I took a quick shower and got dressed. I was going to meet the child for the first time but didn't know what would I talk about.

C'mon Manik!! She is just a child... How difficult could it be to talk to a child??

It has been very easy to deal with Mahi. In this case, I don't even have to be an elder brother to that child.

As it is all I need to do is sign the cheques of her monthly allowance for all her expenses... Isn't it?

Then give her some advice when she chooses her career and find a suitable boy for her to get married to. But there is a lot of time for that I guess.

But how would I start a conversation with her for the first time??

What if she speaks Gujarati only??

" Would she be staying here in the haveli or at the hostel??

I wish she stays at the hostel. I can't act as his brother or parents and babysit her.

Is she upset after the death of my grandfather?? What kind of a relationship did they share?? Does she miss him??

Anyway, I don't care about their relationship... I am going to have a somewhat formal relationship with her. But be a bit friendly so that she can come to me with her problem but I don't want to turn into an agony uncle for her. Just a formal advisor being elder to her.

I called Chachi and told her that I was going to meet the child for the first time.

She wished me luck and told me to call her any time if I need help. I thanked her and went out.

Since I was not aware of the place and routes to be there, I asked for a driver and he came within two minutes as if he was standing outside the door.

I told him to take me to the best mall here.

After about twenty minutes, he stopped the car in front of a huge mall. Not bad!!

I took his number and asked him to wait for about an hour or so, he nodded and parked the car.

I went inside and was pleasantly surprised to see it was not much different from Delhi. The young crowd was behaving more or less in the same manner.

I saw the Starbucks and smiled, thank God!! Went in, and ordered a hot latte coffee and a muffin. I waited for the coffee and looked around and my eyes were stuck on something familiar.

Oh no!!

I think I have gone mad...

Am I in the middle of a nightmare??

Could be...

This can't be possible... But it was there right in front of me.

I saw the girl who slapped me sitting there with a man who was quite older than her. They both were sitting there talking very seriously.

Seriously?? Is it possible?? Maybe she is someone else...

I nodded and I took a deep breath. My order was ready and so was someone else's. I went to get my order and the moment I turned, I came face to face with her.

" YOU!!!!! " We both said in unison.

" Are you following me by any chance?? " She said glaring at me.

" Oh, please, I think it's the other way around. " I said rolling my eyes.

" What?? You are saying that I followed you? Why would I do that??" She asked.

" How do I know... Ask yourself. You were hell-bent to return my money, maybe that's why. " I answered.

" Oh yes, wait!!! I will get your money and give it to you. " She said and turned to go to the man with her, he was on talking on the phone

" I told you, I don't need it. " I said and she turned again.

" But I don't want your money. I will go and get it. I don't want to give you any excuse to follow me. " She said.

" Let it be... I don't need it. " I said going away. But she came after me.

" What are you doing here?? You were in New Delhi... Tell me why are you following me?? " she asked walking behind me.

Oh, my God!! Don't let her start again.

" By the way, is it necessary that you prove that you need mental check-ups and treatment, every time? " I asked.

" Excuse me!! Are you saying that I am mentally unstable? You? Who pays five thousand for food worth Rs four thousand only... Who buys dresses without even asking for the price? " She asked.

" Listen, I don't know about you... But I am in a hurry. " I said and came out of the place before she could react.

But I must be crazy if I even thought that she would not follow me.

" So?? Even I am busy. I have an important meeting in about an hour. " She said.

" All the best to the person who is supposed to meet you. " I said.

" What do you think of yourself?? Well, whatever!! But let me tell you... You are arrogant, rude and irritating. " She said.

" And you are stupid and dumb. "I said.

" Go to hell !! " She said

" I was going there only, please allow me... For god's sake don't stop me this time. " I said and rushed away.

Ahhh!! What a relief!!

I went to an Archies gallery to buy gifts for the little girl, who is going to be my responsibility for almost the next decade.

I went to the gifts section and got one cute bunny and a big teddy bear. Then got a basket with lots of assorted chocolates.

I think this would do... I just wanted to assure her that she doesn't need to worry as she would get everything she has been getting as she was my responsibility now.

Once I got them packed, I paid for them and was coming out of the mall as it was time for me to leave if I wanted to be in time to meet the lawyer and the child. The weather had changed and it seemed that it was going to rain anytime soon.

I took out my phone and was calling my driver, just when something small and soft collided with me and the stuff I was holding fell on the ground.

Even though both of us were about to fall, I managed not to let us fall by placing my arms around her waist. She felt soft and cuddly.

" Oh, I am sorry!! " A sweet voice said.

" It's ok! I got you! " I said and stepped back but was so shocked to see the same girl again.

We both were shocked.

" You!!! Back off!!" She said and pushed me with full force.

Stupid girl !! As if I was dying to hold her.

I was startled and as my arms were still around her because I had steadied her earlier so my foot landed on something wrong and I fell backwards and she fell on me.

" Oh shit!! " She said.

I was about to shout at her but just then I saw that she looked a bit upset, I didn't say anything to her, though I was angry.

What was she so upset about??

I looked at her, she was looking at me with her enormous eyes, her rosy pink mouth was a bit open so looked heart-shaped and I realised that her mouth was as beautiful as her eyes.

Oh, please... shut up!!

" You did that deliberately?? " She said.

" I did that? You bumped into me and even then I saved you from falling and you pushed me?? I know you can't help it, but try to think about the people around you. " I said and we both got up.

" Sorry!! " She tried to get up pushing on my chest, I felt something weird... She got up finally but was getting embarrassed. I picked up the stuff I was holding earlier and gave it to the driver to keep the gifts in the car.

Just then I saw the man who was with her in the Starbucks came toward us.

" Hey, beautiful are you alright? " He asked.

" I am fine!! I need to go." She came very close to me as if she was shrinking away from that man.

" Come, I will drop you. " He said extending his hand.

" No!! I will go. " She shook her head.

" Come on!! That would be very rude of me if I let you go alone. " He said and she leaned into me as if she was seeking some support from me.

" I said, no!! Don't bother. " She said and caught my t-shirt in her fist.

Just like that New year's night, when she was unconscious.

I don't know why, but I felt that she was in trouble and I had to help her.

The man took another step toward her. But she panicked and pulled my t-shirt unknowingly.

" It will not bother me, in fact, ...." he was saying but I caught his hand.

" Don't you understand, that she doesn't want to go anywhere with you?? Leave, before I beat you. " I glared at him.

" Who are you, man?? " He asked.

" Her friend... I will drop her home. Leave!! " I glared at him and he left.

Who was he??

" Are you alright?? " I asked, she just nodded, said thanks without looking at me and left before I could say anything.

Weird !! But as it is nothing was normal, in the case of that girl.

Anyways!! I went to the lawyer's office in due time.

He greeted me and made me sit. We were waiting for her for about ten minutes.

" Is she going to come today?? " I asked.

" I informed her, she confirmed an hour ago, that she is coming. Would be here any moment now." He said and I nodded.

Just then his phone rang, he talked for a minute and said, "Great!! Send her in. " He said and disconnected the call.

" She is here... " He said and I nodded. The door knob turned and I was waiting for the girl to walk in, whose every responsibility would be mine for years to come.

But as soon as the girl stepped in, my heartbeat stopped.

Oh my God!!

It was not the child we were waiting for... It was the most irritating girl in the world.

What was she doing here??

Was she really stalking me?? Why??

Where was the child??
