《Love at First Fight》Only If I Could Forget

(Y/n)'s POV

After going to the pits Thomas created a plan to get us out of the glade and told Chuck and me to gather supplies to get out of here with nothing we couldn't carry. I worried that maybe Gally wouldn't come with us, and as I headed to our shared room to gather a few items I felt sick to my stomach at the thought. Would I be able to leave him behind? I thought, but I already told Minho to make sure I would.

I love Gally more than I thought possible, but we don't belong here. I enter the room and feel my heart sink as the smell of Gally rushes to my nose, but I don't let the thoughts linger too long. I grab a bag and grab a hammer the Gally keeps in the room to fix small things and then I grab his sketchbook that he'd given me for our one year. I wanted to open it and begin reminiscing and try to forget the last 48 hours but push on as I shove it down into the bag.

I go to the runner's" hut to grab water bottles, machetes, and more to help us out in the maze and beyond. I meet up with Chuck in the kitchen "I heard about you and Gally," Chuck says softly trying not to push the subject too much. I gulp down whatever feelings are trying to fight up to the surface "I didn't want to do it," I tell him still putting items in the bag like containers of meat and vegetables. "I know, I'm proud of you I know how much you love him," he tells me putting his hand on my back.

I didn't think the small gesture would shake me so much, but I feel a tear leave my eye and shock fills Chuck's face. I always cared how I was viewed by other gladers, and they basically didn't think I was capable of weakness "Chuck, I love him so much, and I'm scared he won't follow us," I tell him letting the child I felt was my younger brother in on my deep fear. He gave me a sympathetic look that I didn't think someone so young was capable of.

"It'll be okay," he tells me and he lets me have a minute before we other whatever else we can before meeting at the east door where Gally stood about to sacrifice Thomas and Teresa. Gally doesn't look at me, he doesn't let his eyes go anywhere near me, and I'm thankful for it the bag would give away the plan.

"Gally!" Winston calls out to Gally "This doesn't feel right man," he tells Gally urging him to stop, and I almost laugh. If I couldn't convince him nobody can. "What if Thomas is right? Maybe he can lead us home," Clint suggests "we are home, okay? I don't want to have to cross any more names off that wall," Gally says pointing to the wall and I scoff bringing attention to myself. "You think sacrificing them is going to stop that?" I ask "this place is a lost cause," I tell him meeting his stoney gaze and I can see the rim of red lining his eyes.

"You really think I can let Thomas back into the maze? Look around you! Look at our glade! This is the only way, and when the grievers get what they came here for, everything will go back to the way it was before," Gally says eyes looking at me "Tie him up," Gally says gesturing to Thomas who is pretending to still be passed out, but his eyes don't leave mine. "Things can never be the same," I say as Thomas knocks out the gladers trying to pick him up.

We all go into action immediately I usher Chuck over to Thomas as I knock out gladers trying to stop us. Gally looks at us with hurt and irritation, "you're full of surprises, aren't you," Gally says looking at Thomas "you don't have to come with us, but we are leaving. Anyone else who wants to come this is your last chance!" Thomas calls out "don't listen to him he's just trying to scare you." Gally tells the remaining gladers.

"We're not trying to scare you, you're already scared. I'm scared, we're all shucking scared, but I rather risk my life out there then spend the rest of it in here," I tell them my eyes boring into Gally's trying to tell him "We don't belong here, this place isn't our home. We were put here, okay, we were trapped here. At least there we have a choice, we can make it out of here. I know that," Thomas finishes and we're all silent for a moment.

My eyes flicker to my best friend my oldest friend Winston who moves over to us, then clint, and more. I smile just a touch as Winston comes over to me and I engulf him into a quick hug "I'm glad you're here," I whisper to him. I see Gally still standing firm along with the remaining builders, and my heart breaks. "Gally, it's over. Please, come with us," I beg him as I feel Chuck put his hand in mine to pull me into the maze in case I get second thoughts.

"Good luck against the grievers," he tells us and my heart sinks as I feel Chuck pull me into the maze and I feel Gally's eyes remain on me.
