《Poems》Blacksmith's Daughter

In the middle of our town

lived a young girl

the blacksmith's daughter

with skin of pure gold

better than her father's pay

her beauty was like no other's

she lured with a pearly smile

and destroyed with her words

sharper than the weapons' blades

her hair black as the coal

that warmed the whole place

messy and untamed just like her

and her eyes held a fierce fire

hotter than the flying sparks

She was a wonder to behold

raised only by her father

she was strong and rough

but still so kind

and I loved her

since the first time I saw her

while walking the wide streets

all those years ago

But the blacksmith passed

and she got married

her smile vanished

words turned dull

hair like ash now

either tied or braided

her eyes reflect a fire no more

instead rivers flow

and every night she weeps

I mourn with her

for they took my love from me

It was over before it fully began

we can no longer hold hands

or share kisses under the night sky

only us and moon with stars

away from the village's prying eyes

she will no longer braid my hair

or wear my dresses and I hers

I can no longer hold her in my arms

and I'll never hear her laugh as it was

boisterous and full of life

because the blacksmith's daughter

is no longer mine
