《The hidden warrior》Chapter 21

After we got off the helicopter me and Jason were escorted by some Hydra agents in disguise. They looked like normal civilians and I was worried about walking around in our gear. I mean none of our weapons were showing but it wasn't the normal attire people wear on a day-to-day basis. I knew this from looking at others. And there was something nagging at the back of my mind whilst looking at others and feeling a familiarity between different clothes. Fortunately we got no weird glances which confused me. I'd have to research that or maybe ask a superior. Nevertheless I continued on my journey as there was nothing special about their clothes and ours and that I had a mission to complete.
After walking around for 20 minutes and seeing some of the coolest things I have ever seen we were in the hotel. On the walk over here I saw many nice buildings. I felt at home. I think this is where i used to live. But i cant be sure anymore as my memories are jumbled at the minute.
I mean was I shocked we had a pretty bad looking hotel? No it's the way to stay less conspicuous. I am annoyed about it? Yes! Of course I am. I feel as though the only things I've seen in my life is the walls of the red room. I mean I do remember my old life, but recently it's been blurring a lot as new memories are being made. I want to experience the world and make even better memories. Maybe with that boy Peter I always seem to remember. He is the only clear thing in my memories. His face and voice. But I'll think about him when I am in the clear. I needed to complete this mission. Then I will be closer to maybe leaving the institute as I pay off my debt. I would then find my mom. She's always in my mind. I can't believe she's dead. Where would her body be buried? We only had each other so there was no one to do that sort of stuff for her. I am angry that she was never there in my life. I don't think I can forgive her for wasting and making my life hard when she didn't need to. With that thought i felt anger coursing through my veins. That memory of her always prepares me for missions and getting into my no mercy headset. Even more so than usual.
Whilst we were walking around Emma was in shock for the most of it. She looked like an idiot. She looked like the worst tourist. I mean it does help cover ourselves from drawing bad attention, but it's embarrassing to be seen with her. She better not mess this up for me. I need this. I need her to help. She needs to hold up her end of the bargain. We turned up at our hotel which was a little shabby and her smile disappeared? It was cute but what did she expect? She's apparently been in the buisness long enough so she should know that we don't stay in 5 star hotels. We can't draw attention like that. I'm starting to think I'm gonna have to be extra careful with her. She's an idiot. But the superiors trust her and so I have to as well.
With that we entered the hotel where the man gave me another file, told us where everything we needed was and left. It was only us.
For a while we just stared at each other wondering what to do. Our mission was at 12pm and it was currently 9. Her big blue eyes were shining and I couldn't help but stare. She looked away and I felt my heart move? Move why is it moving? My heart is stopping and I'm getting angry about it.

"How about you go and get changed now that we have arrived and didn't have to fight anyone on our way here and then you stay on that side of the room. Then I go and get changed and I stay on my side afterwards. Then when it's 11 I'll make lunch and then we'll head off?" I said in the nicest tone I could muster. I don't want her mad at me yet I needed to be in control of this situation. She needs me and my help. I know it.
She agrees with me and goes and grabs the clothes on the bed for her and goes into the bathroom to change.
I slump down on the bed. Ever since this mission I have been feeling new emotions and I don't like them. It's obviously because of her. I know what these feelings could be but I don't want to believe it. And so I will treat her as I treat anyone else I do missions with. We will never see each other again and so it's worthless. I do not deserve her anyway.
She comes back in silently to the room and she looks somehow even better in these clothes. God Jason get her out of your head!
And that's what I did. I got changed and ignored her for the rest of the time we had. I read the file over and over. I only gave her the packed lunch that I had in my backpack for us. It wasn't great but I'm used to it and she should be as well. I packed my back with my tech and as the time turned 11:30 we left the hotel in office work attire ready to be fake interns in Stark industries. I'm still baffled on how Hydra managed to get us access like this. It's respectable. Yet at times I still want out. But I know I can't.
Ever since entering the hotel, Jason has seemed really cold and so i decided to give him the same treatment. He became very demanding, and didnt even speak to me again after that. Not even when he gave me my lunch. It was bland as usual. It was a turkey sandwich, with fruit and carrots. I just read over my notes.
As 11:30 hit, on our wristwatches, we both acknowledged each other and that it was time to leave. We both had concealed weapons just in case, yet nothing in our bags due to the fact that would draw to much suspicion if the guards found our guns in there. The guns can pass through metal detectors yet we know the security will be tight there, and so if the weapons are on our person we can adjust them accordingly in order to not get caught. We have no intention of causing any harm to anyone, innocent or not. Yet if they get in our way we will have to take them down. No witnesses will survive.
We both took our previously packed bags and headed out making sure to close the door behind us. Again i was met with silence. I bet Peter would talk to me. We barely glanced at each other, and didnt go over our plan as we already knew it. There could be no mistakes.
As we got closer, i got a little nervous. I mean this was nothing I couldn't handle but if something went wrong this is the absolute worst place to be. This is the enemy's territory. It was nearing 11;50 when we walked in to the building. We were met with security where we were allowed through with no problem as we hid our weapons expertly and could still move them discreetly if needed. I had only been in this business for a couple of months but god it really does make you work and learn new things at an incredibly fast pace. I never realised how much pain my body was in on a daily basis. At first I thought i was dying, but you eventually get used to it. But these 10 hours without the constant training and ballet has made my body feel freer. If only for a short while.

As we made it in, there were about 15 other kids there. We were all gathered into a group and then one by one called over to the receptionist to state our name and other information. Me and Jason were called close to last. I was under the alias of Isabelle Dawson, age 16 from New York with the phone number for a guardian, as one of the hydra spies in the local area. The same was for Jason just tweaked. We then received our intern passes. All in all Stark's security wasn't great but this was when the real adventure began. As we received our "fake" places in this program we apparently had the highest test results and stuff like that and so we would be working at a higher level, and so closer to the Avenegrs and their data.
I mean let's be real why do the Avenegrs live in a really big building that could get damaged? I mean i know some of them can fly off the roof, but some can't. What would they do if they were too late to save one another? It's stupid if you ask me. They are in plain sight in a manic place from what I've witnessed. They should go somewhere more secluded or more people like us could enter. I would definitely like to have a chat about the interior structure of their building. In my opinion its ugly and awful.
Anyway, it took us a while to get to the right floors. I mean these people are supposedly supposed to be the smartest of their age, yet seeing them try to fit into an elevator, even though it was plenty big enough it had to have been the best thing I've ever seen. Even Jason has a little smile on his face. We were in the back of the elevator and that was good due tot he fact we were going the highest. Everyone else had left on different floors with people waiting to escort and help them. It was only us and the guide. She did introduce herself this morning but i wasn't really paying attention. But it was fine cause Jason obviously knew. God he's so annoying.
But it's fine i mean he might be cute but as soon as this is over and I'm free I'm going to live my life and not have a second thought about him. I was broken out of my trance as we were ushered out of the elevator. We were taken into an office where there were 2 seats and lots of equipment. There were scientific things, whiteboards, computers and more of the same stuff.
"Hello you 2 welcome to Stark Industries. As it has once been mentioned you 2 had the highest grades and such, and so you guys will be doing some personal stuff for Mr Stark. He has requested that you 2 solve the equations on the far wall by the end of the day in order for him to see where to place you in the upcoming months. You may even get to work with Stark yourself! Anyway, there is a coffee machine 2 floors down and the canteen is open all day. You may do 2hat you like as long as you try your best. We do not appreciate tome wasting here. Also if you need me then just ask Jarvis. He is activated by you saying "hey Jarvis" but please do not try to use him very frequently. That is all, and i hope you have fun! Bye!"
And with that she walked out. "So um who was that?" I asked Jason.
"Okay, uh thank you i guess ill go and work on the equations so we can have more time to collect any data you can't get off fo these computers. Fair enough deal? We'll leave when we have both finished?"
With that i walked away and went to do my work. He is so rude! But I guess i need his tech skills in order to complete the mission. That's what's stopping me from strangling him so far.
He set up his equipment whilst i went to work. He was going to hack into the database through the WiFi whilst trying to remain hidden. Hopefully everything we need is here, so our job is easier. I mean mine was challenging. I was done after 2 hours of solving 5 equations which is as happy with. And so i spent my time watching Jason do what he needed. He was very invested so i didn't disrupt him.
After another hour and me doodling on the white board Jason was finally done. Yet unfortunately there was still 2 pieces of data we still needed and it was on the next 4 floors up. Jason pulled up the security feed that showed a lot of guards.
"How do we go about this then?"
"Isn't it?"
"Okay! Sorry, you were saying coffee monster"
I'm pretty sure i saw steam come out of his ears. I love winding people up, and there no one to punish me for it here. I know i used to live off coffee but not anymore. I wonder if it still tastes how I remember it?
"Yes sir, message received loud and clear!" I couldn't help but laugh
And with that and Jasons icy yet warm look we headed off. I stayed hidden whilst Jason made a complete fool of himself looking like a caffein-addict and ranting about how he needed it. Best. Day. Ever. Ive never laughed so much in my life!
As he did that i snuck all the way to the back of the tech room, trying to find the data needed. It wasn't hard as i can understand computers fairly easily. All i did was stick the thumb drive in and put the code that Jason gave to me in and all i had to do was wait. All in all it took about 2 minutes. Getting everything was easy. Getting back out was the hard part. Most guards had crowded around a specific place to see the commotion that was going on, and so most exits were blocked.
Me and Jason made eye contact and he seemed to understand my problem and so he started running. He fell face first! Talk about me being an idiot!
Most guards went to go see if he was ok. I mean we aren't out of the wood yet as we have the rest of the building to get out of undetected. I wonder how Jason is going to get out of this. Ill just head back to our office room and come up saying I'm looking for my partner. Yeah! That's a great idea. I'm so smart! And with that i was in the clear to escape by staying by the darkness of the walls. But that's when it happened. That's when i questioned everything.
"Emma?"

8 108The Anthology
This is my collection of short stories. I ask what stories would my audience like to read and write whatever they post in the comments. I strive for more than two dimensional characters and I like to make my stories somewhat unique. The first six entries are my experiment to just write without stopping and see what comes out. They can serve as an introduction for the reader to me as a thinker and writer. Although it should be known that the majority of those entries were written in a foggy state of mind. Entry seven is where my short stories begin.

8 184Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
