《Foster Brothers | COMPLETED》Ch. 9 - His Letterman Jacket

Today is the last day before Thanksgiving break. The boys and I were driving to school, and we were talking about a movie we seen last night.

My phone beeped, and I turned it on. It was a message from Brent. Yes, I gave him my number yesterday.

I have a question to ask you.

I frowned, and I texted back.

Okay. Shoot.

Well, I want to ask you in person. He texted back.

I smiled at his response.

Okay, the boys and I are almost at the school.

Alright, I'll be waiting by my car.

Okay.

I put my phone in my bag, and I played with the ends of my hair.

"Campbell, can you drive?" Gaberial asked me.

"I can, why?" I asked him.

"Elliot drives like an elderly man," Gavin chimed in.

Elliot rolled his eyes. "Well, at least I won't get pulled over. I'm doing the speed limit."

"But, if you want a little faster we would be at the school," Gaberial complained.

"Why are you so eager to get to school? You usually sleep on the way there," Nick asked.

"Nothing. Maybe I care about school now," he said, quickly.

"That's never going to happen," Gavin told his twin.

"Look, we're here," he said, and Elliot parked his truck.

"Okay, but this is not over," Elliot told his brother.

"Yep," Gaberial said, walking fast to the stairs.

"I'm going to find Anna," Elliot said before walking away.

"Hey, guys," Brent said, walking up to us.

"Hey, Brent," Nick said, and they high-fived each other.

"Ready for the game tonight?" Brent asked.

"Yeah. I'm going to go talk to coach, but I'll see you guys in homeroom," Nick said, walking away.

I looked at Brent with a shy smile.

"So, what's your question?" I asked him.

"I was wondering if you would like to wear my letterman jacket tonight? It's a tradition when we have an away game. The girls are going to be wearing theirs," he explained.

I was shocked. He was asking me to wear his letterman jacket.

"You don't have to if you-.." He started, but I cut him off.

"Yes. I'll wear it," I said with a smile.

He smiled back. "Really?"

I nodded,"Yes."

"You won't be disappointed. My jacket is the finest in the whole world. One of a kind," he said, looking at me.

"Huh. Here, I thought the whole football team has a letterman jacket just like yours," I played along.

"Nah. Mine is special," he said, waving it off.

We started to walk to the stairs.

"Why is it special?" I asked him.

"That's a secret," he told me, and I faked gasped.

"I need to know. I'm going to figure it out," I whined.

"Good luck with that."

I gasped, and he laughed at my reaction.

"Brent!" Clary came running up to us.

"Hey, Clary," Brent said, his smile gone.

"So, I'm having a party at my house after the game. You in?" She asked him.

"No," he replied.

"Why not? If you don't have ride, I can come and get you," she offered.

"I have plans," he told her.

"With her?" Clary asked, looking at me with her arms across her chest.

"Yes."

I looked at Brent, and he put an arm around my shoulders. I didn't flinch, but it took me by surprise.

"Well, when you know what's good for you, I'll be here," she said before walking away.

I noticed that Brent's arm was still around me. I could feel my cheeks turn red.

This boy made me blush twice now.

"She doesn't get it, does she?" He asked me.

"Nope. Good job on the lie, by the way," I told him.

"I didn't lie. I was thinking that we could watch a movie at my house. Vanessa will be there, but she will be out by nine," he said.

I smiled,"That sounds amazing."

"Great. Come on, the bell is about to ring," he said, and we started to walk together.

We walked to our homeroom class, and he took his arm off of my shoulder. The warmth was gone, and I felt cold.

What is going on?

Nichole pulled me down to my seat, and she had a big smile on her face.

"What?" I asked her.

"What? Girl, you had Brent's arm around you," she whispered.

"So?" I whispered back.

She placed her hand on her forehead and shook her head.

"He likes you, duh," she said, nodding her head in Brent's direction.

"I have only been here for a week. I really don't think you can like a person in a week," I told her.

"It's called love at first sight," she said.

"Believe me, we're just friends," I told her.

"Mmh, right," she said, and our teacher wrote something on the board.

What I said was true. Brent and I are just friends. Nothing more.

"He what?!" Madison shrieked, and Nichole covered her mouth with her hand.

"Shhh! Do you want the boys to hear you?" Nichole asked, quietly.

It was after school, and we were at the Cade house.

"He must like you," Anna told me.

"Why do you say that?" I asked her.

She took a deep breath. "Brent never had a girlfriend. He never has taken an interest in a girl."

"When we asked him why he hasn't got a girlfriend, he said that he didn't have the time," Madison added.

"That's weird because he invited me to his house tonight," I told the girls.

"What?!" They screamed.

"What happened?!" Lisa asked, running in the room.

"Nothing. Sorry if we scared you," I apologized.

She placed a hand over her heart.

"You girls almost made me have a heart attack. I thought something happened," she said.

"Sorry, Lisa," we said together.

"It's alright. Now, what's with the screaming?" She asked us with an eyebrow raised.

"Nothing. Just some high school drama," Madison lied.

"Okay, well, the boys will be leaving in thirty minutes," she told us before she left.

"How long is the drive to the other school?" I asked Anna.

"Fourty minutes. The games starts at seven, so we have about two hours to get ready," she answered.

"I need to find an outfit. I'm going to my house, but I'll be back in a flash," Madison said, getting up from the floor.

"I'll go with her to make sure she doesn't change outfits a hundred times," Nichole said.

"Okay," Anna and I said together.

Nichole and Madison left, and I got up from the floor.

"Do you need something to wear?" I asked her.

"No, I brought clothes. I'm going to go change into them," she said, grabbing her bag.

I walked into my closet to try and find an outfit. I grabbed a pink shirt with a rose on it, and it was knotted up at the bottom. Then I grabbed some ripped blue jeans, and my white converse.

Once I changed, I pulled my hair into a braid. Anna came out wearing a blue shirt, black tights, and black converse.

"Can I borrow a hair tie? I must have left mine at home," she asked, and I nodded.

A couple minutes later, somebody knocked on my door.

"Come in," I said, looking through my bracelets.

"Hey, babe," Elliot said, and kissed Anna on the cheek.

"Hi," she replied with a bright smile.

Brent came in the room, and he had his jacket in his hands.

"Is that your special, one of kind jacket?" I asked him.

He grinned,"You bet it is."

He handed me his jacket. I looked at the design, and the numbers on it.

"Are you going to tell me what makes it so special?" I asked him.

"Maybe," he said, shrugging.

"I'll take that answer," I replied, putting the jacket on.

He helped me put it on, and I looked at myself in the mirror. The jacket was a little bit big on me since I'm tiny, but it works.

"You look amazing," he said.

"Why, thank you," I said, and I heard an 'aw'.

I totally forgot that Anna and Elliot were in the room. They were both watching us with smiles on their faces.

"Are you guys okay?" Brent asked.

They nodded, and Anna said,"Pretend like we're not here. Carry on."

I giggled, and Brent looked at me with a curious look in his eyes.

Tonight is going to be fun.
