《QUIRKY! (MHA x Reader)》S2 Part 25 - Fight or Flight

"Uhhhhhhhhhh..."
Hawks. Hawks is here. He's two feet away from me. The number three hero.
Wow, he's hot...
He wasn't in his usual hero garb. Instead he wore a gray shirt, jeans, and a blue jacket with a popped collar. He was eye-candy before but this was a different level.
No, I do not keep the magazines with articles of you under my bed. I also do not read fan fictions of you... ever.
Oh gods, I'm sweating. Can he tell? He's still looking at me. I haven't said a word! I'm dying!
"You okay, kid?" His voice was even more heavenly in person than on T.V., "What's your name?"
... oh gods! What is my name?!
"(Y/... I mean, Temptress..?" you said, obviously not feeling as confident about it right now.
Hawks paused. His yellow eyes with oddly shaped pupils widened. Suddenly, he laughed. If you weren't totally mortified you would be swooning like the fan girl you were.
"I'm sorry," he chuckled, "I don't mean to be rude! It's not that you don't look the part - you absolutely do. Damn." His sharp eyes traveled you up and down, "It's just that you seem a little too sweet! But maybe I'm wrong?"
He got a little closer as people passed behind him. A lot of the women at the bar were watching you and him closely.
"I hope I'm wrong," Hawks added with a wink.
Oh dear.
As dreamy as he was, this could actually be terrible for you right now. You were supposed to be here as a villain.
"I'm Hawks," he was close enough now that you could smell his cologne, "Maybe you've heard of me."
"Yeah, of course," you cleared your throat, "Who wouldn't know the number three hero?"
The man didn't seem to blink - ever! He just studied your face while he casually flicked his toothpick with his tongue, "You seem pretty young, Temptress, and I'm usually good at keeping an eye out for new recruits. Where did you come from?"
"... I'm new in town?"
Hawks mulled, "New, huh? But you know who I am - I'm flattered! Where did you graduate from?"
"I..."
Should you just sell yourself out right now? You were terrible at acting, especially around this angelic being who kept smiling at you like he already knew your dirty secret.
No... Dabi wasn't done talking to the broker. You still had no info bringing you closer to Shinso. But maybe you could explain the situation to Hawks? He was a pro hero, right?
Hawks's smile lessened, as if sensing your distress. It probably didn't help that you kept looking around for Twice.
Or, you thought, Hawks could blow it and try to rescue you. You had a moment of weakness when you spotted Monarch. You craved security but it wasn't just your life or even Shinso's life relying on you right now.
It was Bakugo's too.
"I transferred from the states, actually," you said, drowning in your conflict.
"No shit? Tell me more," he smirked, "I'm intrigued."
"There's not much to tell," you tried looking invested in the conversation while also keeping an eye out for Twice or Dabi.
"Oh, I doubt that," Hawks dropped his toothpick into his empty glass, "Come sit with me? I'll buy you a drink."
Your mind was racing, unsure of what to do. Play it cool? Or run away? "I don't think-"
"Don't be shy!" He said, "But it is cute. Come on, what are you having? What's your poison?"

Shit. You have never ordered alcohol before - what was with all the fancy names?
"Whatever you usually get?" You suggested.
"You sure?" Hawks raised a brow, "Alright? You got it."
As soon as he approached the bar a few seats opened. You expected more people to fawn over him, but this scene it might be the opposite. He pat the seat next to him, but you hesitated. Where the crap did Twice go?!
"Sit, please," he said.
"You're a pushy one," you tried to relax by adding a giggle. You took your seat and rest your elbows on the sticky counter.
"I'm just kinda selfish and like getting my way."
"Wow. Honest, too."
Your drink arrived and you stared at it like it was some foreign object. In a way, it was. Hawks had his own drink to worry about now, but he still watched you intently.
It's just a drink, how bad can it be?
You smelled it before it touched your lips, and almost gagged. But drinking it was so much worse.
"... it burns," you coughed, "Oh, this is liquid hellfire."
Hawks chuckled, "Too strong for you?"
"Why does it taste like, like..." you snapped your fingers together.
"Piss?"
"Piss and gasoline!"
That got him to laugh, "Okay, so you aren't a big drinker. That's another thing about you. How about... what brings you to a place like this tonight?"
You shrugged, eyes watering a bit, "Just hangin'."
"Nobody just 'hangs' here."
"Then what are you doing here?"
Hawks beamed, "Curious about me? Well, would you believe me if I said I was looking for someone? Or multiple someones."
"Oh," you gulped, "Like, hero work and all that?"
"Hero work and all that," he repeated, "Did you know three kids from UA were kidnapped recently? Crazy."
You fidgeted in your seat, "I did hear something like that..."
When you didn't take the bait, Hawks switched tactics, "I'm dying to know. What is your quirk? You're dressed to kill so I'm predicting it's pretty deadly."
You giggled again. Strange, it wasn't that funny... Nerves, perhaps?
"You really want to know," you asked.
He leaned in close as if you two were about to share a secret, "I'm dying to know."
"Hmph," you turned away, feeling cheeky, "Maybe I should make you sweat a little."
"Oh, I see!" he looked beyond pleased you loosened up, "Your quirk is playing hard to get and driving assholes like me crazy."
"Is it working?"
"Yep."
"Then it is my quirk," you took another sip from your drink but it was just as nasty, "Ugh, I can't. Sorry you wasted your money."
"It's okay, I half excepted you to hate it. I would've been very impressed if you downed that."
You smacked your lips together, "I can't believe this is what you get, it's fowl."
"Oh, it's not. I just picked one of the scariest drinks they have."
"What!" You gasped, "Are you trying to kill me?"
Hawks smiled sweetly, "Nooo. But now I know you are too naive and far too trusting for a place like this."
This guy... It was like he could read your mind. He was already onto you, probably since you first arrived.
"Not that you need advice from a stranger," he said, "But I suggest going somewhere else if you just want to 'hang'."
He paused for a second before adding, "Like, my place."

You were grateful that the lighting in this place was so terrible and one of the main hues was red, otherwise your tomato face would have alerted everyone.
"I have a feeling I wouldn't be any safer there..." you squeaked.
He chuckled, "I guess that depends what kind of trouble you enjoy." His one wing that wasn't trapped against the table had snuck its way forward and brushed your leg.
"I-I don't want any trouble," you partially lied, and scoot your chair away. Apparently Hawks found that amusing and slowly dragged his chair closer in pursuit.
Damn. Usually, you were the one making everyone flustered. Is this what Shinso felt like, or Bakugo, when you used your quirk? You knew you had a mission and needed to return your focus to that, but a tiny, selfish part of you wanted to test your quirk out on Hawks...
"So, this has been fun!" You stood abruptly, "I should probably go, though."
But you couldn't move. Your skirt cape was stuck to the chair - very stuck. Pierced into the leather cushion with a sharp, brilliant red feather to be exact.
"You walked in with a pretty dangerous crowd, Temptress," Hawks was still smiling but his eyes grew a little more serious, "So dangerous, in fact, they've formed a little league. Oh, what's their name... The League of Villains?"
You swallowed. He recognized Twice and Dabi then. Of course, descriptions of your captors would've been released soon after you and Bakugo were kidnapped.
Man, you sucked at being a villain... You were caught in less than a half hour!
"Hawks..." you pleaded. How could you explain this?
"Hey," he cooed, "Don't look so scared. It's pretty obvious what's going on here."
"I promise it isn't," you insisted.
He stood up as well. His red wings hugged at his sides like a shield, "Let's get you out of here, and then we can talk."
"Wait!" you panicked. What could you do without hurting him? You wanted to tell him everything but he couldn't take you away! Dabi would be pissed and they'd leave Shinso for dead.
And by "dead" you knew that meant tortured and chopped up!
But it was Hawks's job to turn you in. It would be strange for the number three hero to turn a blind eye to this situation, but you had to try.
"P-please hear me out?"
"Of course! Just not here," Hawks still seemed warm and inviting, but you could tell he wasn't going to budge. If you learned anything from the man it was that he was determined, almost annoyingly so.
You did have one trick to try. Hopefully, pheromones worked on the truly stubborn.
Hawks picked up on it right away. It was kind of incredible. You could tell by the way his eyes shifted and his body tensed. It looked like he was expecting an attack, but when you didn't do anything he smirked, "So, this is your quirk? You know it's naughty to use quirks on a pro hero."
His voice was getting tired. He bit his bottom lip and you admired the bit of stubble on his chin.
"My two cents, this isn't your best idea," he grunted. His eyelids drooped, and he looked hungry, "Isn't the point to get away from me? This will do the opposite."
"I'm sorry," you felt for the feather pinning you to your chair and yanked it out, "I can't go with you yet."
He was fighting the pheromones with great effort, "Hmm, I don't like being told no, kid. It just makes me want it more."
"Then hear me out or be disappointed!" you snapped.
"Ooo," he chuckled, "Alright, firecracker. You got two seconds."
Before you could utter a word, that could potentially save all your asses, you were rudely interrupted. A roughly textured hand grazed your side and yanked you away.
"There you are."
When you looked up, you made eye contact with Dabi. He pulled you into him with his fingers pressing hard into your ribs. You could tell by the fire burning in his irises that you were as good as dead.
"I've been looking for you," his tone was dark and made you want to hide away and die, "We're leaving."
"So soon?" Hawks lifted his eyes from your face to challenge Dabi's.
"Got a problem with that, hero."
Dabi's hand slid across your stomach and his fingers stretched out wide, trying to cover as much of your mid section as possible. Hawks's eyes narrowed, and you realized what fun situation you were in now.
You went from captive, to teammate, to hostage...
Hawks watched you both silently, before breaking a smile, like normal, "I didn't realize she was spoken for. My bad, man."
Dabi scoffed, "She likes to stir trouble."
Hawks finished his second drink, and you watched in awe, wondering how badly that one burned. When he was done, he gave you both the peace sign and walked away, "I'll let you get going then. Later, Temptress."
Like hell he's letting us go!
"Dabi," you said cautiously.
"Shut it. We're leaving."
He dragged you by your elbow through the crowd. Twice popped up behind you guys, nudging some random lady in a cocktail dress while pulling another red feather out of his suit, "Well, this sucks. "
"You had one job," Dabi said.
"I didn't expect Hawks to be here!" Twice cried.
"Wait!" You tried getting Dabi's attention but he was laser-focused, "Did we even get what we came here for?"
"Yeah, Dabi? "
"Call Kurogiri," Dabi told Twice, "Tell him to make an opening in the alley."
Well, you were being ignored. You looked back at the now empty booths and tables where you say Monarch and the bird-mask man. They were long gone, and your heart sank a little.
Hawks was probably your best bet in alerting the heroes and you failed. You were kicking yourself, mentally, but once you found Shinso, you wouldn't let the opportunity slip away again.
Shinso could already be dead... letting the heroes "legally" find him will take too long.
Dabi dragged you all the way outside without another word. He practically carried you up the steps. Twice was on his cell getting ready to call your ride, but unfortunately, you weren't the only fools in the alley tonight.
A black van blocked the way out, and a peculiar, scrawny looking figure sat atop of it. Perched, kind of like a bird was a young man with black hair. He wore a black hoodie with brown fur lining the hood. The glint of a switchblade caught your eye, as he flicked it in his hand.
"What's the deal, Dabi?" He asked once you three were in sight, "I thought you wanted to work together."
His tone was far too cheerful for the mischievous aura he exuded.
"Change of plans," Dabi said.
"Who is he?" You whispered.
The new guy leapt from the car and landed gingerly on his feet. As he did so, some much larger men appeared from behind the van.
What, are we in a gang fight or something?!
"Hey, cutie," fur coat said, "My name is Izaya Orihara. Your mean friend here was looking for some information but didn't want to pay out - how sad."
"What?" You looked up at Dabi accusingly, "I thought that was the whole point!"
"He wanted you, idiot," he hissed, not loud enough for everyone else to hear.
"... what?"
"- the hell?" Twice finished for you.
Izaya shrugged, "You wanted the location of one of my biggest clients and in exchange I just wanted to see the Butcher's kid! Everyone knows the League recently acquired her."
Dabi lit one side of his body. You wriggled out of his grasp, not able to take the heat. "I said no deal," Dabi's voice was ice cold.
Izaya sneered, he had crimson eyes similar to Bakugo's or even Shigaraki, "Can't I change your mind? Without things getting a little - violent?"
"What could you possibly want her for?" You asked, pretending they weren't talking about you.
Izaya hummed and tilted his head to the side, "She's one of the most expensive items on the market right now. I would be stupid not to get in on that."
You suddenly realized exactly what kind of people you were dealing with. If Valentini was his biggest client and he was acting like you were an object to sell...
He's trafficking people.
Suddenly, his "innocent" little smile made your stomach tighten. Izaya supplied Valentini with his victims?
"And!" Izaya beamed, "I have this crazy feeling Shigaraki was all too eager to play with his new toy. I'm willing to bet, she's among us... right now."
Your heart fell out of your butt. This night kept getting better and better. You grabbed the corner of Dabi's jacket. The only way to get energy would be from Izaya and his boys, but you didn't want to get anywhere near him.
"Twice..." Dabi growled.
"I'm trying man! Service sucks here," Twice frantically tapped his phone, ""
"If you insist."
A wall of blue flames reached the sky. You backpedaled with Twice and protected your face with your arms. Being trapped in an alley made it feel like a brick oven!
When you opened your eyes again, you could hear the cries in pain and panic. Well, you were expecting to have to fight at some point tonight. At least you wouldn't feel guilty about hurting these creeps.
Through the rays of bright blue, you spotted a small - and miraculously unharmed - red feather descending softly, like a snowflake.
