《The Wedding In Miami》It's a love bite

Once we were all finished with dinner and were beginning to clear out, a question hit me in the head. If she wanted to tell people then why didn't she bring it up in front of us at dinner?

"Night," I nodded to my mom and dad.

"Nick, get over here," my dad ordered.

Emma's eyes met mine and I'm pretty sure we were both nervous because, between her parents and my parents, mine are definitely the ones to bring it up first. "Yes, dad?" I asked while walking over to him.

"There's something I need to ask you," he cleared his throat, "Madeline came up to me earlier today at the beach, she says there's something going on between you and Emma. Is that true?" he questioned.

I'm stalling because I don't know how the hell to answer that.

"I'd be happy if it was, Nick. She's a wonderful girl, your mother and I absolutely love and adore her," he explained reassuringly.

"I know that, you almost killed me when everything happened," I sighed.

"What you did was wrong, Nick. And I know your mom's love has spoiled you but we didn't raise you to break someone's heart. Especially a girl like Emma. You were ruining yourself when you did that," he gave me a pointed look.

"What do you mean?" I questioned.

"When you did that to her, you lost the perfect girl for you, and you began looking for distractions. Naturally. But the distractions you had weren't worthy to be brought home. There hasn't been a single girl besides Emma, that has been respectful to your mother and me for longer than a few days and it was very disappointing to see you do that," he sighed.

I should probably tell him about Rachel.

"Dad, do you remember Rachel?" I asked.

"The worst of the worst," he scoffed.

"Yeah well, she's here. In Miami." I turned to face him hesitantly.

"What the hell is she doing here?" he asked in confusion.

"She's here for the wedding," I answered.

"She wasn't invited."

I nodded, "I know, but she's planning on staying till it and she showed up at the beach while we were there, it wasn't good," I mumbled while shaking my head.

He had a look on his face that I couldn't decipher. "Invite her to the wedding," he shrugged.

"What?" I gaped at him.

"You need to show Emma that she can trust you again, Nick. Pushing Rachel away isn't gonna get you anywhere with earning Emma's trust back," he explained while finishing off his whiskey. He has a fair point.

"I'm not gonna be the one to invite her, dad," I shook my head.

"She's a very rude girl, Nick, so I'm not doing it. I hate that girl, Jesus," he mumbled while shaking his head and rolling his eyes.

"I think we all do," I scoffed.

"Don't avoid her. If you do that then Emma's gonna misinterpret it and start doubting what you two have. Let's say we don't invite her to the wedding, just make sure to be pleasant whenever you run into her elsewhere. Be a gentleman. It's what we've raised you to be," he gave me a pointed look while patting my shoulder, "And now get out of here because Emma is waiting for you at the door and a gentleman, doesn't make a lady wait," he sighed.

"Night," I laughed while walking away and seeing Emma waiting by the entrance. "Hey," I smiled.

"Hi," she grinned while I kissed her cheek, pulling her to the elevator. We stepped out on our floor and walked towards our rooms.

I leaned on my door while she unlocked hers. "Can I come in?" I smiled.

She laughed and shook her head while opening the door and stepping aside so I could head inside. She grabbed her pajamas and threw her hair up in a bun while going inside. I sat on her bed and zoned out, staring at the carpet before the door opened and she walked out with a freshly washed face. "Are you just gonna sit there and stare at the floor?" she asked while lying on her stomach and going on her phone.

"Pretty much," I sighed while falling back while she scrolled through her playlist.

"Tell me when to stop," she said while closing her eyes and scrolling.

"Stop," I said randomly.

She stopped and clicked on the song that her thumb was hovering over. Break My Heart by FINNEAS. She began humming to the song while staring at the staring, lying on her back beside me. We just sat there and listened to the song playing.

"That same perfume, those same sad eyes," she sang while closing her eyes and I just lay there staring at her.

The song ended and she turned to me to catch me still just staring at her. She raised her eyebrows at me while smiling. I shook my head before kissing her. I could feel her smiling against my lips and that made me smile too. I trailed down her jaw to her neck and for once, she didn't laugh.

I meant it when I said I was falling for her, and I also meant it when I said it was scaring the shit out of me. I might have already been in love with her, but I left before I could figure that out. It was stupid of me to do that because now when I could have a steady, long relationship with her, we're starting all over again.

I'm lucky to have this second chance with her because people don't really give second chances and the fact that I got one with her is great, but I just wish I hadn't fucked it up the first time.

She began laughing and it snapped me out of my thoughts.

"I just knew it was too good to be true, you just have to laugh," I chuckled while getting off of her and lying beside her again.

"It tickles, Nick," she touched her neck, her fingers tracing the spot I had kissed.

"You're unbelievable, I'll never be able to kiss your neck without you laughing like a maniac," I scoffed.

"You used to love my laugh," she pouted.

"I still do," I grinned, kissing her shortly.

-----

I woke up the next morning with her beside me. She was fast asleep. I glanced at the time on my phone. It was six in the morning. She turned around to face me in her sleep and grabbed my arm, pulling it around her waist.

I lifted it and tucked her hair behind her ear, pecking her lips and she even kissed me back in her sleep. I smiled before leaving a note that said I went to my room before tiptoeing out of there. I didn't want people seeing me leave her room because I know she didn't want anyone seeing that.

I put myself to sleep for another few hours before my doorbell rang a billion times. I rolled out of bed and answered the door to a frantic Emma.

"What is this?" she pushed me back.

"What?" I asked in confusion. I don't know if my brain is working slower because I just woke up or if it's because- yeah no, I don't know.

"This?" She pointed to her neck.

"It's a hickey," I shrugged.

"Really? I had no idea," she said sarcastically before smacking a pillow in my face.

"Why are you freaking out?" I asked in confusion. She just looked at me till it hit me. "Oh," I said slowly, "Right," I nodded, "Cover it up with that makeup thing, foundation?" I guessed.

"Concealer," she corrected.

"You get what I'm saying," I shrugged.

"Nick, I did," she huffed.

"You did what?" I asked. Like I said, my brain is a little slow today.

"I did cover it up with a concealer, this is all I can do," she groaned.

"Ask Zoey," I shrugged.

"I can't believe I'm actually doing this, it's nine am," she groaned while standing in front of Zoey's door. She didn't want to ask for her help, she got shy and she says she didn't but she did. She blushed.

I rang the bell twice before Zoey answered it.

"Nick," she glared at me before letting Emma in. "Shoo," she pushed me back.

"Please," I whined.

She rolled her eyes while letting me in, "How can I help?" she sighed.

"I need your concealer," Emma dug through what I'm assuming is her makeup bag.

"I didn't bring any, I stole Madeline's, she bought a new one at the airport so I took hers," Zoey shrugged.

"Either way, I need it," Emma huffed.

"Why?" Zoey asked confusion painted all over her face.

"For something," Emma shrugged.

Zoey looked at me and I pointed to my neck. "Oh, it's a love bite," she nodded.

"Yeah," Emma huffed while glaring at me. She loved it, she doesn't love having to hide it.

"I can cover it up but what do I get?" Zoey arched an eyebrow at her.

"What do you want?" Emma asked.

"I want this asshole to mention nothing about me and Landon."

"Fine," I sighed in defeat.
