《Foster Brothers | COMPLETED》Ch. 24 - Special

It's Sunday, meaning that today is mine and Brent's date. I was looking through my clothes for something to wear. He was picking me up at 3, and it's 1:45.
Ugh.
Elliot got a cast for his leg, and he is in it for six to eight weeks, but he can't play lacrosse becaus the muscle is very tender espically after the cast comes off.
"Knock, knock," Lisa said, knocking on my open door.
"Come in," I replied, from the closet.
"You got a mess going on in here, huh?" She asked, referring to my clothes on the floor and on the bed.
"It happened by itself," I replied, grabbing a cute blue sweater with a pair of white ripped jeans.
"You ready for you date with Brent?"
My head shot up. How did she know about that?
"How did you-..."
She simply shrugged before replying,"A mother always knows. Plus Anna filled me in a few minutes ago."
"Anna," I grumbled under my breath, putting the outfit in my hands back on the shelf.
"Do you need help to get ready?" She asked.
I nodded,"Yes. Please, I feel like I have nothing to wear."
She laughed,"Every girl on her first date thinks that, but I promise you there is going to be an outfit that is perfect."
I let her search through my closet while I sat on the bed. Five minutes later she came out with a white sweater, black tights, and a black and white plaid skirt that reached mid thigh. It was a very cute outfit. (Up top)
"How about this? It's cute, and it will keep you warm," She asked, holding it up.
"I love it. I'm going to go try it on," I replied, getting up from the bed.
"I'll be out here," I heard her say before I shut the door.
I put the outfit on along with a white bra before stepping back into my room for Lisa to see. She smiled and clapped her hands in excitement.
"It is so pretty. Now all we have to do is curl the ends of your hair, and you will be ready to go, my dear," she said like a fashion designer.
I laughed. She urged me to sit in the chair so she could do my hair.
"I always wanted a daughter," she said, making me look up to see her in the mirror. "Don't get me wrong I love my boys, but they never want to go shopping or have 'girl talk'."
"My mom left when I was little so I didn't get to experience mother and daughter bonding time. We would go to the movies or to the park, but my dad was always with us. I'm glad that I'm getting to experience it with you," I said, playing with my skirt.
"Aw, thank you, Campbell. You are so sweet," Lisa said, wiping a tear away.
"Don't cry. I'm sorry," I instantly said.
"I'm fine. It's not your fault. It is just what you said was so sweet. I was so scared that you would hate me," she said, wiping her watery eyes with a napkin.
"I could never hate you, Lisa. Or any of you. You have all been so kind and open arms."
"I love you, Campbell," she said, making my heart stop.
This was the first time I heard Lisa said she loved me. Love.

"I love you, too," I replied.
I stood up, and I hugged her. She hugged me back, and then my phone buzzed.

"The girls are going to interrogate me until my death," I joked switching my phone off.
"Haha," Lisa laughed, checking her watch. "You have ten minutes until he arrives."
Ten minutes?? Oh boy.
I put on some socks with some black leather boots that reach right before my knees. Lisa threw in a few more curls before saying that I was good.
I sprayed some perfume on my clothes. Then I put some mascara on my eyelashes before putting my phone in my purse.
"Oh, Campbell! Somebody is at the door for you!" Lisa yelled.
I grabbed Brent's jacket before checking myself in the mirror one more time.
I walked downstairs to see Brent. He was in dark blue jeans, a white shirt, a green sweatshirt over it, and a pair of black and white Vans. His blonde hair was spike up, and his blue eyes widen when they saw me.
Mine did the same when I noticed he was holding flowers, it they weren't just any flowers. They were my favorite. Roses.
They were all dark red.
"These are for you," he said, handing them to me.
"Thank you," I thanked him.
"Aww! Ross, go get the camera," Lisa said, hitting Ross's chest. Brent and I looked over at them.
"Honey, you ruined it. They were having a moment," he complained.
Brent chuckled before saying,"Where is everybody at?"
"Elliot is asleep, and everybody else is playing games in the den," Lisa told him. "Campbell, I can put the roses in water in a vase if you would like."
I nodded, handing her the beautiful flowers. She disappeared into the kitchen while Ross was saying something to Brent.
"Alrighty. Are you ready to go?" Brent asked when they were done talking.
I nodded. He held out his hand, and I put my hand in his.
"Be safe you two, and have fun. Bring her back before 7 with no scratch on her," Ross said, pointing at Brent.
He nodded before we left. He opened the passenger door like a gentleman, and waited for me to get in the car. Then he ran around to his side, and got in before driving away.
"So where are we going?" I asked a few minutes after we left.
"It's a surprise, Princess," he said, glancing at me before looking at the road again.
"I hate surprises," I grumbled like a five year old.
"You're going to love mine."
"How do you know? Can you see the future?" I asked.
"No, but google said that girls like what we are about to do," he said.
"Google?" I asked.
He turned red before waving it off,"N-Nothing."
"Aww! You're blushing. I think it is very sweet," I said, truthfully.
"Mmph. Well you weren't suppose to find out about that," he told me.
"Well, I'm glad that I did."
He didn't say anything, but he did turn up the radio. Don't Start Now by Dua Lipa was playing, and I hummed along to it.

"Alright, we are here," Brent said, parking the car.
I opened my door to see woods around us. It was very quiet, and I didn't see anybody else.
"Are you planning on killing me?" I asked suddenly, turning around to see him grabbing something from the trunk.
"What? No. The surprise is a few minutes away from here," he said, shutting the trunk.
"Lead the way," I said, holding my hand out for him.
He grabbed it, and he started to walk into the forest. I followed behind him, admiring the flowers and trees. It was very pretty, but it is going to be dark soon and I don't like to be in the middle of nowhere in the dark.
Ten minutes later, Brent stopped walking. Then he turned to me.
"I need you to keep your eyes close," he said, causally.
I laughed. He couldn't be serious, right?
I stopped laughing when he didn't laugh with me. "Oh, you,'re serious."
He nodded, "Very."
"Fine, but if you kill me, I will haunt you until the end of your days."
"I'm not going to kill you."
"That's not what it looks like."
"Come on, princess," he replied, taking a step.
"Fine."
I grabbed his arm before closing my eyes. Maybe he is leading me to a hole where I will fall and die. Or somebody else is going to kill me but he doesn't want me to know.
I really got to stop watching Criminal Minds.
"Now stay right here, but do not open your eyes," he said, letting go of me.
I heard some rustling. Oh god! A bear is going to end my life!
"Now open," Brent said behind me.
I opened to see a field of all kinds of flowers. The sun was setting so the sky was pink, orange, blue, and yellow. There was a large oak tree in the middle of the field where there was no flowers. I walked over to see a red and white picnic blanket on the ground, along with a tan picnic basket with grapes, water, sandwiches, etc. The tree was wrapped in fairy lights. It was beautiful.
I turned back around to see Brent standing there with his hands in his pocket.
"Do you like it?" He asked.
"I love it. It's so pretty. How even-.." I said, star struck that he did this.
He shrugged,"The boys and I found it a couple of years back when we were camping with Ross. I knew that you loved flowers and sunsets so here we are."
"Thank you so much," I thanked him.
He waved it off,"Anything for my princess."
I sat down on the blanket, and I looked around in awe. He sat down beside me, handing me a water. They were the small bottles, so it made it even cuter.
"Now, Google said that you are suppose to ask each other questions to get to know each other," he said, looking at the sky.
"Did it now? You can go first," I said after taking a sip of water.
"Where were you born?"
"Florida. What is your dream job?"
He shrugged,"I always wanted to be a superhero, but in the real world I want to be a football player. Next question; what do you like about me?"
"Your ability to make me laugh or smile when I am having a bad day," I replied.
"I call it The Brent Effect," he said, making me laugh.
"See you did it again. What do you like about me?"
"I love that you always help people whether you like it or not. You're so kind. My turn; what's your favorite Disney movie?"
"Beauty and the Beast. Belle is also my favorite Disney princess."
That is how it went for an hour; each of us asking questions while we ate the food. I learned a lot about Brent like the way he loves potatoes but desipes sweet potatoes.
The sun was down now, and the stars were shining brightly. It was 6 something and I knew we would have to leave soon, much to my dismay.
"Last question," I said, while Brent was eating some grapes.
"Okay. Shoot."
"Why is your letterman special? You said that you would tell me after football season was over or it would be bad luck," I asked.
He ran a hand through his hair. "Well it's kinda cheesy."
"I don't care. Spill," I told him, crossing my legs like a four year old.
"It's special because it had a very special girl wearing it. You are my good luck charm. Cheesy, right?" he asked with a sly smile.
I shook my head,"No. I think it's very sweet."
"Well, I try princess."
"Crap. I have to be home at 7, and it's 6:20," I said, looking at my phone.
"We can always come back," he said, standing up from the ground.
"We can?!" I asked in excitement.
He nodded,"Any day of the week. Come on help me with the blanket."
I nodded, standing up to help him. It took us twenty minutes to clean up and make it back to the car. I climbed in the passenger seat while he sat in the driver seat.
Then we drove away from the beautiful field. I wanted to come back here tomorrow, but this week is exams before Christmas break.
I laid back in my seat, thinking about today. Who knew that I would be sitting next to the most popular guy in school?
He parked his car in the driveway fifteen minutes later, but I didn't make a move to get out.
"Thank you for tonight, Brent. I had fun," I told him.
"You are very welcome. We should do it again soon," he said, and I nodded.
"I would love too."
He kept looking at my eyes then at my lips. I knew what he was thinking about. Whether or not to kiss me. Then he decided.
He closed the gap between us and his lips met mine. The fireworks returned, but they were going crazy tonight. I kissed him back.
When we both needed air, we broke apart. Like his, my lips were swollen.
"Goodnight, Campbell," Brent said, giving me a smile.
"Night, Brent," I replied, grabbing my bag before exiting the car.
He waited until I was in the house to leave. All the lights were on in the house, and I could hear the boys yelling at the tv.
I walked upstairs to Lisa and Ross's room, and I knocked on it. Lisa opened the door, and smiled when she saw it was me.
She dragged me into the bedroom, and we sat on the bed and talked for I don't know how long.
I can't imagine how the girls are going to react.
But at that moment I had one thing on my mind. Brent Mason.

The Male Lead’s Fake Sister
“Say hello, Ravia. He’s going to be your brother.”
8 401The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
