"Are you all sure that you won't be sleeping yet?" Qian Xie asked the people who were sitting on the couch and were watching the news on television. To be precise, Qian Xie was only worried about the mother and father pair as they were already aged for sleeping so late at night.

Chen Jian and Chen Lin were fighting over the midnight snack that Qian Xie also made herself.

It was already 11:50pm. 12:00am strikes the 6th month where the apocalypse started with a blackout that Qian Xie herself never knew to what places it stretched out to.

Ten years ago, it happened when she was already having her sleep. Even though sleeping, Qian Xie never turn the lights off. It was then that she discovered that there was no electricity when she woke up after noticing that the aircon was not working, and neither were the lights turned on.

"What are you thinking about?" Tian Ming Jue's hot breath reached Qian Xie's ear as he whispered. His long arms wrapped around her waist intimately as he snuck his face on the side of Qian Xie's neck.

The people immediately stopped what they were doing and watched the couple. Even Rong Qian Xie herself felt unusual. Were they this close? She never felt anything bad about it, though.

"It's nothing." She shook off her head as she broke free from Ming Jue's arms. She then sat on a couch where Ming Jue also followed suit. He then put his arm around her shoulder and also watched the news.

The people who were watching can't help but react. Mr and Mrs Chen stared at each other for a long time, but shrugged after a long silence. Chen Lin gawked at them, already screaming inside her heart. Chen Jian on the other hand faintly smiled.

He was happy for Qian Xie. He was sure that what he was feeling right now was just for the time being, a short term attachment to Qian Xie.

Bzzt! The television turned off along with the lights inside the villa!

"What happened?" Chen Lin immediately screamed. Chen Jian on her side hushed her off as they turned silent.

"Just wait for a moment, I'm sure it would turn up. Maybe some inconvenient repairing was done." Qian Xie calmly stated, leaning on Ming Jue's shoulder on her side. She slowly closed her eyes as they all waited for the electricity to start working again.

They waited, and waited. Finally, almost half an hour had passed when the lights and the television flickered on, along with the ceiling fan that also started turning.

Chen Lin exaggeratedly breathed a sigh of relief, "Finally! It was so hot I was about to have a midnight shower."

Bzzt!

'Breaking news: A blazing meteorite crashed the Rong's Laboratory the moment the blackout started.'

Bzzt! Bzzzt!

'Asking the people right now to lock all the windows and doors of your house. There are unprecedented events that happened with the blackout occuring earlier. Again, asking the people right now to lock all the entrances of your house–Aaaahhh!'

"Wait, what is that?" Chen Jian turned the volume up and walked towards the screen. On the screen, a reporter eaten by a zombie wearing a lab coat was seen. The background was in chaos as people were running here and there, some were followed by people whose mouths were dripping with blood.

There are dead bodies shown on the screen and the camera man seemed to also run with the recording on. The camera was thrown on the ground but with the full volume on, horrifying screams of people were heard.

Chen Jian was shocked speechless as his eyes widened in disbelief. Mr and Mrs Chen immediately stood up followed by the clinging Chen Lin.

With a trembling voice, Chen Lin cried out, "W-were those, were those zombies?"

Qian Xie doesn't know why, but a sudden feeling of excitement cursed through her veins.
