I looked at him, suspiciously,"You read this?" I raised the book up between us.
He nodded,"I did a month ago. I also watched the movie. Made me cry."
I licked my lips,"I have never watched the movie or read the book. Thank you."
"No problem. Maybe after you watch it, we can watch the movie together."
"That's a plan, Stan," I said.
"Dinner is done!" Martha yelled, making us walk out of Brent's room.
Martha had all of the food on the dining room table, and Vanessa was sitting on one of the chairs already. I sat down on the other side of Vanessa, and Brent sat next down next to me.
Brent's father was talking to Martha who didn't look please. When he found me looking at them, he put on a smile, and he sat down at the end of the table. Martha sat down by Vanessa and him. The only seat that was open was the seat next to me, also known as the end table.
"You must be Campbell, I'm Walter," Brent's father introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Mason," I told him.
"Mom! I'll be back by three," Xavier said, walking into the dining room.
He was taken back when he saw me sitting there next to Brent. Then he looked over at his mother.
"Not so fast, Xavier. You will join us for dinner your mother cooked for us. Then you can leave," Mr. Mason said, gesturing to the seat next to me.
"I'm nineteen. I don't have to listen to you," Xavier said, still standing.
"And you don't have to live in my house. Like you said, you're nineteen. You are a legal adult, and that means you can find your own house."
Xavier let out a deep sigh before sitting down. Then Martha smiled.
"Dig in. It's chicken, rice, and a salad," she said before dumping some rice on her plate.
We all did the same, and not long after we were all eating. Xavier has been silent the whole time, which I don't think is a good thing since he keeps looking at me weirdly.
We were half way done with eating when Mr. Mason asked me a question.
"So, Campbell, Brent tells us that you have an interest in sports. Is that true?" Walter asked, cutting his chicken.
"Yes sir. Volleyball and soccer," I told him, eating my rice.
"I loved soccer in high school," Martha said before taking a sip of her water.
"And what about college?" Walter asked.
"I really haven't thought about that, but I really want to help kids and teens all around the world," I said.
Walter smiled,"That's amazing. I can see why Brent likes you so much."
I felt the blush on my cheeks, and I looked down at my plate.
"Aren't you the girl who is all over the news?" Xavier asked, making me snap my head towards his direction.
"I'll be right back. I have to use the potty," Vanessa told everybody before leaving the room.
"Xavier," Walter warned, giving Xavier a serious look.
"I am," I replied, biting the inside of my cheek.
I looked out of the corner of my eye to see Brent giving Xavier a death glare that could kill anything.
"Hmph," Xavier said, drinking his water.
"What's that suppose to mean, Xavier?" Brent asked.
"Brent," Walter said with the same tone of voice he had with Xavier.
Xavier looked at his brother. "I just don't understand why you would go for her. She's worthless, really."
That's when Brent attacked Xavier. Brent was on top of Xavier, punching him in the face. I froze when I saw Brent punching him. I never seen Brent this violent. It made me scared.
"Brent!" Martha yelled, while Walter tried to get Brent off of Xavier.
"You're the one that's worthless. Getting drunk every night, not worried about anybody but yourself!" Brent said through punches.
"Brent! Stop! You're scaring Campbell!" Martha said, and he stopped punching Xavier.
Xavier has a busted lip, a bruised eye, and both of his cheeks were bruised. When Brent got off of him, I stood up. He tried to wrapped his arm around my waist, but I flinched away from him. I looked behind Brent to see Walter helping Xavier up.
"Come on Xavier," Walter said, half dragging Xavier into the kitchen.
"I'm not sorry for hitting him. He started it," Brent told his mother when she was waiting for an apology.
"I have to go check on Vanessa," she replied, walking out of the room.
Brent looked back at me, and I avoided his stare.
"Campbell, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to overreact or anything. He just-.." he started, but I cut him off.
"I never seen you so violent before, Brent," I said, gulping.
"And I'm so sorry. I promise I'll never hurt you. Xavier just hit a nerve," he said before enlacing our hands.
"Please forgive me, princess. I hate seeing you scared. Especially when you're scared of me," he said, softly.
"I forgive you, Brent. It's just brought back some memories that's all," I told him.
"Can I hug you now?" He asked.
I nodded, and he wrapped his arms around me. I laid my head on his chest, and he rubbed my back.
That's when I saw his knuckles. They were bruised and red from hitting Xavier. I stepped away from Brent, and I grabbed his wrists.
"Brent..." I said, looking at his knuckles.
"I didn't even notice," he said, looking at his knuckles.
"I'll go grab you an ice pack," I said before walking into the kitchen. Walter and Xavier weren't in here so I looked into the freezer. I didn't see an ice pack so I grabbed a bag of peas and a bag of broccoli.
"Do you want peas or broccoli?" I asked, showing him the options.
"Peas are fine," he replied, and I laid the peas on his knuckles.
He hissed, not because of the pain, but because how cold the bag was. He looked back up at me.
"Thank you," he said.
"No problem. It's my fault you got into the fight with Xavier."
"No it's not. He was trying to get at me, and he got his way," he said, taking my hand with his other hand.
"What time is it? I have to be home by ten," I said, changing the subject.
Brent looked at his phone, and he smiled. "It's only seven thirty. We still have two hours. How about we go to my room, and we watch a movie?"
"Okay," I said, trying my best to hide my smile.
He led me upstairs where we passed Martha and Mr. Mason who were sitting on the couch, watching a cooking tv show.
"Where's Nessa?" Brent asked his mother.
"Upstairs almost asleep. I don't think she feels good," Martha said, before Mr. Mason started to talk.
"And Xavier left. He'll be back later," Walter said.
"Okay. We're going to watch a movie until I have to take Campbell home," Brent told his parents.
"Alright. Have fun," Martha said before we walked upstairs.
When we made it to his room, Brent said,"I'm going to go change. I'll be right back."
I nodded while he grabbed a pair of gray sweatpants and a hoodie before walking into his bathroom.
I decided to kick my shoes off, and I placed them by his desk. Then I waited for Brent by sitting on his bed. When he came out, he laid next to me by the wall. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, leaning me back so my back was laying against his chest.
"What do you want to watch?" He asked, turning the tv on.
"Mmmmh, something action wise," I said, as he clicked on Netflix.
"Black Panther it is," Brent said, clicking on Black Panther.
He grabbed a blanket from the edge of his bed, and he threw it on us so we wouldn't freeze.
The movie started to play, and Brent and I started to talk about how cool something was in the movie. By the time it was over, it was almost nine forty five.
I put my shoes back on, and Brent waited by his door. I grabbed the book Brent gave me before walking out of his room. Then we walked downstairs to see Martha and Walter waiting for us.
"Thank you for having me over, and dinner was delicious," I told them.
"No problem sweetie. I enjoyed your company, and thank you. I hope to see you soon," Martha said.
I nodded,"Yes maam."
"Goodnight, Campbell," Mr. Mason said with a grin.
"Goodnight," I replied.
Then Brent and I walked out to his car, and we drove off towards my house. It has been a long night, and I'm so ready to climb into my warm bed. Even though I loved Brent's bed since he was in it, I want my favorite pillow.
"You still want to go to the fair tomorrow?" Brent asked me, looking at me then back at the road.
"Yeah. We're all going," I told him.
"Just making sure that you want to still go," he said.
When we pulled into my driveway, I kissed him goodbye.
"I'll see you tomorrow," I said, opening my door.
"Yep. Sweet dreams, princess," he said when I got out of the car.
I shut the door, but the window was still down.
"Night, Brent."
Then I walked inside of my house to see the boys playing Call of Duty in the living room.
"How was your dinner?" Elliot asked.
