I looked at the beautiful bride in front of me. She was just gorgeous but extremely stressed.

"Calm down Hailey everything will be fine" I said for the hundredth time

"I can't calm down until I will be Mrs Thompson and comfortably sitting in the plane for my honeymoon" Hailey replied

Her mother was just looking at her with so much love and pride.

"How time is it?" Hailey asked again

"Just more five minutes from the last time you asked" I mocked gently

"Hey ladies" Mr Robertson, Hailey's father interrupted

"Oh my little princess you are so beautiful" Her father said lovingly kissing her hands

It was really a very emotional moment, Hailey is like a sister for me and I hope this day will be unforgettable for her and her husband to be.

"Let's go it's time honey"

We made our way to the little church where were the family and the closest friends waiting.

Grabbing the arm of her father, Hailey walked to Jeff, beside him was standing Adrian extremely handsome in his grey suit. Lucas was also so cute with the same suit as his father; I smiled at him.

The ceremony was beautiful, the vows perfect and emotional.

After that we headed to the reception. Hailey and Jeff booked a castle absolutely magnificent. The table were installed in the garden, the view of multiples light and the smell of the flower made us travel.

I was standing with a flute of champagne discussing with Leo. I am glad that we stay in a good term.

We are chatting and laughing when Erin came towards us

"Hello Mrs Robertson"

My smile faded away instantly, she noticed my discomfort and spoke quickly

"Oh I am sorry... I didn't mean to..."

"It's ok Erin, how are you?"

"I am ok Elissa, I am really happy to see you"

"Me too" I replied with a hug. It was completely true, I always liked her.

Erin and Leo kept looking at each other so I introduced them

"Erin this is Leo my good friend and Leo this is Erin Adrian's assistant"

"Nice to meet you Erin" Leo replied smiling at her. She looked at the floor clearly shy

"Likewise" She replied

Something was happening between the two and I felt like an intruder so I excused myself.

I looked for Lucas and spotted him with his father, I decided to don't go there. Everything was going smoothly the guests were clearly enjoying the evening; I was just looking around not wanting to interfere with anyone, there were a lot of people who were present at my wedding too, so cross their path again as divorced was not very comfortable for me.

I was lost in my thought when I felt a hand on my arm, it was Adrian

"Are you okay"

"Mmm yes, where is Lucas"

"He is playing with the other kids"

I just nodded; he kept looking at me with an intense stare

"You are extremely beautiful Eli"

"Thank you" I simply replied, I didn't want to make a conversation but like we all know now Adrian is very stubborn

"They did a great job the wedding is a success"

"Yes I am not surprised Hailey is a perfectionist" I replied with a smile

"It reminds me of ours, it was a perfect day" Adrian added

I looked at the table, I didn't want to speak about this, Adrian took my hand making little circles with his thumb

"Elissa... I want you to remind the beautiful memories too"

"You don't understand Adrian I don't want to remind anything neither the good nor the bad I just want to forget"

"I know but..."

"Look Adrian why don't you just let us enjoy the evening huh"

He kept silent for a moment before continuing

"Ok in this case I want a dance" He smiled

"I don't think it's a good idea"

"Why not?"

"Everyone here will look at us, I don't want any attention"

"I don't care about anyone and you must do the same, let's enjoy" He said standing still holding my hand

We danced for a long moment, each time I wanted to stop he didn't let me closing his arms harder around my waist. After several attempt I freed myself. I went to discuss with the bride and groom, congratulating them again. They served diner, I was in the same table as Adrian's parent, his aunt and uncle, Adrian and Lucas. The food was delicious. After that the moment of speeches began. Jeff's father was the first, then his brother and finally Adrian. Lucas sat on my knees to listen to his father

"I really don't know if in this speech if I have to play the rule of the cool best friend or the protective brother because of course it will not be the same especially for you Jeff" We all laughed "Anyway in both cases I am extremely happy and proud of you two, who's known you for a long time know you're coming back from afar, still you are here happily married. You have managed to ignore all your differences and disagreements by focusing only on what really matters... the love you feel for each other. Nevertheless this special day is only the beginning. I want you to be strong, forgiving, patient, respectful and above all have faith in your love and your partner. Believe me I know what I'm talking about because these are all the things I haven't managed to do" He was staring at me with watery eyes; I diverted my gaze unable to maintain my emotions I felt the hand of Adrian's mother on my shoulder giving me a little squeeze. Adrian cleared his throat and spoke again

" I wish you all the best... Jeff take good care of my baby sister and I am clearly not the cool best friend when I say that"

All the guest applauded. Fortunately Adrian was stopped by some people before he could come back to our table.

I entrusted my son to his grandparents before walking away, I needed some space. I sat on a corner looking to the crowd. My eyes fell on my ex in laws despite years of being together they are still so much in love, Hailey was kissing her husband tenderly, some other couples were dancing and in a table was Leo discussing and smiling at Erin.

Everyone seemed happy with their partner and at this precise moment I felt lonely terribly lonely.
