《The Wedding In Miami》It's not like the movies

"I waited for you, you idiot!" she screamed.

"I couldn't just let you go, you would have broken your foot!" I yelled back.

"I think I did just fine!" she smacked my arm repeatedly.

"Quit hitting me!" I groaned before grabbing her wrists.

"Nick, are you insane? Do you have any idea how much trouble that would have gotten you in?" she shoved me away.

"I would've made it, Emma. You just stood there waiting for me after I tossed you the keys!" I huffed.

"I couldn't just leave you there, what if they caught you, Nick?!" she exclaimed.

"I would have handled it!" I turned to face her completely.

"Yeah, by going to jail," she pushed me again.

"What is wrong with you?" I held her hands down.

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? Am I the only one here who understands how bad this could have been if he got caught?" she scoffed.

Landon cleared his throat, "Well, he didn't," he shrugged lightly.

"Because the slide collapsed. If it didn't and they didn't get distracted then they would be dead," Zoey huffed.

"Yeah, but I think Nick would have made it," Landon said.

"They didn't get distracted because Emma was there," Zo rolled her eyes.

"I'm not saying that," Landon mumbled, "I think we panicked. We should have just stayed calm and stuck together, that's all I'm saying," he glanced at us before turning back to the road.

"That's what I was doing," Emma huffed, glaring at me, "Sticking together, but someone was stupid enough to tell us to just leave him there," she rolled her eyes.

"That's because I knew that if I was by myself, I could outrun them. With you guys there I would be worried about you too," I explained.

"I think we can handle ourselves," she mumbled.

"Yeah, right," I scoffed.

"If you didn't think I could handle myself here and would be some sort of liability, then maybe you shouldn't have brought me!" she snapped.

"Maybe!" I snapped back.

Landon stopped the car on the side and turned to us.

"Are you crazy?" Zo scoffed at me, "She was more prepared for this than any of us were," she looked at me.

"Yeah, but Nick knew everything about it, we were all listening to him," Landon added.

"Yeah clearly, since he knew everything and still didn't bring anything. No water, no food, no flashlight, nothing," Zoey rolled her eyes.

"Okay, maybe we shouldn't fight for them," Landon grabbed her hand. She agreed with him and they both stepped out of the car, leaving us to it.

Emma folded her arms across her chest and huffed as she stared out the window.

"I'm not apologizing," I huffed, standing my ground.

"I'm not either," she smiled at me sarcastically.

"You shouldn't have waited, and you know it," I scoffed.

"You shouldn't have told us to leave, and you know it. Sticking together was the best thing we could do. If you let me go earlier then we'd have made it," she rolled her eyes again.

"If I let you go earlier, then you would have fallen," I sighed with frustration.

"You weren't holding the bars for me, Nick. I would have let them go when I was ready. Like I did!" she yelled.

"Stop yelling!" I shouted.

"I can yell all I want!" she screamed louder.

I huffed, pinching the bridge of my nose. "This wouldn't have happened if you didn't fall," I mumbled.

"I fell because I grabbed onto Zoey. Was I just supposed to let her fall?" she asked.

"Was I just supposed to let you fall?" I turned to her.

"Zoey wasn't willing to jump, I was!" she exclaimed.

"You didn't even know how high it was, and you were willing to jump?" I scoffed.

"If it meant you getting out of there before security caught you? Yeah," she shot daggers at me.

"It wouldn't have been such a big deal if they caught me, I would have talked my way out of it," I rolled my eyes.

She scoffed, "Jesus Christ, Nick. We aren't talking about you not following some rules and getting away with it. We were doing something illegal. We were trespassing and breaking and entering, you can't talk your way out of that!"

I know she's right but I'm not gonna admit that to her. "Why are you so worried about that anyway? It wouldn't have been any trouble for you?" I turned to her, narrowing my eyes at her.

"Did you seriously just say that to me? You really just asked me why I was worried about you?" she deadpanned.

"Yeah," I shrugged.

"Because I fucking care about you, you fucking idiot!" she smacked my arm. "We broke into a place, it's not like the movies! We don't get to get out of here with a rebellious memory to remember, we go to jail! Did you see how many signs there were telling us to keep out? There's no way around it," she huffed.

"Well, you had fun, didn't you?" I arched an eyebrow at her.

"Of course, I had fun. But there's not enough fun in the world for me to have that would make going to jail worth it," she scoffed.

"Look, if I would have known that security comes there, then I wouldn't have taken us," I sighed.

"You really want me to believe that you didn't know security would be there? You're stupid, but not stupid enough to decide to do something like that so spontaneously," she rolled her eyes, leaning her head back.

"Emma, what do you want me to do?" I ran my hand through my hair.

"Just leave me alone, don't talk to me," she shrugged while staring out the window.

"Fine," I huffed. Have it that way.

-----

I shouldn't have snapped at her like that. She had every right to be mad, of course, she was worried about me, I'd be worried about her too. But she did overreact a little bit, right? It's not just me? No, it is. I'm an idiot. I have to talk to her.

These are the thoughts that are running through my head as I take a shower. I finished up and dried myself off, wrapping the towel around my waist and stepping out.

I have to talk to her.

A knock on the door cut me off and I opened it to reveal Emma. She was in her pajama shorts with a shirt of mine that she kept after the break-up and her damp running behind her shoulders. "Can I come in?" she asked, pulling her nails out of her mouth. I stepped aside and let her in before closing the door and turning to her. "I'm sorry," we said in sync.

I sighed as she sat on the foot of the bed. It's almost midnight right now and we haven't talked since we got back which was roughly at eight-thirty.

"You understand why I was worried about you, right Nick?" she asked, looking up at me.

"I know you care about me, Emma, but-"

She cut me off, "I don't just care about you," she sighed, "I lo-" she stopped herself and facepalmed. "It would have been my fault if you got caught. If I didn't fall then we would have gotten out on time," she shrugged.

"You didn't choose to fall, it was an accident," I replied.

"I could have been careful," she sighed.

"You weren't paying attention, Zoey was screaming right behind you, and we had security nearby," I shrugged in understanding, "We all panicked," I shrugged again. She stared at me while fidgeting with her hands. "And maybe I could have let go a little sooner. I was just scared that you'd hurt yourself when you landed. I should've known that you'll make the jump, we've hung around that abandoned mall so many times, you jump that wall perfectly fine and it's like ten times higher," I chuckled.

"I think going there was a horrible idea, but I am glad we did it because I had a lot of fun," she nodded while looking up at me.

"So are we good?" I asked.

"Yeah, we're good," she smiled up at me. I leaned down and kissed her. She lay back and I hovered over her, refusing to break the kiss until we ran out of air but she had other plans.

"Nick," she pushed me back softly, "I'm sorry, but you're naked under that towel," she chuckled, "Please get dressed," she covered her eyes.

I laughed before pecking her lips as I got off her and grabbed my clothes, getting changed in the bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror for a few seconds while my mind raced about her.

I think I love her.

I wouldn't be surprised. I was so close to it last time, I might've reached it already this time around. It's very hard to not love a girl like her. It's very hard not to love her. And I'm pretty sure that I failed. Because I'm pretty sure I love her.

I love Emma Roberts.

Fuck.
