《A Baby For The Beast》43. Pacing Wedding

When I remembered Emily's death, all I did want to do was scream to myself for not avenging her properly.
She didn't deserve that.
In no doubt, she didn't. A death from her own best friend, because of a set-up.
But, with Caspian, I had re-assurance. That when I was his wife... when I was Queen, I would get the revenge I wanted.
Just like Caspian said, Nynaeve had made my gown. A white dress, just like the tale from the girl with Cinders.
It was the most beautiful gown I had ever seen— a sweetheart neckline, embedded with rhinestones, just at the waistline, going down the floor, like a powerful carpet.
While Caspian was dressed as a royal pirate. Didn't make any sense, but he insisted his attire came richly from a Captain's cap, trousers, cloth, jacket and literally everything including the majestic boots.
My mate looked just as if he stepped out of a contemporary romance novel.
As a prince charming would, even though it was far from that...
"Do you, Ava Knight, accept His Majesty, Caspian King, as your lawfully wedded husband?" The High Priestess asked, with the sacred nuptials in her hands.
"I do."
I answered formally, with my eyes locked with Caspian's silver-grey ones. Just where I felt at home— where I felt a sense of peace.
In this grand hall, and massive celebration. With the people I wanted to see. Mum was to come with Moses, today. It would be a surprise, that I was marrying the beast, so I didn't inform her.
She would find out in the night party.
"You may say your vows, Knight." The High Priestess, added.
"I, Ava Knight..."
As I read those words, it was almost like I felt the world pause. My heart raced; lips quivered, and my hands shook from being nervous. I found myself worrying so much, that something would go wrong.
My wolf urged me to relax. Was having a hard time doing so.
"...from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health. To love, cherish, and to obey..."
And then I felt his hands on mine.
Caspian's.
Looking at me, then down to our baby. Even if the bump hadn't started growing. And it was still a secret, it was a look of assurance. From him. That it would be okay. But would it? There were so many enemies at lose.

His father, Lydia. The ex-bishop and Rook.
"You may say your vows, Your Highness." The Priestess repeated.
"I," he started off.
Just as he did, my lips pressed together, smiling at him, afterwards. I swallowed, as he continued.
"Caspian King, take thee, Ava Knight to be my wedded wife. To have and to hold, from this day forward. For better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health."
"To love, cherish, and to obey, till death us do part, according to Moon Goddess' holy ordinance." he finalized.
I looked around just as he did. I made sure the castle was heavily guarded, as the Knight. The best of fighters was present, including Elder Zu.
So was Nynaeve.
We didn't know when Lydia would decide to attack, thus, we had to remain careful and alert.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here to witness the marriage of two prominent figures, in the castle. And we are aware there can't be a more powerful pairing to a man, than his mate." she said, as we held each other more closely.
"Is there anyone that objects this union?"
The minute the High Priestess constructed those words, everywhere became utterly silent. Whilst I looked around. At Jaskier, who was just beside Caspian, representing his parent. Then at Piper, who represented me, as the closest person to me.
One by one, at everyone. Cassie, Tania, Nynaeve, also, the woman with a rich dark skin, who signed our names the other day. Helen too, from the ship the other day, who had an expressionless look.
"None!"
One of the girls suddenly exclaimed.
While the others jeered in support. I arched my brows in surprise as she stepped forward.
"Knight Ava has been good to us. She stopped the killings and is motioning for us to be sent back and educated." Another girl added, stepping forward too. "Defending our country from hard core bandits, giving the pawns and peasants, a chance."
"We couldn't have asked for a better Queen, to be by the King's side."
"I know you don't see it, Ava. But we all do. T-thank you..." Piper choked out, adding. "For everything."
She added. The jeers followed afterwards. Tears flowed from my eyes, at the sight. We might have rehearsed some steps in, but this certainly wasn't planned out.

I looked at Caspian, who nodded in support, batting his eyelids. Then back at the girls. Then to the villagers.
I've been too emotional these days. Perhaps it was a drawback of pregnancy. But with these joyous tears of mine, felt like a perk.
"With the desire of the Moon Goddess, I now pronounce you, man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Caspian's hands reached to unveil me, after her words. He paused a bit, whispering some words.
"Don't even know what to say, Lady Ava." he muttered softly kissing my ear lobes, in front of his loyal subjects.
"That day on the sea...from our first meeting. While I was Captain Caspian, you stole my heart, right from first glance."
"When you told me, we'll christen your castle?" I chuckled, saying.
"Absolutely not that." In a serious tone this time, he voiced. "While you were passed out, after we found you."
He said, taking my lips in his. My hands rested on his broad shoulders and his hands encamped around my waist. This kiss was like a seal between us, and it felt so much like truth and connection.
We began the marching, immediately. While the Royal entourage sprayed some scenting roses at our every step, as newly-weds. And, the band drummed, making a flamboyant formation.
"I ordered a separate room for you, out of jealousy. Didn't want other males on board, ogling you." Caspian extended his hands on my lower back as he said it.
"I wanted you so bad, that I put those shell of pretense, staying away. But my beast? It killed my beast."
"Why are you telling me this now?" I said, raising my voice, so he could hear amidst the noisy background.
"Don't want any more secrets between us." he stated, authoritatively. "Deal?"
"Surely!" I retorted, in spite of the fact that I didn't tell him about Lydia's presence in his life, as his step mother.
"Prepare for the night celebration!" I came forward announcing.
Now I was Queen, it meant so much responsibility was bestowed on me.
Didn't want to let my subjects down at all cost.
...
"The band may begin, playing." A male announced.
Specially made him in charge of the musical section, after looking up his history of melodious performances.
My eyes looked, wandering around. I sent a ship and carriage to get mum, with Moses. They would be arriving soon. My heart paced, raced, out of nervously.
I had taken the white dress off.
The one I had on, was a blue piece which was lengthy. Specially chose that color after remembering Cassie's compliment, about my raven hair, and the stars in the sky.
The evening party had an air, that made me remember the dance. The Great Dance. Had this sort of air, that reminded me so much of it.
"Why did you pick me that day?"
I said, right on my throne, next to Caspian. "Did you already know I was your mate?"
"No"
"No?"
"But I felt drawn to you. Appalled by your beauty, almost like I couldn't get enough. It was torturous, yet the best feeling ever."
As the musicals played, I made my wolf study everything around closely while I listened to my mate. He sure had a way with words, and I knew I could be really distracted, from noticing everything that went on in the castle.
"Come with me." he suddenly said.
"To where? We are the protagonists of this event, remember, Your Highness?"
"It won't take much time, trust me." I giggled as he pulled my hands with his. He made his way to the balcony which was just beside the throne room.
The midnight sky was dark, filled with stars which outshone brilliantly with a half-moon staring at us.
"Can't believe I found you. Finally." Caspian let out, snaking a hand around my waist. I pulled out of his hold, hugging him from behind.
"Always wanted to do this."
Just as I said those words, my wolf begun to grow so restless. A gust of wind blew, and a part of the room, outshone into a pinkish color. So bright.
"Your father gives his final warning, Caspian. He says he forgets the blood ties, once the war starts." The room suddenly echoed.
Someone who hid so well, came out from the dark, with a lengthy cloak, as a fugitive would wear.
"L-Lydia?"
"Guess I wasn't invited to the party." she smirked, saying.
