When Peter was a kid at the orphanage he never had a true birthday. Yeah, he was wished a happy birthday but he never got gifts or a cake. So when he got adopted by the Avengers he never mentioned his birthday, considering it never really meant much to him.
So when he got up on Saturday morning and saw that everything was normal, he just went along with getting ready for the day. He won't admit it but he did feel a slight bit of disappointment. Ever since he got adopted, he finally felt like part of the family, but maybe his birthday would never mean anything.
He went to the lounge and saw Steve drawing with Bucky on the couch, Sam and Clint playing MarioKart. Wanda was trying to show Vision how to make pancakes and Tony was slurping down his coffee, 'it's probably his 3rd by now' Peter thought with a chuckle.
He sat next to Natasha on the couch across from Steve and Bucky. "Hey Peter."
"Hey Auntie Nat."
Natasha leaned over and ruffled Peter's hair earning a playful shove from him. She shoved back and he fell backwards off the couch laughing.
"Your so silly Peter."
Throughout the day Peter tried to his his disappointment but Tony and Natasha saw right through it. Whenever he noticed someone was around he would put up a smile but they knew something was wrong.
"Hey Peter?"
"Yeah what's up Tony?"
"Is everything alright?"
"Y-yeah. I'm fine." And Peter left to his room.
Natasha looked at Tony with a puzzled look. "Okay, I know you saw that too. He hesitated, something's wrong."
"Yeah. And we're going to figure it out."

Peter remembered when he first came to the orphanage. When he was four years old, he learned that his parents weren't coming back. He didn't understand at the time but he thought that they didn't want him. He spent nights crying.

"We never wanted you"
"Why else would we leave you alone"
"No ones ever going to want you"
These thoughts clouded Peter's mind all his life. For years he had the hope of being adopted but due to his shy and nerdy nature no one ever paid much attention to him. He was bitten from a radioactive spider on one of his school field trips when he was 14 which became the start of Spider-Man. No one wanted a shy kid who was always off, they all probably thought he was doing bad things.
Then one day, he was told he was being adopted. By who or when, he didn't know but he didn't want to miss the chance of being adopted. He packed up his bag and hid his suit in the back side. When he found out it was the Avengers he didn't know whether or not to be happy. Yeah, he was being adopted but for the past few months the Avengers had been trying to capture Spider-Man for what he assumed to be a 'nice little chat' with S.H.I.E.L.D. He had been able to keep in the down low for the time being but he knew he would have to find out a way to escape the tower instead of hacking FRIDAY. He knew that Tony would notice at one point that FRIDAY would shut down for a short amount of time everyday around 9:30, which was the time Peter took to sneak out.
When he met the Avengers they welcomed him with open arms. He remembered the first thing he asked them, "why would you choose me? No one ever wants a teenager, especially me." All he got as a response was a huge hug from his new family.

"Why would you say that?
"We choose you because we liked you kid."
"Don't ever think that again, you have a family."
Peter never smiled so much.
For the next few months, he got close to his family. Most of the Avengers were like his aunts and uncles, Tony and Pepper were acting as a mom and dad and Wanda was like the big sister he never had. Wanda and him often spent nights talking about teenager stuff and how to prank the others. Other times Clint would drop from the vents to join them.
'A family'
That's all he ever needed.

Peter smiled at the memories that he had. He grabbed his suit and put it on getting ready for patrol. As he was preparing to turn off FRIDAY and open the back window to jump out, his spider-sense picked up on two people coming toward his room. He knew he didn't have enough time to change so he climbed on the ceiling and whispered "FRIDAY? Activate Spy-Spider mode" He smiled when he heard the slight bing assuring him that she activated his protocol. He made sure that if he was ever put on patrol or in a position where he had to hide his identity due to him wearing his suit she wouldn't give up his direct location.
He watched silently as Tony walked in after knocking. Wanda wasn't far behind him. "Peter? We all just wanted to know if everything was okay."
Peter watched as Wanda and Tony looked around his room and calling out for him. "FRIDAY? Where's Peter?" Tony asked.
"Peter is currently on his lab floor."
Peter watched as Tony and Wanda spoke a few words before they both left. At least Friday gave him time to get down there. He flung out the window to the lower floors and opened his lab window. He tore off his suit and grabbed his extra pair of clothes left in the cabinet. He just finished hiding his suit when Tony walked in.
"Hey Pete? There you are. What are you working on?
"Just finishing up some homework. What's up?"
"Oh. We were going to have a movie night. We wanted to know if you would join us."
"Yeah. Hold on."
Peter locked the drawer with his suit and put away his folders. He followed Tony up the elevator to the lounge floor.
"So, kid. We were wondering why you didn't tell us."
'They found out!?! But I was so careful'
"Look Tony... I-"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER!!!"
Peter looked at the lounge in surprise. There were balloons on the ceiling and a cake resting in Bucky's hand. "You-you guys did this for me?"
They all gave him a puzzled look. "Why wouldn't we Peter? We all noticed you were acting off and we thought maybe this was a day that was something troubling for you. So Tony looked it up and it was your birthday. We all felt really bad so we wanted to do something."
"I never thought anyone cared." Peter said as tears rolled down his face.
"Aww. Peter of course we care. When we adopted you, it was the best thing we've ever done."
That night, they all ate the cake and watched all the star wars movies. Peter fell asleep against Tony, "thanks dad. This was the best thing ever." And he closed his eyes finally having his first true birthday. And it couldn't have been nicer.

Live Life Homunclus
The end is not always the end. Nothing is permanent, and even death itself is merely a transition. This fact holds true for a certain young man who died quite tragically on Earth. Lucky for him, a new life was just around the corner. A world filled with magic, adventure, and oh so many dangers awaited. Everything would be perfect, if it wasn't for the fact that he reincarnated into a homunclus. An artificial life-form said to possess almost zero combat capabilities. An exemplary example of pure breed cannon fodder. Surviving in a world where dragons roam the skies and monsters stalk the lands, wasn't this a bit too unreasonable?
