Happy. That was the only word that came to my mind whenever the time to go and meet up with Matt got closer. Two weeks had passed since the day at the waterfalls and we had seen each other everyday. I would cross the border at eleven and by midnight I was already with him.

And every day, Mathew planned something different for us to do. And every night, I couldn't contain the excitement of what we would do next.

I really enjoyed the fact that he could take my mind off of all the problems currently at home. The Luna ceremony was going to take place soon and the arranged fight of Liam and Ben would as well, so being with him kept me occupied enough to forget.

I still got a little over two months to figure how I was going to end this mess, because the fight was not the only problem. Mathew was. With our sudden connection, I knew every day we spent together, the closer we became and the more worried I got.

If only he knew I was already promised and even though my father had taken that decision, I couldn't help the unease feeling I had about it. Something bad would come out of this, but I didn't want to face it just... yet. I wanted to enjoy a little bit more my time with him.

"Mathew." I whispered to the night, I had already crossed the border of my territory and would soon be in Mathews.

I felt a pair of hands wrapped around my waist and I almost screamed when someone whispered. "It's me."

I turned around in his arms as soon as I felt him. I looked up to see my favorite blue eyes staring at me, like usual. "Are you ready?" he asked and I nodded. I was so ready for a new adventure.

"I can't do this. I suck, trust me." I repeated to Mathew as he looked at me. "Mathew." I threw the bow and arrow to the floor and crossed my arms. "I'm serious. I've been practicing for weeks and I'm still so bad."

He didn't even move. "Fine."

I turned around and started making my way towards his cottage.

I was about to step when an arrow grazed my hair, passing me by.

I looked back at Mathew, who held the bow in between his hands.

"How did you...?" I rambled.

He gave me a smile and I walked to him.

"I learned when I was a child. My father taught Michael and me. Most of my pack knows how to shoot an arrow. We have it as an extra tool of protection." He said.

"Will you teach me?" I asked as his thumb grazed my cheek.

He pecked my lips with an answer in between our kiss. "Yep."

"But I better warn you, I'm really bad."

"You aren't. You just haven't been taught well."

He positioned himself behind me and took my hands in his, making us both hold the bow.

I was sure not even a centimeter stood in between us.

"Feel the bow, feel how it stretches with you." He whispered, and placed the arrow in place. "Feel the tension, but don't let it dominate you. Breathe and relax." His lips touched my ear. "Angle your target."

I chose one of the trees that surrounded us.

"Breathe and when you are ready... Shoot."

I took a deep breath and relax when I felt his lips on my ear. I set lose the bows string and the arrow hit the tree I had targeted.

"Well done." He said as I looked dumbfounded at what I had just done.

"Yes!!!" I shouted anxiously and jumped to him.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you." I repeated as I kissed him all over his face.

He laughed as he twirled us around.

"Hey."

I looked up from my book and noticed Ben at my bedroom door. He looked so different, he had dark circles under his eyes and his signature smile was gone. Where was my best friend?

"Hey." I closed my book and stood. I had ignored him ever since the fight he had had with Liam because I had been so pissed, but I wasn't sure how I was felt now.

"Serena, I.." He shook his head. "May I come in?"

I nodded as he stepped in. "I'm sorry." we both said at the same time, which made us smile.

"You.."

"I..."

"I'm sorry for ignoring you this past days.." I apologized.

"You don't have to worry, I'm the one that should be apologizing. I didn't think about how all..." he moved his hands and continued. "Would make you feel, and I didn't get it until yesterday. I'm really sorry, I wasn't thinking very clearly."

He looked miserable, filled with regret. "It's okay."

"Really, I'm truly sorry. If I could go back and undo every.."

"You can't Ben." I interrupted him. "I forgive you, but that doesn't mean you are not fighting anymore with Liam. It doesn't mean that in less than two months, one of you will die for what? A place next to me, a title..?" I asked furious.

"It's not that, Serena you don't get it. I don't care if you are the Luna.. I want to be by your side because I love you, I've always had." He answered. "I can't think of any other reason of why risking my life, do you think I would fight against one of the best soldiers just for fun?"

"Ben.."

I felt bad for him. I didn't knew what love was, until a couple of weeks ago, but I understood him. I knew I would fight against anyone who threaten Mathew. And I knew Ben was probably feeling the same way about me, but I didn't love him back. I had been clear since the beginning and he could die because of me, because of his feelings.

"Serena, I know you don't love me the way I do, but I promise you if you give me a chance I'll make you happy. I'll take care of you always. I'll never leave you." He said and in a second he was in front of me, too close for my liking.

"Ben.. uh, no" I muttered. "I.."

"Please just.. think about it. We have been best friends since we were kids, I know you. I can do this."

Oh God! What was I supposed to answer? Should I go for..'I had found my true mate', 'I don't love you', 'I'm in love with someone else'?

I felt dizzy. "I can't do it." I whispered. "I don't.."

"But why not...?" He shouted, and I knew he was pissed already. I backed away only to be pushed against one of my bedroom walls.

"Because..because I.." I was getting scared, I knew angry wolves weren't safe to be with.

"Is it because of that wolf you met that night?! Is it him you want?!" He asked and I wanted to die.

He had found out about Mathew. I didn't know how or why, but he knew. And as his warm eyes filled with anger and looked down on me, I knew something bad was going to happen. Something that ended with me in the middle...

Damn it!
