(Y/n)'s POV 

I sit eating my breakfast alone for the first time in forever since Gally and Winston had to get a jump start on work today. "Hey (Y/n)!" I hear a thick British accent call to me I turn to see the second in command Newt and smile at him "Hey Newt, what's going on?" I quiz as I sip some water finishing my breakfast.

He smiles mischievously "Well, actually I'm actually here to cash in that favor you owe me," he tells me "I'm a track hoe today aren't I?" I ask sadly. I was not the best track hoe but I did have a talent for reviving plants that were thought to be dead. "Yeah, I need that special (Y/n) touch the new Greenie has nearly killed half of my tomatoes," he says grieved by the hit the garden had taken. 

"Honestly, I'm shocked you let a Greenie near them. Your tomatoes are usually too special for Greenies," I said causing him to laugh as we head over to the Garden "I had little choice Alby needed my help with something so I had to put him in charge of them," he tells me I nod in understanding. "I was shocked when you choose to be a Slicer (Y/n). You're really talented in the garden," Newt says as he watches me pick up a watering can.

We go over to the tomatoes and I see little to no red, but hope wasn't lost. They were severely dehydrated so I watered each plant with plenty of water. I was just hoping that I don't drown the poor things as they struggle to live. I begin pulling off the dead from the stalk "What are you doing?" Newt asks concerned for the plant as I mangle its body. 

"If I take the dead off without damaging the stalk new fresh ones will grow in its place," I explain "It makes you wonder how you learned this stuff doesn't it?" Newt says as he starts to mimic me taking off the clearly dead tomatoes. I laugh "I'm just a natural talent," I tell him causing him to laugh "you wish!" he exclaims causing me to laugh as well.

Newt and I work hard on the tomatoes until lunch and I invite Newt to sit with Winston, Gally, the builders, and me. I can see he's hesitant since he and Gally not being the best of friends, but he agrees, nonetheless. "So Newt how'd (Y/n) do in the gardens?" Winston asks "good, but I'll let you keep her as a slicer. You lot over there need as much help over there as you can get," Newt says causing Winston to laugh. 

"(Y/n) had her pick of jobs when she first got here. You were pretty talented in every area," Gally says digging into the sandwich in front of him. "All except a runner," I say "but I knew pretty quickly it was between the builders and the slicers," I add thinking about all the jobs I had tried before deciding. "You're not having second thoughts now that you're with Gally right?" Winston asks "because I'm not willing to lose my best slicer," he tells me eyeing Gally jokingly. 

I laugh a full happy laugh at the notion "as much as I enjoy Gally's company I've heard he's a tough keeper," I say smiling at Gally who furrows his brow at the comment "Who said that?" he asks looking at his builders at the table. That causes Newt and Winston to laugh as well. 

When night finally comes around before I go to Gally and I's room I wash up. When I enter I see Gally doodling in a notebook causing me to smile, "what's that?" I quiz approaching him he shows me and I see Newt, Winston, and me laughing from lunch. I smile impressed "that's amazing Gally. I'm impressed," I tell him settling in the bed next to him. "Thanks, I like to draw the happy moments in the Glade, so that when the bad happens we can remember that it's not all bad," He tells me.

I press a gentle kiss on his forehead "that's amazing Gally," I say and he just stares into my eyes for a minute before leaning in and pressing the kiss to my lips. I feel butterflies and sparks run through my body. He pulls back with a smile and without another word, he blows out the candle and lays down for bed and I smile at him as I cuddle up to him.
