Wednesday

And, I am fifteen minutes late! Again, for the third time this week.

See, this is the reason why I don't want to live uptown. It's just few minutes ride but the traffic every rush hour is the worst. I went into several other routes everyday but I still end up late.

Thank god, Ander let me borrow his Range Rover or else I'm gonna be stuck on the traffic if I didn't. As I settle on my own desk at the office, Corina greeted me good morning while checking herself on her phone like it's as if she's taking a selfie.

She's on her early forties but acts like she's not. As weird as it sounds but she's way more updated to every trends happening and all that compared to me. She's a hipster mama, hell yeah!

I greeted her back.

"You're late again. It's quite strange." She said putting her phone on her desk drawer. Yeah, it is strange, because I was never late eversince I started working here.

I sighed opening my computer. "I know. I just moved in to a new place, I'm still adjusting."

"Glad that you finally found one. It's hard to look for a new place in downtown these days." She commented burying herself on some paperworks.

"Actually, I haven't found one yet." I announced. "I moved in with my cousin who's living uptown while I'm still looking for my own place."

Speaking of which, I don't have plans on looking for one anymore. After seeing my cousin being left alone on that massive house in the past few days since Ander was always on the rink for practice makes me feel sorry for her.

She's pregnant and it's frustrating to think that in the next few months Ander won't be around all the time because he'll be hitting the road for the game season.

So I just decided to just stick around until she give birth. She's three months pregnant so it leaves me with six more months to go stay with them. It's not that bad and I love Tori so it won't be hard.

The hardest is probably me sharing the same floor with Mathew. My set-up right now is more like going back to college living on dorms, it's just that instead of having girls as a roommate I have a boy.

No. He's not a boy. He's a man.

Mathew Barzal is all but man. Gosh! Those shoulders? Those eyes? And those smiles? I'm not gonna lie my panties just came off voluntarily.

He's hot.

I mean, he's a hockey player so that makes sense. No wonder, he's one of the most popular NHLers next to my Tyler Seguin of course.

Seriously, I didn't expected that I'm gonna be sharing the same house with him or even a floor.

Honestly, it's torture! Rooming with a hot guy that you can't have, is a complete torture.

Nah. He might get interested with you Jade.

I laughed silently on that thought.

No, that's absolutely impossible. Mat is surrounded with hot girls, mostly are supermodels and huge celebrities. He's more like a celebrity, everybody knows him.

The world of girls is like his oyster. He can pick whoever he wants and he won't surely settle on a girl like me when he's been surrounded with girls who has the same level of fame as him.

Besides, who am I anyway? I'm completely nothing.

"Oh, that's cool." Corina commented. "Friendly advice though? Stick around as long as you want."

I laughed by that silly advice, but that ain't happening as much as I want to. The luxury on that house is next level, but that house isn't mine.

So, I'm not sticking for long.

And our little chitchat got interrupted when one of our lawyers approached Corina's table asking for help on something.

"Attorney Peters will surely burst my balls today." She mumbles on a low tone making sure the retreating attorney won't hear her.

I snickered. "Thank god, you don't have any balls."

And both of us laugh while she leaves her desk to follow attorney Peters.

By the time clock strikes at exactly five-thirty, I gathered my things to leave the office. I'm meeting Collins for early dinner tonight, he still feels sorry about what happened so he's treating me to this Italian restaurant.

Few minutes passed, I entered the restaurant. Luckily, there are only few people in here so I easily track down Collins who's sitting on the far end corner of the restaurant waving at me.

As I look around, I kind of feel off since most of the people are wearing fancy clothes. Mostly are couples having dinner together and some few men on business suits.

However, I secretly thanked my job for requiring us to wear business casual every day or else I'd be feeling shittier than I already have at the moment.

Screw my social anxiety!

When I reach the table, Collins welcomed me with a warm hug and an exaggerated cheeks to cheeks like it's as if we're two fancy people coming from England. Well, blame Collins and his gay ass!

"Girl, why didn't you tell me that this is a fancy-nancy restaurant? I could have just brought a fancy clothes with me." I commented as I settle on the chair across him.

"Trust me Jade. I also thought of that." He said chuckling. "This is a newly opened restaurant and I thought this is just a normal place, but I was wrong."

I smiled. "Thank god, we're on business casual every day for work. Or else!"

"I know. We still managed to fit in with this rich people." He said doing his usual hand gestures that I find super hilarious.

I smiled. "Well, you're rich."

He tilted his head. "Nah. Just fine."

Collins is a richie rich kiddo from Connecticut, but it's not obvious enough since he still prefer simple things than fancy ones. And that's the thing I love about him, he's humble as hell but tries to deny it by saying that he only does that so that I can afford it.

But we both know that was just a joke, he spoils me all the time which I personally don't like, however, Collins words should be followed so I just let him do it.

The waiter arrived and get our orders. I ordered a Chicken Parmesian and Collins ordered a Lasagna and Spaghetti Carbonara. As we wait for our dinner to arrive while sipping on our champagnes, we catched up on what happened with our amazing lives in the past few days.

Collins is quite busy with his job working as an interior designer of a real estate company and that's why after last Saturday's incident he wasn't able to attend to me and help me move out because he was buried on with his job.

I told him that I'm already living with the Lee's now, but I didn't told him that I am roommates with Mathew Barzal. Because I definitely know that ones I drop that name he'll surely leave me in just one second to go to the house and see it for himself.

He even tried to bombard me to go to Tori's house before when I told him that she married an NHLer. Collins isn't a huge fan of the hockey game though, but hockey players? A huge yes.

Even before, the only reason why he agreed to watch few hockey games with me back in Boston when we were still in college was only because he wants to see hot guys and not the game itself.

I mean, I won't be hypocrite I actually do that too.

The reason why I watch hockey is because of Tyler Seguin, I'm such a huge fan girl of that player. I always sacrifice long hours of bus ride from Hastings to Boston to watch the Bruins home games just to see him, but sadly he got traded to the Dallas now which was so sad.

Honestly, if he wasn't traded and he still plays for the Bruins I'd surely watch the home games live every now and then even if it means me commuting from New York to Boston.

But because of that, I stopped watching live hockey and I became so caught up with my job to bother on watching a whole game season on tv.

When our food arrived, Collins and I didn't stop from chatting not until we started waiting for our dessert and Collins went to the restrooms.

I glanced on my wristwatch to check the time when my attention fly to the two person seating on the other side of the restaurant.

It's Mat.

Guess, he's on a date huh?

Based on what I see, I guess the two of them just arrived since there are still no food on their table.

He's with a blonde girl wearing a too revealing silver dress, and as I catched a glimpse of the girls face she looks stunning! More like a Victoria Secret Angel popped out of the magazines.

I don't know what's up with me but I suddenly felt off, disappointed maybe?

I sighed. Gosh! What's wrong with me? Why do I feel so affected over a guy I just literally met few days ago? And aside from that, we're not even close.

Yeah, I share the same floor with him. But we even barely see each other. The last time I saw him was Tuesday morning when I was having my usual tea on the mini kitchen while he was going out of his room to go head to practice and that was it.

So why would I feel like this?

Snap out of it Jade! It's not worthy of your time.

Collins went back to our table just in time the Tiramisu we ordered for dessert was served. We only finished it in like five minutes and called for the waiter for our bill.

"Do you have plans after this?" Collins asked after paying for our food. "Want to go hit the bar or something?"

"Collins, it's Wednesday night." I replied giggling.

"I know, but it's quite early and I have nothing to do tonight."

"Well, pass. I'm still detoxifying from last weekends drinking." Gosh! I was so drunk that night, I don't know why. "And besides, I'm driving."

"Oh yeah. Sorry I forgot."

I rose to my feet. "I'm just gonna go use the restroom first before we head out. You want me to drop you on your place?"

"Sure hun." He replied and I head to the restroom trying hard not to look on the side where Mat and his date are at.

I'm still feeling that strange pang on my chest that I can't explain why so it'll be great if I pretend that I haven't seen him or else everything will be so damn awkward.
