《QUIRKY! (MHA x Reader)》Part 8 - Practice Makes Perfect

Ice cream with your aunt and Todoroki...
You couldn't say it was the worst outing ever, but the dynamic was certainly odd. Quiet Todoroki and your flamboyant aunt, and then you trying to be in-between. You were surprised that Todoroki actually engaged in conversation. His calmness was comforting in a way - usually, you had to handle your aunt on your own.
He rarely talked about himself, even when you or Midnight asked about him, but you did take note that he enjoyed ice cream. There was a light in his cool eyes while he enjoyed his sugary treat. It was kind of... adorable?
When you finished, Midnight went ahead to the car and you stayed behind with Todoroki.
"Are you sure you don't want a ride home?" you asked, "You were the one who said we shouldn't be out alone at night."
He grinned, "Hm. You're right. Okay, if it's not too much trouble."
"Not at all!"
Relieved that he agreed, you drove across town and dropped him off. Wow, this was where the Todoroki's lived - where Endeavor lived! It was a handsome home, but even with its size and beauty, something felt empty about it.
"Goodnight, sweety!" Midnight waved from the car window. You groaned, wishing Midnight had some kind of filter.
"(Y/N)?" Todoroki was next to you in the backseat, "Could you walk with me?"
"O-Oh, sure!"
You walked him to his front door, waiting to see what he wanted to say. For some reason, you felt nervous. He stopped and turned to face you. The moonlight cast a white light and dark shadow across his face.
He is attractive, isn't he?
"(Y/N)," he said, "Thank you for letting me join you and Midnight tonight. Is she...?"
"My aunt."
"Your aunt. Interesting," he seemed to mull that over, "Is she your guardian?"
"Yeah. My parents... aren't in the picture. Haven't been for a very long time."
"I'm sorry."
You waved your hands, "It's okay! I was so young when it happened."
Todoroki seemed to hesitate about something. His eyes and smile were warm. He opened his mouth as if to say something but stopped himself. You were shocked when he reached out to rub your arm and kept his hand there.
"I-" he seemed to get lost in your eyes for a second, "I'll see you at school."
You were confused, but nodded, "Yeah, of course. Goodnight, Todoroki."
"Goodnight."
When you returned to the car, you slowly sat into the passenger seat, still in a daze. Your aunt was practically wiggling, "Was there a confession?!"
"Nemuri!!"
The next day, you woke bright and early for the first day of your training with Aizawa. You rolled out of bed and put on your tank top and sweat pants. The mornings were gorgeous, but you rarely got to see the sunrise. By choice - you loved to sleep.

You were surprised your teacher wanted to be up this early, considering he slept through most of his own class. You arrived at the gym where he'd instructed you to go, only to be met with an angry blond preparing a death glare for you.
"Bakugo?" you asked wearily, "You're here too?"
"What of it?" he glowered.
You raised your brows, not prepared to deal with his shit this early, "Nothin..."
"Hmph," he turned and away and began stretching his legs, "Aizawa asked for my help with teaching your lame-ass something useful."
"He did?"
"Yeah, because without your stupid quirk you're a weakling."
True.
"You didn't overpower me yesterday," you said.
He flinched. You could almost see the fire burning around his head, "The hell did you say?"
You yawned, "You keep saying I'm weak, but if I remember correctly, you lost."
You heard him chuckle, but there was nothing humorous about it. "You want to die, hot lips?"
"Is that supposed to be a comeback?!"
He turned on his heel, but instead of angry-charging towards you with fire in his hands, he took his time. His controlled anger was somehow more frightening than his outbursts. You gulped loudly, and shifted your eyes around, hoping to see Aizawa.
"What are you doing?" you tried to keep your voice steady.
His red eyes bore into yours. You staggered back until you hit a wall. Dammit! Seriously! This was a cliche in the worst way!
"W-Where is Aizawa..?" you couldn't hide your worry any longer.
"Not here," he grunted.
His hand came in contact with the wall behind you and he let off a small explosive. You were beyond nervous now, but you refused to be bullied by this large child! You glared back at him, even with only a few inches separating your faces.
"You won't intimidate me, Bakugo," you said.
"No?" he grinned, his eyes trailed down towards your lips and then your neck, observing your breathing, "You look pretty scared to me."
You went to shove him, but he quickly caught your hands. He trapped them against his chest, so you could feel his defined muscle build. Instantly, your fingers tingled, wanting to take the energy he radiated.
"Knock it off," but your voice lost its fire.
"You're no match for me without your quirk," he muttered, "What are you going to do about it?"
You couldn't deny that you desperately wanted to feel beneath his shirt. You could tell his skin would be hot to the touch, like fueling directly from the sun. His eyelids were lowering, revealing a look you weren't used to from him.
He could feel your pulse from your wrists. What is happening?! You couldn't slow your beating heart. Were you affecting him as well? He looked so calm now - as calm as Bakugo ever could that is. His grip on your hands softened and he leaned in to further close the space.

You wanted to be angry. You wanted to punch him for what he said. You wanted to kick his ass to prove him wrong.
But your quirk was getting in the way.
Take it. He's right in front of you.
You're so close...
"Bakugo..." you said.
"Katsuki."
Stop him.
Your noses touched first, sending a spark of panic through you. Then, his scorching lips met yours. It felt like kissing after drinking hot tea. You wanted to be scared, or disgusted even. How did this even happen? Your mind was racing, but it slowly dulled into white noise, especially after his rough hand cupped the back of your head.
His fingers pulled a bit on your hair, making you hug him closer in response. His bare arms were literal fire. You could cook an egg on this guy! His lips massaged yours, slowly and then aggressively. His tongue was about to force its way inside when the sound of footsteps shook you both from your trance.
The heat disappeared, and your eyes shot open. He seemed just as alarmed, and neither of you knew what to do.
So, you punched him in the gut.
Now that you had strength, your hit sent him flying back until he landed in the middle of the gym. He growled and immediately sprung back up. "The hell was that?!"
He shook himself off as if trying to get rid of the rest of the seductive spell you both were in, "You punch like a girl."
"Then you won't mind some more," you glowered and took your fighting stance.
He grinned, and those merciless eyes returned.
After only a half-hour, you were both breathing heavily. You had strength left to keep up with him, but even with that, his attacks were quicker than yours. More calculated. He wasn't even using his quirk anymore, just catching your kicks and punches and landing you on your back.
"You left yourself open again!" Bakugo seethed, "If you're going to be slow then be smart at least."
You were able to land a few hits after that, which kept the two of you even. It felt good to see him surprised by you. Maybe you could take him in a real fight - one day. The energy you took from him was noticeably different...
You enjoyed it a little too much.
"Hey, space cadet!"
He pinned you to the floor mat, his breath hitting your face. You didn't fight him off this time.
"You give up?" he sneered, "I would if I were you."
"No!" you snapped.
Suddenly, the door to the gymnasium opened. You gasped, hoping Bakugo would get off of you before anyone saw, but he stayed. A wicked grin appeared on his lips as he noticed your discomfort, and he tightened his grip on your wrists.
This bastard!
"Students," Aizawa spoke lazily, "Glad to see you're so energized in the morning. I'm sorry I was late... I slept in."
THIS bastard!!
You huffed from under beneath the blond gorilla still on top of you, "Get off!" you hissed. Since he was being obnoxious, you focused on taking as much of his energy through his hands as possible.
"Hey." A new voice made your heart stop.
Your purple-haired friend with sleepy eyes towered over you and Bakugo. You gazed up at him in shock. Of course, he would show up right at this moment.
"S-Shinso!" you squeaked.
"Yeah," he said in his usual dry voice, "You've looked better, (Y/N). Maybe we need to remove this shag carpet from suffocating you."
Bakugo leaped off you faster than you could blink, "Oh yeah? WHO THE HELL INVITED YOU?"
"He did," Shinso didn't cater to Bakugo's tantrum, and pointed to your teacher, "You're not the only ones getting extra training."
"Ha! I'm only here to help this loser."
"So, more training is beneath you?" Shinso asked.
Before Bakugo could answer, you swept a leg under him, sending him face-first into the mat. You could see that mischievous look in Shinso's eye. You shook your head in hopes that he got the hint.
"Aw," he clicked his tongue, "No fun."
He extended a hand to you and lifted you off the floor. He held you close to his chest, not even slightly concerned with how it looked in front of Bakugo or Aizawa.
"That's better," Shinso chuckled.
Bakugo grumbled some harsh profanities before getting himself up. Luckily, Aizawa interrupted before he flipped his lid.
"Looks like you got some sparring done," he said, "Now, we're going to do some conditioning."
His eyes laser-focused on you, and you instantly felt all the energy you had evaporate. He sighed, "For our training, I want you to focus on making your body stronger and polishing your moves. I have a hunch that the more natural ability you have the easier it will be to retain the power you absorb. So you won't need to replenish quite as often."
You blushed and felt Shinso's chest vibrating against you. He was laughing silently, "What a shame," he whispered into your ear, sending chills down your arms.

8 178The Blood Queen
The rain fell from the sky with ferocity and smashed into the pavement filling the air with the sound of a stampede. The noise was deafening as I struggled to stand up. The blood from my wound was covering the ground beneath me and I covered it with my hand as I pushed off the pavement. On my feet now I struggled to step towards the grass. Through the howling wind and pounding raindrops I could hear what sounded like a chant, calling me and drawing me towards the cliffs edge. "Vienna, my Queen, my blood Queen" I started to move my feet faster until I could run towards the edge. Only when I was at the edge did I turn and look back one last time at the castle behind me. I could see him standing on the balcony, he was screaming my name. I could just hear it over the rain. I unclipped my red cape and whispered goodbye to him. As he jumped off the balcony to run towards me I leaned backwards and let my body fall with the rushing water to the river far down below. I carried her whispers with me to the dark edge until they vanished.
