You're asleep already

Yet beside you

I softly weep

For the night sky

And wonder

Whether it is the same one

People looked up at

Thousands of years ago

If they worshipped it as I do now

There are some stars

I'll never get to see

Long since gone

Our time not aligned

Did any new ones replace them

Or is the sky losing stars

One by one

Each time a small child

Full of dreams and hope

Wishes upon them

Still no other image

Will be able to bring me

Such a feeling of nostalgia

Of longing for moments

And things unexperienced

As the one when I look

At the sea and there I see

Stars reflected

Mixing with the waves' foam

Creating droplets of light scattered

Swimming with the seashells

Hidden at the bottom

Covered by the golden sand

And it is unknown but familiar

Like the freckles

On my mother's face

And I think of a loving father

Showing his son constallations

Telling tales hidden in-between

So long before us

Sitting on a cooling sand dune

No big city's lights

To dull the stars' bright shine

Just nearby green trees

Swaying in the warm night breeze

And I wish to have had

Something like that too
