《Jenlisa | Guide To Raising The Sick Villain》68

It was getting colder every day, but no matter how cold it got, it didn’t seem to affect a boy’s enthusiasm for basketball.
Although the teachers have always warned everyone not to play basketball, due to the ground being frozen in winter and thus making it easy for one to get injured, as long as it didn’t snow there would always be people on the basketball court.
Everyday, Jennie would pass by the basketball court, but at a glance, she only saw some underclassmen whom she had never met. This was because most seniors didn’t have time to play basketball these days.
While she was talking to Gaeul on the way to the classroom, she glanced at the basketball court, and at a glance, she saw the fat white boy among a group of tall and thin boys.
TN: White in this context means wealthy and healthy. This is because back in the day being tan meant you worked outside in the fields which meant you were most likely poor. Being white meant you were at home most of the time and didn’t need to work hard.
Seungmin.
She hadn’t seen Seungmin for a long time. From what she could see, Seungmin was a lot taller, but he seems to be thinner than before. He was no longer the short and round boy from before, but a tall and strong fat man. Watching his figure holding a basketball and running around on the court looked extremely tiring.
Jennie was a little surprised. She didn’t expect Seungmin to play basketball. But, it was only a passing thought, he had nothing to do with her after all. So with that, she turned her head and left the matter behind.
It wasn’t until nearly ten days later that the sound of an ambulance suddenly rang out at the school, causing many students to look out curiously.
The ambulance came and left quickly. After class was let out, everyone was curious to find out what had happened. The school rumor mill was quick to work, and by the afternoon, almost everyone knew what had happened.
A high school student fell while playing basketball and was seriously injured. The PE teacher was immediately frightened and dialed 120 directly.
TN: Is the dial number for the police in China.
All the teachers were dragged to an emergency meeting. When the next class was in session, the head teacher of the senior class used this incident as an example to strictly prohibit students from playing basketball.
The boys in class sighed, even if they wanted to play, they didn’t have time to play.
High school life was too boring and despite being the students with the highest seniority all of the good things in school were taken from them.
All the PE periods have been occupied by other teachers*, and various entertainment programs had been cancelled. For example, the popular New Year’s party was open to all the other grades, but unfortunately for the senior students they were excluded. But that wasn’t the worst of it, even their three day holiday had been shortened to one day!
TN: PE periods are basically time slots that allow students to just go out on the school grounds and do some exercise. For example, basketball, jump rope, walking, etc.
While the entire class was wailing at the unfairness of the world, Jennie glanced at Lisa, and saw that there was another thick book on Lisa’s desk.
Lisa had been holding this book every day recently.
Jennie had taken a look at it before and saw that it was a professional book about stock exchange, and it was not just a beginner’s guide, but a kind of in-depth one. Even Jennie, who had studied finance before, was stunned when she flipped through a few pages.

Gaeul sighed, before exclaiming that only Lisa could read for fun during this tense period of high school and still maintain his spot as first in the grade. After sighing, she curiously asked Lisa why he suddenly started studying stocks. In responde, Lisa said with a faint expression, “It’s very interesting.”
Jennie held her chin with her hand and looked at the delicate profile of the teenager, she thought back to when Lisa had specifically asked her why she wanted to study finance not long ago.
She said that it was because she was a little interested in stocks.
Although she learned after majoring in finance that studying finance was not very helpful for stock exchange, when she had applied for the exam, it was indeed for this reason. So when Lisa asked her she had answered that way.
If she remembered correctly, Lisa began to read books in this area, exactly the day after she said that.
Although Jennie warned herself more than once not to be so narcissistic, she still wondered if Lisa deliberately studied it because of her.
Jennie laid her head on her arms and stared at Lisa in a daze. It didn’t matter if she stared a little, the head teacher was busy wrestling with their grieving classmates.
Lisa was already sensitive to people’s sights. What’s more, Jennie had been staring at him for a long time.
With this knowledge in mind, Lisa became hyper aware of her eyes on him, and the speed of his heartbeat quickened rapidly. The fingers that were on his book, unconsciously rubbed his eyes, and his lips curved slightly into a small smile.
Lowered his head a little, turned his head to meet Jennie’s gaze, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing,” Jennie hurriedly said, shaking her head, before focusing her gaze on the book in Lisa’s hand, “Lili, after you learn it, remember to teach me.”
I originally learned it to teach you.
Lisa thought, but he didn’t say anything, instead nodding his head, not giving away a single clue as to what he was thinking.
Jennie stared straight at Lisa’s eyes, still not seeing anything abnormal in them.
Lisa didn’t show many expressions on his face, and so Jennie naturally learned to observe his eyes instead, and even then Jennie found them hard to read. But looking at them now, Jennie realized that from who knows how long ago, whenever Lisa was looking at her his eyes were always smiling.
Jennie shook her head, and cleaned up all of her messy thoughts. How could it be, it definitely couldn’t be.
On their one day off on New Year’s Day Aunt Chen called Jennie and asked her to come for dinner.
After classes on Saturday morning, Jennie and Lisa left school together. Many people stared as Jennie and Lisa got in the car and drove away.
By now everyone at school knew about the “love relationship” between the two, and gradually their surprise from the beginning gradually lessened until they became numb.
Ever since Jennie started her third year, the number of times she visited Lisa’s house had been reduced a lot. Due to this, when she finally had the chance to come for dinner Aunt Chen tried every means to supplement Jennie’s nutrition.
After eating, Jennie went to Aunt Chen’s room to read. It soon became twelve o’clock in a blink of an eye. Seeing how late it was, Jennie prepared to go to bed after packing up her things, but after laying down for a few minutes she got up again to go grab a drink.

The house was quiet and there was no one around. Jennie estimated that everyone should be asleep, so she didn’t turn the lights on, as to not disturb Aunt Chen and the others. But just as she came into the hallway, Lisa, who had just finished showering, came out of his room.
Jennie slammed her head on Lisa’s chest, and Lisa quickly grabbed Jennie’s arm with one hand and turned on the corridor light with his other hand.
The lights came on, and Jennie looked down at the hand and arm that was firmly gripping her arm.
Because Lisa’s home heating system was much stronger than that of the school, and coupled with how his floors were heated as well, Jennie had to wear a short sleeved shirt and a short skirt at his home.
The teenager who had just taken a shower was also wearing a sleeveless t-shirt. His previously thin arms were now covered with a layer of muscles that was further accentuated under the shine of his house lights.
Lisa’s hair was still damp due to having only half heartedly rubbing his hair with a towel. Because of this his face still had droplets of water from it from the steam.
Jennie looked up suddenly and because of Lisa’s sudden growth spurt, an ambiguous and unspeakable aura suddenly engulfed Jennie.
Suddenly becoming aware of the pheromones that Lisa exuded, Jennie blushed and her heart rate sped up.
Jennie was stunned for a moment, but then she noticed the high temperature on her cheeks.
Not wanting to let go of her wrist, Lisa pretended not to notice and asked her she had hit it.
Not knowing whether or not it was her own hallucination, but Jennie felt that Lisa’s voice was a little lower than usual. In such an atmosphere at night, her ears became more and more hot and she hurriedly shook her head and said it was all right.
Looking away from Lisa, she glanced at the room instead and felt calm enough to change the subject, “Why haven’t you slept yet?”
“I’m about to go to sleep,” Lisa said as his fingers lightly rubbed Jennie’s wrist, before he reluctantly let go and said, “
“Oh”, Jennie glanced down at her wrist and then at Lisa, who had a normal complexion. She didn’t dare look at Lisa’s face again, “I’m going to the kitchen to get some water, Lili, you should rest early. “
After drinking a glass of water, Jennie sat on the chair in the living room for a while until she heard the sound of Lisa returning to his room to close the door.
When she went back to bed though, the result was that she could no longer fall asleep despite tossing and turning around. Whenever she closed my eyes, the memory of Lisa’s touch as he held her wrist and the feeling of her arm against Lisa’s chest.
Lisa really had changed. He had grown taller and now had a stronger body. The ignorance and childishness he had before had disappeared. From the boy he once was, he had slowly become more and more like a man, which included a sudden spike in hormones that she couldn’t resist.
Jennie buried her head in the pillow irritably.
Stop, stop, have some control!
Study, study, study hard!
However, the more you want to forget something, the more you remember them.
Of course Lisa, the subject of Jennie’s dilemma, had no idea what was going on and continued to wear another black sleeveless T-shirt showing his two arms as he walked around the house.
_____
When Gaeul returned to the dormitory, she saw Jennie lying on the bed moping. Seeing her friend like this, she leaned over to ask her what’s wrong.
Jennie was silent for a long time, and said sincerely,”It’s so difficult.”
“What’s so difficult?” Gaeul asked, shocked.
“Ah, it’s nothing,” Jennie quickly denied and got up from her bed, “Let’s go, go to the classroom, study hard every day!”
Gaeul: ….
After New Year’s Day passed, it would soon be winter vacation in a blink of an eye. But the winter vacation of a high school student was short and the school stipulated that supplementary lessons must be attended.
On the twenty-eighth of the twelfth lunar month, after the end of the semester, the rest of the grades went home happily. Watching their schoolmates walk away happily from the windowsill the high school seniors choked back their tears silently and cursed at their misfortune.
The only consolation that they had was that there was no need for them to do morning exercises, so every day they could arrive at school a little bit late, and thus everyone got to sleep a little longer.
Besides, the school has not been too strict recently, so even if some students decided to leave campus the uncle who kept watch at the gate would close one eye and not say anything.
Lisa also came to class well, even though he didn’t listen to the lecture, he continued to study stocks.
Watching him read so intently Jennie curiously asked if he had tried to buy stocks yet.
“Yes,” Lisa said, “I use the money on your card.”
My card?
Jennie just remembered that he had given Lisa her bank card.
“Don’t worry, if I lose I’ll use my own money to supplement it, but if I win I’ll give it to you since it was your money.” Lisa explained with a smile.
Jennie smiled back at home in response, She knew she had nothing to worry about. She was just worried that her card had too little money for Lisa to use. After all, she only had 10,000 yuan saved there.
Jennie was a little curious, Lisa was so smart, but she didn’t know how good he was in respect to stocks, so she asked him with interest, “How’s the market?”
Lisa thought for a while and said, “It’s okay.”
Lisa’s ok meant that it was definitely not just okay, Jennie sighed, Lisa really was good at everything.
While the two were talking, a classmate suddenly called Jennie’s name and said that someone was looking for her. Jennie casually asked who it was and the classmate said, “It’s your mother.”
The smile on Jennie’s face suddenly disappeared cleanly.
After a moment of silence, Jennie turned and left the classroom.
No one else thought much of it, even Jackson, who was always paying attention to Jennie, didn’t think there was anything wrong.
Only Gaeul and Lisa, who knew about Jennie’s family situation, looked a little bit bad and turned their heads. Gaeul wanted to ask Lisa, but saw that Lisa had already stood up, and followed Jennie out.

(This story is a work in progress. As the first story that I have ever written, the beginning, especially the first ten chapters or so, needs heavy editing. I have decided to continue writing the story instead of going back and editing the beginning. I hope that despite all its flaws you will still find my story enjoyable.)

Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
