《Poems》Who I am and who I'm not (only I know and I will show you)

You say stop hiding the parts

That make you beautiful

But I don't want anyone to love

A mask instead of the real me

Why should I present what I am not

Only a fool wouldn't notice

That although I own these pieces

They are not a part of me

I've learned to live like this

But it doesn't mean I want to

And if someone only likes bits of me

Then they don't really like me only the lies

That everyone is forced to see

By their ignorance of my insides

Of my dreams and hopes and soul

Of my true and pure self

Even you who are the one

Supposed to always be on my side

And support me unconditionally

Are afraid of what you'll find

Under the surface

So you try to drown me

In the sea of social standards

Bind me by their norms

And force me into playing a role

Being a doll like all the others

But I am so tired of pretending

That I am who I'm not

I just want to be who I'm supposed to

I only wish to be myself

To be happy living this life that was given to me

But I can't live a life of someone else

So stop trying to make me into a different person

Who would live this life you made up

Just because you couldn't live yours

The way you wanted unrestrained and free

I refuse to be the shadow to your own one

Obstructed from view by the fear of rejection

I want to be seen and remembered

I want the world to know who I am

I want them to speak my name

The one that I chose instead of the one I was given

Bacause I know best the person I am
