《A Baby For The Beast》53. Clash

It was just like I was in a foreign land.

Bloodsheds.

Angst.

Troop of horses running.

The air smelled of death. Death in the simplest form, and when I looked around, it didn't seem like anyone could see me.

"W-what's happening?"

My eye brows cringed at the confusion scattered everywhere, with my hands shakily reaching out for my pup. My wolf hearing, heightened suddenly. A zooming arrow flew towards me and my paws extended, throwing it the other way, in reflex.

Grasping my belly, growling in a protective stance. It was then I realized I had to go away from this chaos.

"AVAAA..."

My eyes bolted, looking towards where the voice was coming from. It was just behind me. A figure, clothed in the purest of all clothing. White and immaculate to the core, with a shimmer like substance all over it.

I wondered who she was. From her back view, it was much obvious she was a woman. One with a white and long hair, which was being embraced by the wind.

"Who are you?" I asked, yet, got no reply. I sighed, walking towards her in curiosity.

"Who are you?"

As I repeated those words, she turned to face me. Her features were sharp, almost like a Nymph's or Elves'.

"I'm the Goddess of the Moon, known to be the Moon Goddess. The creator of the Supernaturals."

T-the Moon Goddess?

I became on guard immediately, taking steps away.

"Do not fret, I'm not here to hurt you." she stated, her eyes scanning my entire being.

She wasn't here to hurt me? Then why was she here?

"I do not trust you. You betrayed our faith in you, and I can't and won't trust you."

I seethed viciously.

Another arrow flew through. I watched as the Goddess sighed. In a flash of an eye, she created a barrier, around the both of us. I moved to walk out of it, and find my way out of here.

"Emily sends her love."

I stopped in my tracks, at her words, feeling my heart soften.

"She says she understands you weren't at fault, by eliminating her. And you did what you had to do—"

"Stop it."

I cut her words immediately, feeling a pang of guilt washing through me.

"Jasmine extends her greatest wishes too. She says for you to trust me to make things right—"

"Stop it!"

I yelled at her, not knowing entirely what to do.

"How about Tabitha?! Or the rest of the girls that died? How about the fact that a brutal King made us eliminate ourselves?!"

"Ava, Ava," she started out, almost like marking off my words.

"Children of death never get a place with me. Theirs, is far beyond. To a place called The Plains. I shouldn't be associating with them."

The plains? What was she uttering?

"Did you even fight for them?" I asked instantly.

"My chakra only resonates with heroic deaths,"

She proudly said, her facial expression with a look of dismissal.

I flinched my eyes in hurt, at her statement.

Those girls... poor girls...

Why... just why?

No, I had to stand my ground. I had to, dammit.

"I-I won't be softened because you made mention of the ones close to my heart."

"Gotten." she breathed out, in response.

"You know what? Why don't you tell me why you're here? Why did you suddenly think to show up, after all this while?"

"Because you'll be helping me put an end to this." she spat out, walking towards me. Her hands reached to touch mine, but I tilted, moving away.

"What end are you talking about?" I asked firmly. "What are you proposing?"

"Your true destiny, Ava. Like your twin said, you're an original Scavenger. You're from the clan I created long time ago, to help get rid of the mistakes and vendetta to humanity." The Goddess uttered.

"Wolves, vicious beasts, vampires, witches. They are all mistakes. A danger to mankind, my child."

"But with you three, I want to build a better empire. A more vibrant and powerful dynasty. One which screams of death, that cannot be defied."

Her statement earned a bitter expression from me. I shook my head, narrowing my eyes at her words, which felt so much unreal. Whilst my heart, thudded faintly...

"I'm not interested in what you're proposing. If it involves killing people I care about, I'll Never.Ever.Do.It."

I seethed the last part, with gritted teeth and a look of vengeance. I got out of the barrier, beginning to go away from her with speed.

I climbed a horse, taking a sword from the body of a dead soldier.

"You can't run away from your destiny, child!"

She yelled.

"Caspian's my destiny. Our pup is my destiny. I'm choosing this. Why don't you leave us alone?" I cried out, as I rode, swallowing in hurt.

But she created a horse, going after me, as I rode.

I looked back, in a bit of a scare.

We had too many enemies already. Far too many, and if the universal being was turning her back on us, I knew we were screwed...

"I'm giving you an opportunity to be my daughter, Ava. If you hadn't noticed, we are both alike. Cunning, wise, manipulative, yet caring." she rushed out, with wind blowing vastly through her words. "And, that's what a nation needs."

"Never. We are nothing alike!!" I exclaimed immediately.

"Then I will take." she said.

"That one thing that made you useful since you came to the castle. That thing that made you rise to the top, as Knight and Queen!!"

The Moon Goddess yelled, riding ferociously towards me. Almost immediately, I felt something being extracted from me. It was entirely draining, thus, I screamed, in agony.

"Aaarrrgghhhh!!!!"

At that instant, a mighty pull oozed me out of that world, and I felt myself drifting away into something else.

"Ava? Ava... wake up."

Someone nudged me. I opened my eyes instantly, only to see Caspian right in front of me. It was dawn and he held a look of worry in his eyes.

"Cas...pian," I whispered.

I instantly wrapped my hands around him, holding him tightly. While his palms spread across my back, patting and rubbing.

"It's okay. You're safe, now, mate." he said, kissing my ear lobe. "No harm would come to you and our pup."

At the mention of our pup, my eyes widened in a scare.

I instantly withdrew from him, to check my pulse. I sighed, when I discovered, it was pulsating just fine with my child's.

"Ava, what is wrong? Talk to me... Please."

Caspian told me, swallowing a gulp and bulging his Adam's apple. My lips pressed together, in wonder at the Moon Goddess' words.

What rose me to the top, she said...

Hastily, I tried bringing out my paws, but nothing came out.

Wolf? I called out, but there was no response.

"Wolf!!!" I yelled this time, but it was futile.

I sprung up immediately, to the center of the room.

Caspian's curious gaze fell on me, as I tried to shift, but I couldn't. I tried to growl, but also couldn't.

"Is everything okay?" he faintly whispered.

He stood up, walking to me in worry, his silver-grey eyes staring into mine beautifully.

Yet... I felt like sobbing so hard.

"I lost my wolf."

Four words, I simply said.
