《Alpha Theo || ✓》15 | the real monster

"Holly, you might not like what I tell you."

Theo has been trying to talk me out having this conversation and slowly but surely it was getting on my nerves.

Did he think I was too weak to learn what my pack was doing? Was I too weak to learn what my pack was doing?

"Oh for goodness sake Theo, fucking get on with it!" I growled, my wolf was slowly surfacing as she was getting just as agitated as I was. When it came to my pack, she was all ears-- the pack was our family, our heart.

Theo greeted me with growl of his own, his eyes flashing with specks of golden as the bright blue of his iris started to darken.

"Fine, but don't start crying when you realise how wrong you've been all your life." He barked out, his voices slightly shook the room and it was clear that his wolf was inches from coming out. The back and forth we had, I knew I was constantly disrespecting his authority by speaking to him like this but I couldn't help it.

Especially when my family was involved. He doesn't have control over him, much to his dismay.

I flinched back slightly and inched away from him on the bed, the intensity of his voice frightening me for a moment and I felt my wolf stumble slightly, whimpering at our mate's growling nature.

Theo seemed to notice as his eyes quickly brightened, his mouth slightly ajar as he watched my reaction. His jaw ticked as he watched me.

He sighed, making no more actions to get close but instead placing his arms on his knees as he faced the ground. I stared at his side-profile, waiting for him to begin.

Not complaining, his side-profile was godly.

"It's been hundreds years that our packs have been at each other's throats, you know it." He paused to look at me before looking back at the ground, staring at his carpet. "But after the rogue attacks years ago, the pack rivalry had fizzled out-- hell we helped you out with your rogue attacks." I was shocked, I never knew that our packs had once teamed up and worked together in order to survive. The attack happened years before I was born.

"But something happened," It was clear that the story was quickly moving into uncomfortable territory by the way Theo was fiddling with his hands and gulping before he spoke. "Your Luna, your mother, was taken by a group of rogues and so was my father's sister-- Nadine. Your pack was going crazy trying to find your mother and my pack was helping because we would able to recover my aunt Nina but we weren't ready for what we were going to see.

"Your mother was the first to get saved, hell I think that was all your pack wanted-- your pack didn't care for Nadine, they attacked and found your mother then left our pack to pick up the pieces but not before we saw something absolutely heart breaking.

"Seconds before your mother was saved, she was with Nadine and they were both being held together in the same room. Seconds before your pack had rescued your mother, a warrior of our pack watched as your mother had killed Nadine- point blank with one of the rogues' gun, in the head. Nina was dead instantly.

"Your pack didn't even blink once when they saw Nadine, all they cared about your mother it was like they forgot that we were helping them, that we were the reason that your mother was found in the first place!" Theo's voice had risen throughout the story, it was clear he was getting angry. Slowly I placed my hand on his shoulder as he continued, his shaking body and unsteady voice had calmed down the second we touched and I felt our warmth combining with each other.

Theo continued. "After that, my father went insane. His only living blood left was ripped from him by the very pack he was helping. He felt betrayed and he felt as if he needed to avenge his sister." He sighed, looking at me for the moment. "I can't justify what my father had done, what he done was cruel and there are no words that had to explain why he would do such things but trust me when I say your father was just as worse."

I bit my tongue when I made a move to defend my father, Theo hadn't finished his story and I didn't want to rude-- no matter how much I wanted to protect and defend the man that raised me.

"My father had done terrible things in his reign, there was no doubt about it. He didn't wait to start war with your pack, but it was wrong time wrong place." Theo paused and I couldn't help but notice a crack in his voice as the knuckles tightened in a fist. "He was a stupid man, he was so blinded by the death of his sister that he would do anything to avenge his blood-- even make children and women fight in his battles.

"The only right thing that my father done was telling my mother to stay in the pack house while they fought, while he was blinded by hatred he still thought and loved my mother with all in his heart, and he would do anything to keep her safe. But it wasn't enough.

"My father had everything planned out, he knew what to do and how to do it. He was ready to end your pack's existence. He was too busy ripping through your pack to notice that the pack house had been broken in to and my mother was taken. He didn't know.

"He was seconds away form ending your mother's life, the true reason of everything she was the one that killed Nadine, when a little girl had ran out of the house at the sight of your mother on the ground. My father was a cruel, cruel man but not once did he lay a hand on a child.

"The little girl pushed herself in front of your mother, and my father couldn't do anything, he refused to harm the little girl. And that was when he heard that your father had his mate-- my mother." Theo's teeth gritted, and I knew that we were getting to a territory where Theo's anger would come out. It was obvious his mother was a soft spot.

"When my father finally found yours, my mother was bruised and bloody. They tortured her for god knows long and she could barely stand. She was broken. It wasn't until your father slit my mother's throat did my father lose it. He couldn't even fight properly." Theo was seething as I kept quiet, my mind through a whirlwind.

"My father was so overwhelmed of the crash of their mate bond breaking, at the sight of losing his mate by the hand of his enemy, he had no energy to fight out and one by one his limbs were ripped apart." Theo's voice was shaky. "And do you know how I know about all of this?" He looked back at me, his cheeks were moistened by his tears and his eyes were almost puffy as his shoulders slightly shook. "I was there. I had followed my father, and I had watched him when he was attacked and I followed him when he bought to my mother. I watched your father kill my mother in cold blood and I watched him to do the same thing to my father as he cried out in pain at losing his one and only." My mouth was dry and I was lost for words.

"I was only six." Theo added, tears were constantly flowing down his cheeks and his voice was cracking with every word as he recalled losing his family. "And do you know the best part, the sugar on top of the cake, the cherry on top?" His tongue ran over his lips for a moment.

"My mother was pregnant." I didn't notice it until then, but my cheeks too were stained with tears of my own as more tears blurred my vision.

My father was as cruel as to kill a pregnant woman? In front of her mate? Was the man that raised me this cruel, was the man that I held so dear to me so horrid as Theo said?

"Theo, I--"

"I lost everything that day. I lost my mother, I lost my father, I lost my baby sister. All I had left was my big brother and my little sister that was only months old when she lost her family. And even now, your pack took the only man I look up to, my brother-- your pack keeps destroying what I hold dear to me. Your pack stole that from me, your father stole that from me." Theo broke down in his hands, hiding his face from me as he cried.

I realised any words that I spoke wasn't going to do anything. I forced him to reopen a wound because I wanted to know the truth of my pack, I forced him to relive losing his family.

I shuffled closer to my crying mate as I laid an arm on his shoulder, his head falling in to my chest as he started to lean on me for support. He no longer cried in his hands but sobbed in my lap, his arms wrapping around my body as I circled my arms around his neck, nestling my head on top of his hair as he continued to let out his emotions.

I, on the other hand, silently cried as I breathed in his scent through his hair.

All this time I believed he was the monster when in reality--

-- it was my father.
