《Forbidden | ✓》-Chapter 25-

"He loves her, she loves him
Simple you think?
Wrong, it's more complicated than you think.
Because it's a forbidden love..."
::::::::::::::::::::::
I laid on my hospital bed staring at the ceiling. I had woken up a few hours ago and am bored as hell. I presumed everyone else was asleep.
So, I can't really call them. The only people I'm waiting for are my siblings. Zan did say they will be here early in the morning. It's eight o'clock now.
I feel so alone.
I sighed and continued staring at the white ceiling. Fortunately, my siblings burst into the room right then and there. They instantly attacked me in a hug.
I chuckled as they almost squeezed me to death. I needed this. "Hello, everybody," I greeted, once they pulled away.
Zan was giving me a glare while others had soft expressions on their faces. "What the hell happened to you?" Nick broke the silence.
"It's a long story," I said. "Well, we've got time don't we, Zan?" Seleene asked and Zan nodded. I groaned. "Can you just leave it?" I complained.
"No! We want to know what happened to our little sister. It's the second time now that you're in hospital. In just one month!" Zanniah exclaimed.
"We were worried sick about you! If you didn't have to finish varsity, we would have took you with us to Durby!" Farah added.
"Oh no, no, no. I don't want to go to Durby," I told them. "Well then, where do you want to go?" Felix questioned.
I looked down on my lap. "Remington," I whispered. When I lifted my eyes, everybody held neutral looks.
"Oh. That's where you and Nate were planning to go," Zan whispered. I nodded, agreeing with her. "I have never seen my sister this lovesick before," Farah muttered to herself.
We all heard her, though.
Her comment made me laugh. "It's the first time, you know? She was lucky. Her first love is going to be her forever," Seleene said.
We're not so sure about that.
"Yeah," I agreed, not wanting them to know that that comment made me a little bit sad. "You sure are lucky, sis. And on top of that, it's a white guy," Felix added.
"Back in my days, white guys did not even spare a glance at me. Well, they were all ugly anyway," Zan shared, jokingly. We all laughed at her statement.
"Hey! You changed the subject. We asked you what happened," Farah said. I groaned and slapped a hand on my forehead.
I thought I had succeeded.
"I was being mugged, okay? That's what happened. The guy pointed a gun at me and I fought for it. Turns out, he ended up shooting my leg and then ran away after that," I lied.
"Oh. Well, guns are dangerous Vee. Don't ever fight for a gun with some thief. You might end up dead one day." I flinched at Zan's mention of death.
Heather thinks I'm dead. But definitely not for long. That woman is smart, I tell you.
"Zan, no," I heard Farah whispering to her. "What? It's the truth," she defended herself. "Let's move on to the next topic. Vee, you're getting discharged tomorrow," Seleene informed me.
"Tomorrow?" I inquired. They all nodded. "Well, that's surprisingly early," I commented. "And, Nick has cast an eye on the doctor," Zan sang.
I grinned and asked,"Really?!" Felix nodded. "Yep." I wiggled my eyebrows at Nick and he just looked away. Aww. They would make a great couple.

"So, what to you want to do, today? Lisa gave us the permission to take you out. But only for a few hours," Seleene said.
"Yes! I was starting to feel claustrophobic in this white box of a room," I told them. "We should go for food and then some ice cream," Farah suggested.
"Yeah. That's good," I agreed. They got me dressed in a dress and some sandals. Lisa gave me some crutches to use, since my leg is still a little bit painful.
I limped to the car and I kind of struggled to get inside. Zan helped me, though. We walked inside Spur, the same branch Nate and I went to for our extended second date.
I smiled sadly as I gazed at the exterior of it. I miss him. When will he come see me?! I'm getting impatient. Curse Danny for not being specific!
We stepped inside and found a table. All the way to it, people were staring at us. Some surprised by our large number and some giving me looks of pity.
I don't need pity.
We all sat down and waited for a waitress. "So..." Zan trailed off. "So, how is it going at Durby?" I finished for her.
Zan squealed,"It's going amazing! Even though the weather is getting colder since we're nearing winter. Alex, Imi and I are having a blast."
"I'm happy for you, sis," I told her. "And I am living the best single life ever! For now, it's still fun living alone," Seleene replied for her own part.
"Yes. For now. I remember when I was living alone. For the first few months it was totally amazing and I had the freedom to buy whatever I want. After those months, I became bored. And lonely," Zan shared.
"I would never get bored. I'd have television, some Netflix, you know? Movies here and there, some video games and stuff," I said.
"You say that now. Plus, it's not like when you leave varsity you're going to go and live alone. You'll live with loverboy in the far away city of Remington," Felix sang the last part.
I smiled. "Don't call him that, please. And yes, that was the plan anyway."
"Remind us why you're going to live so far, again?" Farah asked. "Well, the main branch of his family's company is there. So his parents thought it was best he just goes to the main branch," I responded.
"What's the name of this company, again?" Nick inquired. "H.J.N Grove Inc," I answered. "What do the letters stand for?" Zan asked.
"I don't know. Nathan has never told me."
The arrival of the waiter stopped us from saying anything else. "Hi. My name is Jefferson and I will be your waiter for today. May I hand you the menu?"
I shook my head. "Nope. No need, Jefferson. I will get a large chicken and mushroom pizza. Nick, Seleene and Felix will get a bacon and cheese burger. Farah and Zanniah will get a hake fish and chips," I ordered for all of us.
My siblings were all gaping at me. I shrugged nonchalantly. "What?" They continued gaping. I chuckled at them.
"Drinks?" Jefferson asked me. I mentally laughed at the name. It's just so weird. The funny kind of weird.
"Five of us will get a chocolate milkshake. Nick will get a vanilla one," I answered. Nick isn't really a fan of chocolate.
What kind of person doesn't like chocolate?!

"Okay. Your orders will be ready in a few," Jefferson told us and walked away. "When last did you see Nate?" Seleene asked.
"The day before I was shot," I truthfully answered. "Seriously? Isn't he your boyfriend? He's supposed to come and check on you. Why hasn't he come?"
"Uh...he's been busy with the business these days. I've heard things are getting pretty hectic," I lied, again. "Hmm. I've heard that excuse a lot of times. Are you sure he isn't cheating on you?"
Farah's question made me choke on air. "No, NO! Definitely not. How can you even think that?" She shrugged and replied,"I've watched that show, Uyajola 9/9 a lot of times, you know?"
"Oh pah-leez! Nate would never do such a thing to Vee. I've been in the world long enough to know which guy loves truly or not," Zan disagreed.
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Fine. Let's agree to disagree," Farah suggested. "Sure," Zan said and started nudging my side. I turned my head to face her and gave her a questioning look.
"Have you and Nathan, you know? Done it yet?" She asked, while wiggling her eyebrows. What the heck does she mea–
Oh shiz!
I felt the heat rushing to my cheeks. "No. We have not done it. Oh my goodness! We've only been in two dates, Zanniah!" I exclaimed.
They laughed at my misery. I hid my face in my hands. "Okay, sorry for asking then," she apologized and continued laughing.
She wasn't even being sincere. It's times like these I wish Nate was here so that we could be embarrassed together. I hate being the only one blushing like crazy.
As soon as food appeared, they shut their mouths. We started digging in and eating in silence. That was until Zan started humming a song as she ate.
I decided to join her and soon, everyone in our table was humming the song. It had gone completely quiet in the restaurant but we were so engrossed in the song and food, we were oblivious to that.
This continued until the food was finished. Imagine how many minutes that was. When we finally kept quiet, we heard everyone clapping.
Our heads snapped up and we saw the people standing up and cheering for us. I frowned. They were watching us all this time?
We just smiled gratefully at them and eventually, they stopped clapping and continued on with their breakfast.
"Well, that was something," Zan commented when we exited the restaurant. We entered the car and drove off.
That's when I got a call. Without checking the caller ID, I answered,"Hello?"
"Hello, Vanessa. Sorry to cut your hanging out short, but it's time for you to come back," Lisa said.
My face fell. "Oh. Well, that's okay. I understand. I'm on my way right now," I told her. "Okay. See you soon." I cut the call and sighed sadly.
"Sorry, guys. That was Doctor Hailes. I'm afraid I have to go back to the hospital," I informed them. "It's fine. You're getting discharged tomorrow. We have all the time to catch up and hang out," Seleene reassured me.
I just nodded.
The whole car ride to the hospital was silent. When we arrived they offered to walk me inside but I declined the offer.
I entered the familiar hospital and limped to my room. When I got there, I took off my sundress and wore the hospital robe.
I then took off the sandals, and got under the thin covers of the bed again. I soon found myself drifting to sleep...
+++++++++++++
I heard the sound of footsteps. My head shot up and I looked at the door. Soon, someone entered my room. He was wearing all black and his hood was covering his face.
That body looks familiar but I can't pinpoint whose it is. What if it's someone sent by Heather to kill me again?!
Oh no.
I was scared but decided not to show it. I watched as this person stood right next to my bed. And then, he took his hood off. That's when I saw him.
He looked horrible. His blue eyes were dull as he was gazing at me. He looked like a zombie and it hurt me to see him like that.
My hand slapped itself on my mouth and I gasped. "Princess," he whispered. "Nathan," I whispered back.
I opened my arms wide, and he instantly jumped into them, wrapping his arms tightly around me. I didn't bring myself to cry at that moment.
But he definitely was. He pulled away and cupped my cheeks. "I missed you so much," he told me. "I missed you, too."
"Look, I don't have much time. I was only lucky to manage to escape the guy that's following me. I have to tell you something," he started off.
Something tells me it's not going to be good. His voice wavered and he sounded hurt. Hesitant. I let him continue.
"You mean so much to me. You're the last thing I want to lose. You're the thought I wake up to, and fall asleep to. You make me feel so happy and cared for. If you thought differently, well you're wrong."
"I want to keep you in my life for as long as possible. I love you and make sure you don't forget that."
"Can you just go straight to the point?" I asked. "Princess, I–I'm sorry but I have to let you go," he whispered.
I swatted his hands away from my cheeks. Tears brimmed my eyes at that point. "What do you mean let me go?"
"You have to understand. As long as my parents are not behind bars and we're still together, you'll be in danger. I don't want to put you through that," he argued.
"I have to take care of my parents first, Princess. Then, we can live happily ever after. We have to let each other go. When I'm done with my parents, I promise you, I will come back."
"B–but I can't. I can't let you go," I croaked out. The first tear slid down my cheek, followed by another. My heart broke into millions of pieces in that moment.
He took a step back. "I'm sorry but you have to. We both know it's the only way. I promise I will explain everything to you when I come back. I love you, baby," he whispered and turned around, putting his hood back on.
I sniffled and expected him to turn back around to tell me this was all a joke. But no. He didn't turn back. In fact, he kept on walking and exited my hospital room.
I could hear his sobs, as I could hear his heavy footsteps, telling me he was running. That's when I panicked.
I instantly jumped off of the bed, ignoring the piercing pain that came through my leg. I didn't even wince.
I tried running after him. "NO! NO! DON'T LEAVE ME! I LOVE YOU, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!" I was screaming at the top of my lungs but it was like he couldn't hear me.
He only ran faster. The pain in my leg did not compare to the pain my heart was going through. It was like someone was stabbing it countless times, not once stopping.
The tears, on the other hand, were falling nonstop. My leg long forgotten as I kept running and screaming. "NATHAN DON'T YOU DARE! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!"
He wasn't listening to me at all. I tumbled down to the ground and fell on my knees, watching as the love of my life exited the hospital and closed the door behind him.
I saw him mouth 'I love you' to me before he turned around once more and ran off to an unknown direction. "No, no! He's gone! Blue eyes is gone!" I shouted to no one in particular.
I lay myself down on the ground and cried to myself. The nurses came and started lifting me up but I started thrashing around, yelling his name.
Never in my life did I think I'd literally be crazy in love with someone.
A shooting pain in my right arm was the last thing I felt before I blacked out.
