Jungkook and I slowly look around the highway, guns in our hands. I could feel my palms sweating and my anxiety increasing. Jungkook walks close, almost in front of me. His eyes are sharp and focused, taking in all our surroundings. The highway is empty, with only our car pulled over on the right. I watch the left side closely while Jungkook watches the right.

All of a sudden, Jungkook pulls me back, pointing a gun at something. He grabs me with his left arm, pulling me behind his back. His jaw is clenched as he stares at something in the middle of the road.

I slowly get out from behind him, and my heart begins to pound when I see the same type of creature that we saw in the store, except bigger. It was an older man this time, but the black eyes and the teeth were the same. He held Bruno in his arms. "Jungkook- B-Bruno-"

He grits his teeth, "I know, Y/N, I know!!" I could see Bruno's lifeless body, almost as if he was dead. I started to panic, but upon seeing his chest rise up and down, relief washes over me. "I think he's still sleeping," I whisper into Jungkook's ear.

He nods, eyeing the man. Jungkook takes a step closer to him, gun glued to his palm. "Look, I don't know if you understand me, but I'm gonna need you to let the dog go."

The man's mouth suddenly stretches into a creepy smile, his teeth sticking out. He looked mortifying. I grab Jungkook's arm, "Last time, when you shot it in the chest it didn't fall. But when Bruno cut its head off, it immediately died. I think you should go for the head, Jeon." Jungkook nods, pointing the gun at the man's head.

The man immediately opens his mouth wide and lifts his face up. As I realise what he's about to do, I shout, "Now, Jungkook!!!" And Jungkook immediately fires three bullets, all hitting him straight in the head. The man's body goes limp and he drops backwards, Bruno still in his arms.

I waste no time in running out from behind Jungkook and over to the lifeless body on the road, Jungkook following close behind me. I drop down and pry the man's arms off of Bruno, lifting him up. I stand up, running to the car with Jungkook. He opens the back seat and I lay Bruno down, examining his body. I see a tiny needle in his back, and immediately pull it out, "He was drugged. No wonder he didn't wake up," I mumble.

I noticed some liquid still left in the syringe, so I grab one of the caps that had been taken off a plastic bottle. I squirt the liquid into it, examining it closely. Jungkook watches me with a glint of curiosity in his eyes. I smell it, immediately scrunching my nose up, "Alcohol." I say.

Jungkook furrows his eyebrows, "Why would he inject alcohol? That doesn't make sense,"

I shake my head, "It's not just alcohol, it's something mixed into it." I carefully put a little bit of it on my finger and lick it. I make sure to not put too much. I nod when I taste salt, as an indicator that my theory was true, "GHB. Commonly known as a 'rape' or 'club drug'. It makes people fall asleep and not remember anything that happened to them."

Jungkook widens his eyes, "How do you know all that?"

I throw the cap outside the car, making sure the liquid falls out. I take the plunger out of the syringe and examine the inside of the barrel to get an idea of how much was injected into Bruno, "I'm a doctor."

Jungkook widens his eyes further, "What?! How come you never told me that?"

I shrug, sticking my finger in side the barrel and spinning it around, "Almost 85% of it is dry, so that means he didn't inject too much. Bruno should be up in twenty minutes or so." I then proceed to throw everything away.

I watch as Jungkook stares at me in awe. I smile at him, "I never told you because you never asked."

Jugnkook rolls his eyes, "We're on a mission together, the least you could have told me about was you being a fucking doctor."

I scrunch my nose up, shutting the back door, "Get in the car, I'm driving this time."

He nods, climbing into the passenger seat while I get into the driver's seat.

"So let's review all we know about these things," Jungkook speaks. I nod, and he continues. "Their eyes are all black, and they can only be killed if we aim for the head."

"Also don't forget those sharp teeth which it was about to eat Bruno with," I say, shuddering at the thought of what would have happened to Bruno if Jungkook hadn't fired at the time he did.

Jungkook taps his chin, "How did he get Bruno out of the car?"

I bite my lip, "I remember locking the doors, it's impossible for it to have opened it from the outside." Jungkook looks at me, "What if it was opened from the inside?" I scrunch my nose in confusion. Jungkook sets his hands on his lap and continues. "Hear me out; what if Bruno opened the door? Maybe to get out and go pee or something."

I shake my head. "He wouldn't have been able to unlock the door, he's literally a dog. He would've woken one of us up."

Jungkook shakes his head, "This is the same talking dog that took the caps off of the bottles with his paws and shot lasers at a creepy creature with black eyes. I think we can expect anything from him at this point."

I purse my lips, "But when we asked him about the water bottles, he claimed he didn't remember."

Jungkook nods, "Yeah, key word; claimed. He claimed he didn't know, when he actually did. My best guess is he's one of those creatures, and unlocked the car door so that his friend could attack us. But we woke up too soon, and Bruno pretended to be taken hostage so that we wouldn't suspect him of anything. Im telling you, Y/N, this dog is the whole cause of our problems."

I shake my head, "About the water bottles, maybe he just sleepwalked or something. I don't think we should get suspicious of him that soon."

Jungkook shakes his head, "Thats what he wants you to think."

I huff out a breath of air, lifting my arm up to check the time. 12 pm, we're almost there.

I lean my head back, mentally preparing myself to see my mother's bungalow.
