《The Roommate: A Mathew Barzal Fanfiction》2. Mathew

2.
On the drive home from the rink, I recieve a text from Ander telling me that my roommate has arrived.
Tori's cousin is moving in on their house today, and as weird as it sounds but I am definitely anxious as fuck.
I don't know why.
Or maybe, I'm just feeling uncomfortable thinking that I will be sharing the same floor, same bathroom and same mini kitchen with a stranger.
And with a girl.
I mean, sharing certain stuff with a girl is okay because I have a little sister. But sharing it with Tori's cousin is kind of strange. I already felt strange living with Ander and Tori, let alone share the same floor with Tori's cousin.
The Lee's are living on a huge house and I happen to occupy the second floor which is their guest floor. They call it guest floor and not a guest room because that's how massive their house is.
I stay with them every game season just so I can stay grounded and stay focused. I know, I'm already old enough to still feel dependent and I'm absolutely responsible kind of a person. But living on my own is a different issue.
My days here in New York is consist of practice, gym, media day and practice again. So having my own place here is a waste of time since I always go home to Vancouver every off-season and I'm always on the road so what's the point? Plus, I'm way too busy with hockey to go take care of my own house, cook for myself and what not.
I thank god, Ander and his wife are such good people for letting me stay with them.
: r u done in the rink? Needed extra help to move some few boxes.
: I'm omw back.

Five minutes later I pulled my car on the front lawn seeing Ander lifting boxes that is on the doorway while Tori instructs him. As I approach the couple, a brunette came out of the house just in time Ander and Tori saw me.
"Hey Mat! Finally you're here." Tori greeted.
"Working your butt off, huh?" Ander asked putting the box back on the ground slapping my hands.
I just shrugged, can't help it. I love being on the rink all the time.
Then I looked at the brunette in front of me. "So this is my roommate." I said enthusiastically. "Hi! I'm Mat." I introduced offering my hands.
She smiled awkwardly and accepted my hand. "Jade. Tori's cousin. Nice to meet you."
"Likewise." I replied and shook her hands twice. Her skin is way too smooth that I just forced myself to stop from squeezing it because that might just be weird.
My gaze is still glued on her as I heard Tori asking me to help carry some boxes to Jade's room. I didn't expected that Tori's cousin is damn way too attractive.
Jade didn't noticed it though because she's too busy lifting some boxes into the house, except for Tori who snickered tapping me on my shoulder.
"My cousin might melt on that Mat."
"What?" I said blankly, pretending that I didn't know what she was talking about as I lift a huge box.
"Nothing." She answered smiling sheepishly while getting inside the house.
Shit! That was awkward.
I've seen a lot of attractive girls before, flirted with models and few celebrities but Jade feels and looks way too different.
I know, it's silly because I just met her. But there's nothing bad with having first impressions right?
We spend the next few hours helping Jade to move boxes into her room adjacent to mine. After that, we eat lunch together on the main kitchen.

She's actually fine.
We exchanged couple of conversations the whole lunch time, so it made me think that it's not bad to go share the same floor with her.
"Your friend should feel bad and do more than that!" Ander commented chuckling after hearing what happened as to why she got kicked out from her apartment.
"I know." Jade giggles. "But I owe him a lot prior to all those incidents so it's fine."
"You're such a good friend. Collins might took advantage of that." Tori commented.
"No, not actually. If he did we won't be friends for six years now." Jade answered while playing on a piece of carrot on her plate.
"I'm hoping he won't be doing that in here, in case he visits you." I chimed in chugging on the glass of water.
She chuckled. "Oh no. I won't. This isn't my house. I swear to god! I don't even have plans on letting him know where I live now."
After we eat lunch, I head straight to my room to go nap. I'm exhausted from the drills I made on the ice today.
Usually, when I got back from the rink I immediately throw myself on my bed for a quick nap but since my hottie roommate arrived I can't absolutely pass on getting to know her a bit.
She's cool.
Hope that in the next few days we won't be having any problems. I'm kinda anxious to be honest, but we'll see.

Making a difference
Harry Potter FanFiction: Hannah Longbottom liked to watch the people who entered the Wizarding World via the small, walled courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron for a reason: During her not so long life, she had learned about three different boys who had entered the Wizarding World alone, leaving behind a life so horrible she could barely imagine. One of them, who became a friend of hers, had gone through great hardships to become a hero, one of the greatest wizards the Wizarding World had ever seen. One of them, who had been her teacher, had become cold and bitter, and no one had ever recognized what amazing talents he could have offered, until it had been too late. One of them, the monster she had helped to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts, had become the most dreaded, most dangerous, and most deadly man Great Britain had ever seen, and yet it could have all been different, if someone had just tried to make that difference early enough in that life, if he had not boarded the train to Hogwarts all alone. Already posted at Devianart and AO3, I've included a link to RoyalRoad on my profiles there.
