《The Roommate: A Mathew Barzal Fanfiction》13. Mathew

After the backseat hook up.
It was followed with another hook up on the mini-kitchen the next morning. We did another one on the living room couch while we're watching The Bachelorette after my game, and another one on my bedroom after Jade helped me pack to go hit the road again.
It's been a week now and I can still feel all the crazy things she does during those hook ups.
God! That girl...
She always make me feel sweaty, hot and bothered by just thinking about her.
After hanging up with my Dad to go hit the shower after our game against the Pittsburgh, I dialed Jade's number. Right after every game, I always call my Dad. But now, I already started calling Jade too.
She answers on the sixth ring.
"Hey. I'm sorry it took so long." Her voice filled the other line and I don't know what's up with her voice but everytime I hear it I always lose my breath. "How was the game?"
"Bad." I said and laid on my hotel bed. "We lose it and my back hurts so bad."
"Oh I'm sorry." She said in a sad tone and despite of my aching body, her sympathy sooths all the pain. "But you still have another game right?"
"Mm-hmm. We have one more game to win the series." I said closing my eyes.
"Well then you guys should make sure to win the next game, I'll pray for that."
I giggled. She was silent for a bit and I heard her yawn.
"I'm sorry I'm not there to kiss all your boo-boos." She said lazily.
I smiled. "I'll be home on Saturday you can kiss these all night."
"Okay." She said in a sleepy tone.
"Sleepy much?" I asked.
"Hmm." The only thing she utters and a heavy sleepy breathe then takes over.
"Jade?"
No response. She probably fell asleep for sure. I didn't hang up yet because I still want to hear those cute breathes she have over the phone. Not until sleepiness itself strikes me, I cut the call off.
I am so drawn into her, it's terrifying.

The game against Pittsburgh was intense...
They are so eagier to win and bounce back to beat us but we are already on the lead with 3-2 score and we are already two minutes before the end of regulation.
The second line hits the ice and Anders cursed right next to me when Bailey misses the puck coming from Brassard.
"Go get 'em!" He shouted.
But right before the buzzer beeps to signal the end of the game, Crosby got the chance to score sending the game to a goddamn overtime.

"Fuck!" Bailey curses. He's clearly upset about not being able to defend the puck. We're so close to winning the series, no slip ups as much as possible if we want to go to the playoffs.
"It's okay man!" Anders encouraged. "We got this."
Coach Trotz started to spill all the defenses and techniques cursing each and everyone of us about our faults in tonight's game. "Strengthen your defenses and make sure the forward gets the chance to slam a slapshot."
Few ticks of the clock passed and we hit the ice again all rummaging to get the puck. Clutterback steals the puck and took few seconds right before passing to Anders, he faked a slapshot to distract the goalie then passed it right to me. I jammed it in and the lights started blinking.
We scored!
"Do or die boys! Do or die." Anders shouted when we hit the bench a minute after.
It's 1-0 and we're already two minutes away in dominating the Pittsburgh. I hit the ice chasing the puck side by side against Letang this time.
As I finally found the opportunity on stealing the puck, Letang snaps it away swinging his hockey stick right to my face.
"Fuck!" I cursed closing my eyes as I felt a burning jolt of pain on my left temple.
I stopped from skating and as I blink it all away I saw blood on the ice.
Shit, not again!
The team medic came to my aide letting me sit on the bench pressing a clean sheet right on the part that badly hurts.
"I can't fucking leave the game!" I hissed pressing the towel that is now dumped with my sweat and blood.
"Leave it to your teammates, we're thirty-seconds away. Our defense lines are tight, Penguins won't stand a chance." One of our assistant coaches said.
Thirty seconds in a life of a hockey player, that is still critical during a do or die game.
Damnit! Why do I always get accidentally hit on the face in every game?
I don't like this at all...
*
I arrived home early in the morning the next day with a busted right eye. I got stitches just above my eyebrows and a semi-black eye. Letang got me hard yesterday, but we won the game though so this stupid injury is all but worth it.
After I put all my things in my room I went to the mini-kitchen to pour myself some tea. I'm craving for this actually because I only drink tea when I am right in the house.
It's already nine in the morning, Jade is still sleeping when I went into her room when I arrived.

She loves to sleep-in every weekend if she doesn't have anything to do during the day. It is still strange to me that I know her habits and schedules though, I've only known her for like two months but I feel like I have known her for forever.
I busied myself on the kitchen and just decided to do some french toast and scrambled eggs for Jade and me.
"Good morning."
"Morning." I greeted back not returning to look on who owns the voice. "Great timing I'm cooking us a breakfast."
"Oh really? I thought your doing your laundry, because it's definitely not obvious." She said snorting.
Her sarcasm never fails on making me laugh to be honest. Some people might find hard to keep up with sarcasms, but I find it really bizarre when Jade throws one.
When I turned to her to serve the plates and the cup of tea I prepared for her she's burrying her face on her arms.
"Still sleepy?" I asked while she tries to sit properly while her eyes are still closed.
"Hmm." She replied. "Got a lot of paperworks to do because holidays are looming."
She still looks so beautiful despite of that messy brown hair of hers wearing a baggy Guns n' Roses shirt and a sweatpants. She has a strange obsession with rock band shirts by the way.
Damn! Being around her is like a full intense hockey game. My heart beats faster that I almost ran out of breath every time I see her. She makes me laugh like no one in this world can. She makes me feel so alive, more than the hockey game makes me.
I think I might have fallen in love with her.
I planted a kiss on his lips while shoving the cup of tea on her hands. When she finally opens her eyes I didn't miss the gasp came out from her mouth looking at me with wide eyes.
"Oh my god! What happened to your eyes?"
I settle on the chair next to her chuckling. "Calm down babe. It's just a little injury from yesterday's game."
"Little? You got stitches!" She said cupping my face while she studies the wound above my eyebrows.
"Nah. Its fine." I said and kissed her jaw.
"What happened?" She asked and sip on the tea.
"Letang accidentally hit me with his stick during the overtime." I explained eating the french toast.
"Letang? As in Kris Letang?"
I nodded. "The one and only."
"Oh wow! My man can really hit hard." She exclaimed putting her cup down and started attacking the food I prepared.
"Excuse me. Did you just say my man?" I asked in disbelief.
She snorted. "Yup! My man. Gosh! I have a crush on that player and Tyler Seguin too. I'm like their number one fan girl."
As silly as it sounds but I feel jealous right there. Seriously? What about me? Am I not her man yet?
Jade probably have seen my disturbed expression which made her snicker and pat me on my shoulder. "Calm down boy. I won't throw myself on Letang, he's married. But on Seguin I'd probably will if I see him in person."
My jaw dropped and I wasn't able to control myself this time. "Are you fucking kidding me?"
"What?" She said innocently.
"Am I just a joke he-- what about me?" I demanded completely sounding like a two year old.
"Aw Barzy." She said with a puppy eyes and started laughing. "Of course you are. But you can't stop me from fan girling over other players."
"No." I said firmly holding her towards me as I kiss her neck. "My girlfriend is only allowed to fan girl over me and nobody else."
"Wait-- what?" She asked looking straight to my eyes. "Girlfriend? I'm your girlfriend?"
"Hell yes, you are!" I said without any hesitation. I like her and I am completely going to be honest that I am starting to fall for her.
She smiled and wrapped her arms above my shoulders after few seconds of thinking over about what I just said. "Do I have a say about this matter?"
"What? You don't want me to be your boyfriend?" I asked smiling this time because I already know what's coming, we both are.
She just giggled and kissed me earnestly that I couldn't help myself from releasing a moan that causes her to giggle. God! It's been a week without kissing this girl and it feels like forever.
She breaks the kiss and looked at me once again grinning.
"Am I not allowed to fan girl over Seguin anymore? Or any other hockey players for that matter?"
"A big fat no." And I kissed her again. "Just over me."
"You're so protective!" She commented. But I don't care.
Thinking about her with another guy or fan girl over a hockey player aside from me causes a huge punch on my gut and I don't like it.
She's my girl, I'm just gonna say it. She's mine and nobody else.

UPDATES TUES/THURS after chapter 5 Cover art by Tumblr User: @pigeon-princess This book features characters that are related to in many ways to my other novel "Grimoire". While both stories are their own stand alone series, Sun God's Corruption will add a good amount of depth to Grimoire, and Grimoire shows the unfoldings of the world that will eventually come from the events in Sun God's Corruption. I reccomend reading them both interchangably.
