Makes you regret the past events
Which put you against each other
Makes you curse destiny
Makes you curse the man
Which you both loved
Maybe still do

Singing songs full of tears and anger
All the while drowning in alcohol
Denying your feelings
And now you look at her
Truly for the first time
And see the person behind a strong front
Protected by slick and poisoned words
By nonchalant demeanor and cold attitude
So you take her hand
Pull her close
And when you feel her embrace
You swear to never let her go
To always protect her
Because even stronger than love
Can be pure friendship
Born from desperate events
