《Eureka》⇜ Chapter Nine ⇝

It was the morning of the big party, everything was going well for you, Billy, and Stu. Well, about well as you can be after discovering that your two boyfriends have a body count and intend to make it higher. Sidney and Tatum haven't been talking to you much anymore- but that wasn't because they were suspicious of you and their partners, it was just because of everything Sidney was going through. She would hardly talk to anyone but Billy and Tatum, and even then her relationship with Billy was rocky at best.
You sat in English, watching out the window as the teacher went over the chapter overview for this month's biggest novel. You weren't paying much attention, as you got through the entire book during a free period and have already completed the small novel.
"And that's the complete wrap up of chapter 5, you should have the complete chapter 6 analysis in your notebooks done by tomorrow when you come into class. If you didn't do it today, you can finish it tonight for partial credit- which is always better than a complete zero!" The teacher walked across the room and slapped the desk of an unlucky student who didn't get enough sleep last night and was zoning out, head on his desk.
The bell wrung after a few seconds, the teacher calling out after students for them to make sure they finish their due work since grades are due for the quarter soon. You hear her call your name as your packing your things into your arms, and you glance over at her across the sea of students rushing off, seeing her gesturing for you to come over to her table.
You nod a bit and pull you and your stuff over to her, waiting for the last of the students to leave before you two can speak.
She signs, walking behind her table and glances at you "You haven't submitted your essay for the college plus classes yet, if you don't do it soon you're going to lose your chance, you know?"
You nod a bit glancing down at her pens purely out of the desire to avoid the intense eye contact she was trying to lay on you "Yes, I know that, it's just with everything happening it's a bit crazy for me right now, I kind of forgot about it all, honestly. Between what happened this month and everything happening with my friend Sidney, it's getting a little crazy."
She nods "You are friends with that group now, huh? I never really picked you to be that type, but I guess it isn't all that shocking. Other than... you hanging out a lot with that Loomis and Macher. That was a big shock to see from you."
You glance up at her, clenching your fist "Is it so shocking? The police thought so too, they are dead set on sending my best friend to prison. He isn't so bad, you know? He's actually really caring." You retort.
She frowns at you and shakes her head "I didn't mean anything by it-"
"You're one of my favorite teachers, really. But I've heard a lot of opinions about my best friends, and about how I'm too much of a promising student, and how I shouldn't waste my time on them. But they are the best thing to ever happen to me. It just proves how much other people know what's best for me." You say plainly "I'll have that essay in by the due date, don't worry."

You turn and quickly walk out, ignoring the teacher shouting your name and telling you to wait a moment, you could hear the shock in her voice. She never expected you to snap like that, nobody ever really did I guess, other than Stu and Billy.
You quickly head for the library to meet up with the two boys, waving to them as you see them sitting with each other "Hey, (Y/n), did the hear the rumor? We might get a little time off school for everything going on, for the 'safety of the student's, they say." Stu says with a grin patting the seat besides him.
You grin a bit "That'll make the party a lot easier, won't it? What about breaking curfew, though?"
"They won't bat an eye at it, we are going to have a small meeting of friends, too many people for a killer to get to, don't you think?" Billy remarks with a small smirk. You grin back and give him a nod as you sit down.
"I can't wait," You say happily "Let's hope it's a good time. Hopefully Randy won't bother us too much about his horror movie nonsense."
"You're wishing for the impossible, he's already got a whole collection picked out from the movie store." Stu says with a small eye roll, causing you to let out a small chuckle.
"Are Sidney and Tatum for sure coming?" You asked "Do they even know about this whole thing yet?"
Billy shakes his head "I'm going to get Stu to do it, Sidney and I had a little fight the other day so she isn't in the mood to see me. She will tonight, though, I know it. Tatum will convince her that it's 'just what she needs' and I'll show up as an uninvited guest."
You nod a bit "Okay. When should I come?"
They both look at each other "Actually, we wanted you to come about two hours before the party starts. Think you can do that?"
"Sure," You say "Why?"
Stu avoids eye contact, suddenly speaking quietly "Well... We really are sure about this whole thing, really sure, but..."
Billy nods speaking in the same hushed tone "It's basically foolproof, but... If things are to go wrong, and something happens, well- we just wanted to see you before everything goes down. One last time, really. If you black out, and we aren't there with you, or if something goes wrong and we are in jail, we just wanted to make sure the last time we see you isn't just when one of us knock you out."
You gulp a bit, you never really thought of what would happen if they failed. I mean, you just knew knew you were going to be knocked out, the rest of the plan was a complete blur to you. They could end up arrested if things went wrong, or worse. It could get ugly really fast if someone found them out before anything went down. If they failed to kill Tatum and she was able to get out and spread the word, a number of things could go wrong, even with all their confidence.
"O-Oh, that makes sense..." You mumble "But that won't happen, right?"
Billy and Stu both look back up at you and nod, both with wide grins.

"Everything is going to be just fine, I'm sure of it." Stu says taking your hand and patting it a bit "It's all just in case, right Billy?"
"Yeah, all just in case." He repeats with a small nod, grinning at you "We are going to get out of this town, and you're going to be a great artist."
"Artist?" You ask with a chuckle "I don't know what I want to major in yet."
He nods "I know, you say that a lot; but I love your art. I want to see you making a lot more of it."
You feel your cheeks warm a bit "Really? I didn't know you liked it so much."
"I've seen your ceramics projects. You spend so much time with writing, but you're so talented with sculpting." He says quietly messing with your fingers "I think people would love your work."
You grin wide "Thanks, Billy. I never knew you thought that about my work."
"I think your work is hot, too!" Stu chimes in after a moment of obviously zoning out.
You chuckle softly shaking your head "Thanks, Stu." You say patting his cheek "I can always count on you for some good, heartfelt commentary."
"You can't blame me, I smoked like two g's before I got here-"
"You smoked weed?" You quietly scold him, making sure it wasn't possible for anyone to hear "You guys are pulling off a mass murder tonight and you thought it would be a good idea to smoke weed? You're kidding right?"
"Stu I literally told you not to do that every day this week-" Billy groans "Whatever, it's not like your brain cells work any better when you're sober."
Stu glares at him weakly "And what is that supposed to mean? Huh?"
"You're a dumb ass and you know it-"
You roll your eyes getting up "I have to go get ready for my next period. I'll see you guys again tonight, right after school I'll head to your place, okay, Stu?"
He breaks his glare with Billy and smiles at you "Yeah! It's going to be crazy cool!"
You grin patting both of their heads and heading off to your locker, your mind swimming with the plans for tonight.

"Hey, (Y/n)?" Sidney asked walking up to your locker.
You grin softly, turning to face her "Hey, Sid! You need something?"
She shakes her head "Yeah, but it's nothing important. I just wanted to ask, since they've been hanging out with you so much, how Billy is doing? He hasn't been talking to me much, we had a bit of a fight but he seems really upset with me, he just won't communicate with me about it."
You frown a bit, putting a hand on her shoulder "You did nothing wrong, if that's what you're worried about. Billy is just stressed out, is all. He got pinned as a killer- not just by you, but by a bunch of people that don't even know him. That's a lot for someone to handle."
She nods brushing a hand through her hair "I feel terrible. I just was so scared. And with everything going on right now I really don't know what to think."
You nod a bit "That's understandable, you're going through a lot. Don't worry, Sidney, I'm sure it will wrap up soon and we'll be back to living our normal lives."
You felt a horrible guilt in your stomach, of course it would all be wrapped up soon, your boyfriends were going to murder their ex girlfriends and you guys are leaving the state. Sidney was your friend, but you knew there was very little you could do to stop Billy and Stu at this point. They seemed to have been planning this for a very long time, and unless you wanted to get involved with the cops and have your partners arrested, taken away from you probably for life, there wasn't anything you could do.
You just pull Sidney into a tight hug "Don't blame yourself for anything, Sid, really. You both are just going through the worst of it and Billy's been taking it out in the only way he knows how, making a huge scene out of everything."
She chuckles a bit at that, but the laughter sounds a small bit stressed "Thanks, (Y/n), you're right, you really are. I'll sit and talk to him about everything soon enough, I just don't know when he's going to be ready for any of that."
"He's bad at that, it's just because of the way he saw his parents interact growing up, I'm sure. They were never very communicative, so he doesn't really vent a lot. It's always ended in fighting for him." You say "It's all unfamiliar to him."
She nods pulling away from the hug slowly "You guys are really close, huh?"
You chuckle a bit "Yeah, me him and Stu hang out all the time. I guess it's just because we have such similar interest. They are losers, but they're probably my best friends- obviously you guys are, too! I'm just not as close to you and Tatum and Randy, I guess. I'm really bad a girl talk."
She chuckles "Yeah, can't argue with you there. You tried talking to Kaitlin about the the football game last week and ended up making her cry."
You groan burying your hands into your face "God, Yeah, I didn't mean to really I just- really, really suck at understanding most people, I guess."
"You understand Stu, though. Even Tatum can't do that." She jokes "So you must be doing something right."
You giggle a bit "Yeah, I guess you're onto something there."
The bell right above your locker rings, causing you to jump a small bit, immediately groaning from the false scare "Man, all this slasher garbage has got me jumpy. I hope all this ends so I get a full night sleep soon." You excuse yourself shaking your head lightly and gathering the last of what you need from your locker quickly.
"You said it," Sidney chuckled "I gotta get to English, see you again soon?"
You nod. You wanted to say 'I sure hope' but you just barely held yourself back, instead saying; "Yeah, have a good day at class Sid!"
You head off the class, focusing on enjoying your last normal day before everything was bound to go wrong. You hoped, maybe today would feel just a little bit normal. But the sinking feeling in your stomach just kept growing;
After that final bell today people were going to start dying.
