A special dedication to all the readers for sticking with Nyla and Darius till the end.

", we now have the suspect in F.B.I custody. We should be hearing his confessions soon enough." Agent Tessa said through the phone.

The void in Nyla's heart expanded, "Is it possible for me to listening in? I just can't believe he would do something like this, I just need to know why, to get some closure maybe."

There was silence on the other line. "You know what, forget it. I know you guys have protocols to follow. It's okay, forget I said anything." She rambled on.

Agent Tessa sighed. "It's frowned upon, but I know where you are coming from. We can have you with us behind the doors and that way you will be able to hear the confession."

"Thank you, I'll be there in a bit."

Nyla hung up the phone and hailed a cab to the New York location. The cabbie gave her a weird glance when she said the address, but she ignored it. Her stomach was clenched, and she was feeling a mixture of anger and hurt. She got out of the car and entered the building. Immediately, she went through an excessive screening before she was cleared to go.

"I'm here for a meeting with Agent Tessa," she said to the man at the front desk.

He glanced her once before looking back at his computer screen. "Someone will be here to pick you up but I'm afraid I need you to leave all metal items in a bucket."

Nyla dropped her keys and phone and Agent Tessa appeared moments later.

"You came quite quickly," the agent greeted her.

"I was in the neighbourhood."

Agent Tessa smiled at her joke before pointing her finger to a door. "Let's walk, there have been a change of plans."

Nyla fell into step beside her, "What happened?"

"We might need you to go inside and talk to the suspect. He has refused to say anything to us for the last two hours. Maybe seeing your face will break him."

Nyla nodded but she didn't say anything. They stopped at a sealed door and Agent Tessa grabbed her hand. "You don't have to do this if you don't want to. We can get the confession another way."

Nyla looked her in the eye. "I need to do this, even though I don't want to." She admitted.

"We will be watching from the other side of the mirror. If you feel uncomfortable, just knock twice on the table and someone will be able to get you out."

"Thank you," Nyla said softly before she steeled her features and entered the door.

"Hello, George."

Her chief operating officer looked quite different in handcuffs. Gone was the pristine suit and straight tie, instead it was replaced by someone who looked vengeful and unstable.

George smiled. "Good, you're here. I don't know what the fuck they think they have on me, but it all seems to be a misunderstanding—"

Nyla took a seat in the chair across from George. "It's not a mistake," she said softly. "You've been caught now."

George's face whitened. "What are you talking about?"

"The money laundering, factory explosion, bomb threat, competing bids, we know it was all you George."

George still didn't break his resolve. "You can't prove that I had anything to do with it."

Nyla didn't break eye contact. "Once the F.B.I caught up with Ted, he was more than willing to share all his secrets with us." She saw George's eyes flare up with fear, yet she continued. "He told us how you hired him to lie about who had been stealing from the company when it was you all along."

"It's still his word against mine." George said arrogantly. "There is no possible way that it will hold up in court."

"The money was traced back to an account in the Cayman Islands that was in your name. That's enough for a court to sentence you. Furthermore, we also know that you were falsifying focus group results. Instead of paying the agency responsible for conducting research, the money was being channeled to the same bank account. Further investigation showed us that the company was actually owned by Emilia, who also had an account set up in the Cayman Islands."

"How did you get all this information?" George asked, horrified.

"The F.B.I and I have been working together for months now. You left breadcrumbs along the way and they were able to connect them together."

George gazed up at the ceiling and for the first time, Nyla truly realized how old her COO was. It seemed all the fight had left him.

"I just want to know why you did all of this. I thought you were happy at Renne? How do you justify killing people in a factory just to see the reputation of the company fall?"

George's eyes lit up and Nyla saw the hatred in them for the first time. She didn't know how he hid it for so long.

"I was never happy at Renne you stupid bitch! I was the one who was supposed to be the CEO after Raymond died." George tried leaning towards Nyla, but the cuffs held him in place.

Nyla was frightened—it seemed that she didn't know this man at all. His façade broke right in front of her eyes.

"Raymond found a new fucking prodigy who he gave the job too, even though you didn't deserve it. He left out Emilia from his will even though the two of them had been married for years. He didn't deserve her either! We both suffered because you decided to come to Renne. If killing people got you removed from your position, I would gladly do it again." He cackled loudly and that's when Nyla had enough.

Before Nyla could respond, Agent Tessa entered the room. "That's enough," she said in a calm voice.

George continued shouting obscenities at Nyla who was assisted out of the chair by one of the other agents. "Your job here is done, we can handle the rest." he said.

Nyla nodded and made her way to the door, but she couldn't exit without having the last word. She turned back towards George in a cool voice she said. "I earned everything damn bit of my title as CEO of Renne and you would have too if you'd say loyal. Instead, you let jealousy of Raymond and me shape your life. Destroying the lives of others to gain power just goes to show how pathetic you are. A real leader stands up for their people instead of crawling over their graves. Enjoy crumbling in a jail cell alongside your mistress Emilia."

She slammed the door shut before he could say anything else and slid to the floor on the other side. Nyla took a few calming breaths in order to decrease her rapid heartbeat. She'd done it—she'd faced his betrayal and lived. Nothing could stop her now.

The last few weeks had been particularly difficult. As soon as Nyla returned from the F.B.I office she'd contacted human resources to reach out to Bill and reinstate his position as the head of accounting. She'd apologized profusely but also raised his salary handsomely—something that made him happy and drop some of his resentment of being fired.

Next, she'd done a through check of all her employees and when the F.B.I contacted her that Charity—one of her board members had also been working with Emilia and George, she wasn't surprise. After the prompt removal of several of her other board members who did not see the error of Charity's ways, Nyla was stronger than ever.

She'd done her best to keep everything quite in the media however as soon as George and Emilia's arrest were made public, Renne had become a madhouse but she'd been prepared. All things considered, Nyla thought that the company handled the shitstorm well. Tomorrow was the day of the carnival and Nyla couldn't be more excited. All the months of hard work and effort she and Darius had put in would be on display. Her only wish was for the children to have fun.

Yawing, Nyla reached for the file she'd brought back from the office earlier. Hyeon had requested her signature but Nyla forget until tonight. She opened the file and her eyes nearly popped out. Feeling as though she might be hallucinating, she rubbed her face, but the words remained the same.

This documentation herby transfers 1,500,000 shares of G-Health Inc., at an approximate value of $157.00 per share previously held Darius Giordano to Nyla Malhotra immediately. As majority shareholder, with a 37% stake in the corporation, Ms. Malhotra will be serving on the board of directors of G-Health Inc. Darius Giordano is to remain CEO of G-Health Inc. unless the board of directors collectively deem otherwise.

Darius and his lawyers' signature were at the end of the document and an empty space stood for Nyla to sign her own name.

Confused, Nyla immediately picked up the phone and Darius answered it on the first ring. "What the fuck am I reading?"

"I'm assuming that you are talking about the document that transfers my shares to your name?"

Nyla's head was spinning, why had Darius done something like this. "What else would I be talking about?"

"Nyla, I broke your trust and the greatest mistake I made was going behind your back to Marcus. I undermined your authority and hurt your feelings. Honestly, I don't know how to make it better but by doing this. I thought maybe this would show you the amount of trust I have in you."

"Darius," Nyla said softly. "This is the most idiotic thing you could ever do. How did your lawyers even allow you to draft this document?"

Darius chuckled and he said wistfully. "Isn't that the thing about love? It makes us do stupid things."

Nyla's heart pounded furiously. Was Darius saying that he'd given her his shares to show her that he loved her?

"It doesn't matter how I did it Nyla. Just sign the document. I know you'll make a great board member and take care of my shares."

Nyla couldn't accept this. She hadn't earned Darius' shares and she wouldn't let him be so foolish. "We'll talk about this tomorrow." She promised.

"Will we?"

Nyla nodded, "We will," she said firmly.

There was a sigh on the other line. "Fine," Darius said softly. "Goodnight, I'll see you tomorrow morning."

Nyla whispered goodnight as well and hung up the phone. Head still spinning from Darius' sheer stupidity she slumped on her bed, she was going to have quite the morning tomorrow.

♠♠♠♠♠♠

The carnival was in full swing. It seemed like the children were having fun. Various rides were set up on the ground as well as other activities including face painting, cotton candy, clowns and a magic show. It truly warmed Nyla's heart to see the children with joy on their faces as they interacted with various Disney princesses they'd hired. Many of these children could not afford to visit Disney land and to have a day in which the parents didn't need to worry about any cost made Nyla happy as well. Kids from the New York Presbyterian Hospital were also present with various nurse and medical staff on hand in case something went wrong.

Nyla searched the grounds for Darius as hadn't gotten the chance to speak with him yet as both of them had been quite busy in the morning.

She felt a tap on her shoulder and spun around to see Sona behind her.

Shocked, she hugged the woman. "What are you doing here?"

"You didn't think I was going to miss the event you planned on my behalf, did you?"

Nyla stayed silent. She needed had thought that Sona would not be coming back from her trip in time for the carnival.

Sona looked around and smiled. "You did a wonderful job here, I'm proud of both you are Darius. It's even better than I expected."

Nyla smiled herself. It had turned out better than they expected. She was proud that all the late nights had paid off.

"Speaking of which, where exactly is Darius, I've been looking for him."

"Did someone say they were looking for me?"

Sona and Nyla both spun around to see Darius walking towards them with a smile on his face. He seemed much more relax and happier than before. She watched him kiss Sona's cheeks before pulling her into a conversation. Nyla zoned out for a bit only to hear her name.

"—Nyla could I speak to you for a moment?"

She shook her head before giving Darius a polite smile. "Sure."

Sona gazed at the two of them suspiciously before speaking, "I guess I'm the unwanted old lady here now. I know when I'm not wanted anymore."

Before Nyla could object, Sona smiled, eyes twinkling she said, "I'm just joking, I'll take a stroll through the carnival and catch up with you later."

They two of them watched her walk away. They didn't say anything for a couple of minutes after.

"So—"

"Let's take—"

They both interrupted one another until Nyla spoke. "You can go first."

Darius looked like he was about to argue but he just nodded once. "I was going to ask if you wanted to walk around and if we could talk while doing so."

"Sure," Nyla said softly.

Her and Darius both began walking. She wasn't sure exactly where they were going but it seemed that Darius knew his way around. Side by side, it felt weird to be so close yet so far. Nyla hated that she was so close to Darius, yet she couldn't hold his hand.

Darius was the one to break the silence. "Have you signed the papers yet?"

Nyla shook her head, "No, and as I told you before, I'm not going to. You deserve your shares Darius. I've seen how hard you work; I don't know why we are doing this."

Darius gave her a sad smile, "I might have worked hard but I screwed up everything between us, didn't I?"

Nyla looked up at his blue eyes, they seemed dimmer than usual. She saw the pain reflected in her own eyes. She thought about how he'd gone behind her back and spoke to Marcus, but she'd also had time to reflect on the other accusations she'd thrown at him. A part of her could still blame Darius for not placing trust in her but they had barely been acquaintances at that time. Besides, she'd been quite the bitch to him at the beginning as well.

He was doing his best to show that he trusted her by giving her his share of G-Health. Nyla appreciated it, but she knew it wasn't necessary. After months of leaning on each other, she knew that he trusted her—why had it taken her so long to realize that, she didn't know. She also knew that she'd been hurt by racial slurs his friends hurdled in Houston, but she'd see him defend her—at the stake of him being jailed.

At the moment, Nyla knew the true extent of her feelings. She took Darius fingers and wove them with her own. "I forgive you," she said. "You've fought for me the last few weeks and I've seen it. We aren't the people we were when we met and that's okay. I'd like to think that we've grown stronger together."

Nyla smiled up at Darius and she saw a reflection of his smile as well, but she wasn't finished. "I'm sorry too. I didn't want to make it seem like you had something to prove to me because you don't. I know you would stand by my side through everything and have continued to do so. And that is just one of the reasons as to why I love you."

She saw as Darius' eyes darkened at her confessions before he swooped in and pulled her in for a heated kiss. Nyla close her eyes and her fingers wove their way into his hair, she sighed. It seemed liked forever since she'd kiss Darius and she deeply missed the feeling. Everything around her faded away but she was aware of giggles a few seconds later. Her and Darius pulled away to see a group of children surrounding them.

"Ew," one of the girls said. "That's gross."

The boy beside her echoed her disgust. Nyla and Darius shared a private smile before they both began laughing as well. They watched as the kids ran up to one of the face painting booths.

"They won't be thinking kissing is gross in a few years," Darius said smugly.

Nyla wacked his shoulder lightly. "It is pretty gross if you think about it."

"Why think about anything when you can just kiss me and forget all about it?"

Nyla smiled and Darius tucked a curl behind her cheek. "You got your big declaration now it's my turn."

Nyla opened her mouth to stay something, but Darius cut her in.

"The way I behaved and went behind your back was not okay. I'm sorry I did that, but I'm also sorry that I wasn't able to protect you from my 'friends' or my mom. I'm sorry that you felt like you didn't belong with me because there is nobody else, I rather have on my side then you. I never mix business and pleasure but with you, there is no need to mix because everything is already well blended. I'm thankful for all the times you've helped me and how you supported me with Vincent and how kind you are with Lily. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Nyla quirked an eyebrow at him, "I hope that wasn't a marriage proposal because that would be too early."

"Well actually—"

Nyla's face paled for a moment and Darius immediately noticed. "I had a ring for you, but it's not an engagement ring."

He pulled a box out of his pocked and opened it. Inside, lay a ring that had a missing center. "It's a promise ring, you don't have to wear it but whenever you are ready to get married, we can fill the center, so it becomes complete." Darius explained.

Nyla took the ring and slipped it onto her finger. "It's perfect," she said softly. She was referring to the idea and the ring itself.

"I always knew the two of you would make a good couple." Darius and Nyla spun around to see Sona standing behind them. "That's why I got you to plan the carnival together anyways."

Nyla narrowed her eyes. "Don't tell me you were playing matchmaker months ago?"

Sona gave them a sly smile. "And if I told you I was?"

Nyla opened her mouth in mock annoyance, but Darius enclosed her in a hug and gave Sona a small smile. "Then all we would have left to say is that you are an excellent matchmaker because you found us both the perfect match."

She rolled her eyes at the cheesiness but stayed in Darius' hug. She knew they both had a long life ahead of them and would build a great empire in years to come, after all they had legacies to live up to. Both CEO's of fortune 500 companies, Nyla knew it was just the beginning for them and she'd couldn't be happier.

----------------------

And thus, that is the end of Nyla and Darius' story. There will be a couple of short scene epilogues though, so don't go anywhere. Did you suspect George at all or was it a surprise? Fun fact, I didn't know how George was going to get caught until one of my professors mentioned how market research often leads to illegal activities and that's when I knew I hit the jackpot. Also, yes Sona did play matchmaker ;) If you have any questions, popped them down below and i'll answer them! Thank you for reading and please don't forget to comment or vote on the last chapter.

-Much Love, Kyra
